I travel to live like the locals do: local markets, everyday routines, neighborhoods over resorts. That is why I booked this Vrbo on Bequia and we had the worst check-in everAfter 13 hours of travel, we paid 15 for an open taxi up a steep hill for a distance less than 5 minutes, because the climb was too much for us ( we are helathy couple in our 30s, it is STEEP!). We arrived to no electricity and no running water, in intense heat and humidity. The host greeted us and could not say when power would return while everyone around the VRBO had power. Nobody had warned us about an outage. She then drove away in her car, and we waited two hours with no water to drink, no light, and no way to charge our phones. Calls to the host,went unanswered.When power came back, the primary bedroom and bathroom lights still did not work. I have video to share. We used our phone flashlights for the rest of the stay and did not call again, because we feared more of the house would fail.Also this a BARE MINIMUM HOUSE. One trash bag, one towel, expired medicines, one of what will let me them pass inspection.If you visit Bequia, I recommend a locally run hotel. You will get a real welcome, running water, access to food and be near water and not top of a hill which makes movement difficult without a car ( and no, you wont get a car here as driving without pratice is difficult here)
