We had a great time with our family! As the reviews say, the house has everything you'd need. Fishing was great - we even caught them right off the dock.
My family stayed for 3 weeks and had a wonderful time. Great house - just as advertised, beautiful lake, good fishing, wonderful family of hosts, fun local spots to explore. We'd love to come back.
We had a great stay at this property and look forward to returning in the future! The house was spacious with beautiful outdoor areas for relaxing. It included everything one would need for cooking and doing laundry.
Awesome property. Walkway to the lake is nice but it is a significant uphill climb from the lake to the house. The elevation does provide amazing views from almost every room and the decks. Absolutely loved it.
The property worked great for 8 adults. May not be suitable for young children because of the open stairs. Margaret was very receptive to any issues. She was not any bother at all as she lives above the garage (we didnât even know she was there). The trail down to the lake is difficult for the elderly but the younger adults didnât have an issue. The house was well stocked.
This our second year staying at this property.
We had another fantastic trip to this VRBO! Again, place was clean, well stocked, and convenient. Communication from the owners was stellar.
We're planning to make a third trip next summer!
Overall the property was a great stay, the lower level could use some upgrading, it had a musty smell and a number if items werenât working, like the fireplaces.
The place was very nice and clean and worked well for our fishing vacation to Lake Vermilion. We met one of the owners at the place and she was great! Very helpful and accommodating. We did not really use the dock or lake access at the place but it looked nice but the path and walkway down to the the lake is pretty steep and tough walking and would be a challenge for older people or those with limited mobility. The views of the lake are beautiful!
This place was beautiful and perfectly located on the water. Property management was responsive and uber nice. Refrigerator and pantry weâre already full of a lot of condiments with 2023 expiration dates
We stayed at this cabin for about a week and had a nice time.
Pros:
- The decks have a fantastic view of the beautiful lake
- The hosts were very responsive when we had a problem with the internet and solved the issue quickly
- The dock was great for swimming and the kids all enjoyed jumping off and playing in the water
- Lots of room to hang out in the living/family rooms and plenty of beds/couches for sleeping
- Plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers
Cons:
- No A/C. It was hot the first days we were there and the house, especially upstairs, was really uncomfortable. The windows were very difficult to open and there were no blinds on the sunny side of the house. There were not enough fans so we had to move them around and 2 of them were old and broke as we moved them (which we had to pay for). Those of us who were staying in the loft had to relocate to the basement floor to sleep due to the stifling heat.
- Lots of food in the kitchen. While it's nice to have a few seasonings around, it seemed like the (small) fridge hadn't been cleaned out since the last guests. There were open condiments in the fridge, snacks, baking supplies, etc. Nothing old or rotten, just a bunch of stuff that wasn't ours to work around.
- The fire pit was at the bottom of the hill by the lake. If you want to enjoy a fire and be within earshot of kids in the house, this won't work.
- The host lives in an apartment above the garage. Margaret was friendly and did not intrude at all, but if privacy is a priority for you, keep this in mind.
All in all, it was a nice enough cabin on a beautiful lake that could probably benefit from a few improvements, especially to block out the sun, get some air moving, and manage the temperature in the house.
Margaret the owner was wonderful and the property was very user friendly for our family who stayed and friends who visited. Well stocked kitchen. Great location.
For a group of 8 adults this was a perfect place with plenty of room. The views from both decks were great. The large kitchen table made it easy for all of us to fit around for meals, games and catching up. The only downside was the steepness of the hill going up and down to the lake and no easy access to entering the water if you want to swim.
If you're looking for a comfortable place with a hint of rustic to capture that up-north feel, this is the spot for you. While it has all the amenities for a comfortable stay, you experience the Northland.
Bedrooms are larger than they appear in the photos.
Plenty of community space in large upstairs and downstairs areas. Decks are fantastic. Plenty of parking space for 4 vehicles and a few boat trailers. Careful getting up the driveway - it's a bit narrow and pitted for pulling boat trailers up, but steady does it. Quick shot to the Vermillion club - good food and atmosphere, and a bit further to the Y-store for all your bait and many grocery needs. 5 minutes from public boat launch. Dock is a bit flimsy, but gets out to good depth for docking a boat (maybe two?).
I'd stay there again!
Everything about the Daisy Bay property was amazing, from scheduling our stay and communication with the owners, through the house itself, including the amenities and the beautiful location.
Our trip was a family reunion of sorts, and this property afforded us the perfect backdrop for memories that will last a lifetime.
The house itself is both rustic and modern, with great communal areas, but also with a layout that allows for privacy too. The views are phenomenal. Early morning risers were treated to bald eagles flying directly in front of the deck!
While we were there, an issue arose with the plumbing. Any home owner knows that these things do happen. However, the issue was addressed immediately by the property owners, ensuring that our trip was not severely interrupted. In fact, everything this family does is done with professionalism and friendliness.
All in all, we could not have asked for a better stay or a better location.
We stayed with at the cabin with our two daughters and they each brought a friend. It was wonderful that we all had our own space and could be together or do our own thing on the two different levels. The decks are wonderful and the view is spectacular. Be prepared to hike down to the lake, but the path was just fine to navigate. Owners were very nice to work with and we appreciated all their communications and help.
We stayed with 6 adult family members. The house has plenty of space for hanging out together or alone. The two decks are fantastic and the view is beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. The only downside of the house is the steep walk down to the water and the rocky shoreline for getting in and out of kayaks. We would rent again.

Hi! My name is Jim Husbands and my daughters name is Taylor and her mothers name is Margaret, we work together to rent out our home on Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota. I have retired from the movie industry where I was a set decorator for 35+ years. Now, I split my time between San Carlos, Mexico and Quartzsite, Arizona where I put on the largest Sports, Vacation, and RV show in the world. We purchased this home because my wife's family has a cabin on Pine Island not far our home. We knew it would be a great place to raise our kids. Now we rent out the home during the summer so others can enjoy it as much as we have throughout the years.
Our property provides fun, relaxation, wildlife, great fishing, beautiful views, fires by the water, and a well stocked kitchen. A slice of paradise to enjoy the beauty of Lake Vermilion.
The views of Lake Vermilion are the biggest benefit. The people are wonderful and the seasons are great with all the sports & recreation, it has delighted us as a family!
