WELCOME TO THE MOVIE HOUSE

Step into a one-of-a-kind upstairs retreat just 2 miles from Colgate University and the Village of Hamilton. Housed in a renovated early 1900s general store, the Movie House combines the character of an old country property with the comforts of a thoughtfully renovated home and a memorable film theme running throughout.

Original vintage movie posters from the former owners of Norwich's Colonia Theater fill the stairway, living spaces and bedrooms, giving film lovers something new to discover in every room. Whether you are visiting for a Colgate weekend, a family getaway or a quiet escape to the country, the Movie House offers a stay you'll remember.

ROOM TO RELAX

The Movie House has several comfortable places to spread out.

The spacious living and dining area is anchored by a deep-cushioned sofa and a 55" smart TV framed by original movie posters, ideal for movie nights or unwinding after a day out. A high-top table nearby offers another spot to gather for meals, games or morning coffee.

At the end of the hall, the music room provides comfortable seating and Bluetooth speakers. It is a relaxed place to read, listen to music or slow down after exploring Hamilton and the surrounding area.

SLEEPING

The Movie House sleeps up to 5 guests across three private sleeping spaces.

The primary bedroom has a king bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed. A separate sleeping room includes a pull-out futon for one additional guest.

Every sleeping room includes original movie artwork visible in the listing photos, so film lovers will find something to notice wherever they land.

The bathroom is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels and the frequently forgotten essentials such as toothbrushes, razors and cotton swabs.

KITCHEN & DINING

The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped for cooking in, with a full-size stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, cookware, dishes and plenty of the extras we appreciate when we travel, including coffee essentials, spices and oils.

A counter with two stools provides another spot for breakfast or morning coffee, and the dining table is well suited for shared meals or a game night in.

OUTDOORS & THE RIVER

The Movie House shares the property's outdoor areas with our other rentals, including the front porch, fire pit and river area.

A path leads approximately 200 feet from the parking area, past the fire pit, to the Chenango River. Guests are welcome to enjoy the riverbank, sit by the water and keep an eye out for ducks, herons and other wildlife. When conditions are safe, guests may also enjoy the shallow water.

Please note: the back deck belongs exclusively to the downstairs River House rental and is not included with this listing.

CLOSE TO COLGATE

The Movie House is conveniently located near Colgate University and the Village of Hamilton, making it a great home base for campus visits, sporting events, family weekends, reunions and other Colgate gatherings while still giving you a quiet place to retreat at the end of the day.

ENTRANCE & ACCESS

Guests park in front of the green barn and follow the lighted path to the front porch. Entry is through the front door using a digital keypad. The side entrance is reserved for guests staying in the downstairs River House.

The Movie House has its own private entrance and completely private indoor living spaces.

GOOD TO KNOW

The Movie House occupies the entire second floor of a two-story building. The River House, a separate vacation rental, is located downstairs. Each unit has its own private entrance, kitchen and living areas.

Because the Movie House sits directly above the River House, we ask guests to keep voices and entertainment at a gentle volume during quiet hours (10 p.m. to 8 a.m.) and to walk softly if there are guests downstairs.

The old workshop building beside the yard is part of the property's history but is locked and not available to guests.

This is a rural country property, so you may hear roosters, chickens and other normal countryside sounds. A country road runs beside the property and can be active during the day and early morning, including occasional farm trucks. The Chenango River is a natural, unsupervised area, and children should always be supervised near the water.
