When the curtain issue was reported later that evening, I explained that I was unable to travel to the property at approximately 9:00 PM because I was located a significant distance away, but I communicated that I would have the issue addressed the following day when maintenance was available. The guest ultimately chose to leave the property on their own accord rather than wait for the repair. The property rules also clearly state that guests are responsible for damages occurring during their stay and that the applicable card on file may be charged. The $825 claim was not a charge simply for a “fallen curtain rod”; it reflects the documented damage to the curtain installation, including damage to the surrounding plaster and mounting areas, as well as the necessary professional restoration and reinstallation. I understand that the situation was frustrating, particularly given the reported alarm issue, and I regret that the guest’s stay was disrupted.
