Getting Around Tulum

Walking

Many restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, and shops in "calle 7" are within walking distance. The area is generally safe, but we recommend using caution at night and staying on well-lit streets.

Bicycles & Scooters

Biking is one of the most popular ways to move around Tulum. Rental shops are available nearby and offer daily or weekly rates. You can easily bike to downtown, local markets, and even the beach (approximately 15–20 minutes depending on pace). Electric bikes and scooters are also available for rent.

Taxis

Taxis are widely available throughout Tulum. They do not use meters, so it is important to confirm the price before starting your ride. Taxis are convenient for reaching the beach zone, cenotes, or returning at night.

Colectivos (Shared Vans)

Colectivos operate along the main highway (Carretera 307) and connect Tulum with Playa del Carmen, Cancun, and other nearby towns. They are affordable and run frequently during the day. Payment is made in cash.

ADO Bus Station

The ADO station in Tulum Centro offers comfortable long-distance bus service to Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Merida, Valladolid, and other cities. It is a reliable option for airport connections and regional travel.

Tren Maya

The new Tren Maya station in Tulum connects to destinations across the Yucatán Peninsula. Availability and schedules may vary, so we recommend checking official schedules in advance if you plan to use it.

Car Rentals

Renting a car provides the greatest flexibility if you plan to explore remote cenotes, Cobá ruins, Sian Ka’an Biosphere, or other Riviera Maya attractions. Several rental agencies operate in Tulum and at Cancun Airport. On-site parking at Oasis yaaxlum is available.
