Hayes David Cottage is a beautifully renovated 2-bedroom home offering crisp design, modern comfort, and cozy island charm. Sleeping up to four guests, this bright and welcoming retreat features abundant natural light, updated appliances, and a peaceful setting tucked away—yet still conveniently located in town.

Affectionately named after a beloved character from the locally celebrated novels God Speed Cedar Key and Forever Cedar Key, the cottage captures the same spirit found in their pages—small-town charm, resilience, and a touch of adventure.

The master bedroom features a comfortable queen bed and hand-planed cedar accents that bring warmth and character to the space. The guest bedroom is spacious and airy, offering plenty of room to move around and settle in comfortably. Together, the bedrooms sleep up to four guests with ease.

The living area provides relaxed seating for four with a sofa and two accent chairs—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The galley kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals, and the dining table seats four for casual gatherings. The bathroom includes a convenient tub/shower combination and is centrally located for easy access from both bedrooms.

This thoughtfully renovated home is clean, comfortable, and full of character—designed to provide a relaxing and easy island stay.

The cottage sits on a private lot with outdoor seating—an ideal spot to enjoy morning coffee or relax with a good book. Please note that the yard is not fully fenced.

Parking is available for one vehicle, and the home is conveniently located next to a city-designated boat parking area. The property is single level, with five steps leading up to the front porch.

Guests enjoy full access to the home, yard, and laundry facilities. Self check-in is available via smart lock for added convenience.

We respect our guests’ privacy and provide space to relax, but we’re always just a phone call or message away should you need anything during your stay. As a local team on the island, we’re nearby if assistance is needed.

Located in a peaceful neighborhood just one block from the activity of 2nd Street, Hayes David Cottage places you within easy walking distance of the shops, restaurants, and waterfront charm of downtown Cedar Key. It’s the perfect quiet home base for exploring the island.

Most guests arrive by car, though Cedar Key can also be accessed by boat or small aircraft. Once here, golf carts and bicycles are popular ways to explore and are available for rent in town.

-Do not trespass on other people`s property, this includes docks and driveways
-Please be careful where you park, don`t block people in, use neighbors property, park on the sidewalk or impede traffic
-Parties and/or events are not allowed
-No smoking inside or within 10 feet of doors or windows $250 fine if the property smells of smoke
- This unit does not allow pets. Unauthorized pets will result in a $250 fine for each animal
-$150/person/day fee for over occupancy limit
-Please don’t eat or drink anything besides water in the bedroom
-Quiet hours 10 pm to 7 am per local Noise Ordinance
-Please respect the check-in and check-out times. $500 for each 4 hours, or portion unauthorized thereof, of early check-in and late checkout.
-Guests are responsible for any damage they cause. If something does happen contact us ASAP and we will see if there’s a way to quickly take care of the issue before it gets worse and costs more.
-Please don’t rearrange the furniture.
-Please do your dishes.
-No illegal substances allowed on premises.
