We have stayed here for the second time and hope we will be back in a couple years with another group of grandkids. The location is a perfect gateway for exploring less busy parts of the Rockies. It is quiet and not far from trailheads and little towns with beautiful restaurants and attractions. The cabin is perfect for a family with everything one needs for an enjoyable stay. I especially loved sitting on the porch and watching birds visiting the feeders. The hosts are wonderful!

Family celebration

Great cabin the woods!

The cabin was great! It's location was nice and private. There is plenty of room in the cabin as well. It was great enjoying coffee on the front deck or on the picnic table in the back in the morning. We traveled to Nederland, Boulder and Golden while we were staying. We would definitely stay here again!

Cozy Cabin next to a big forest.

My Family had a great stay in this friendly cabin. Woods and trails right out back. Hummingbirds, rabbits, and chipmunks love the place. We even saw a moose. Great time, we would do it again.

Beautiful Cabin, Great Location

We had a fantastic stay at the Dancing Bear Cabin celebrating Thanksgiving with our daughters who live in Denver. The cabin was a convenient hour drive from Denver. The cabin is beautifully decorated and very clean. Anything a person could want for is supplied. We enjoyed the warmth of the wood burning stove with wood provided by the owners. Donna was responsive and quick to answer our questions. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails right out back of the property. We would definitely stay here again!

Magical

We spent three magical days at Dancing Bear, and definitely plan on coming back. My 3 and 4 year olds loved the yard with the swing, play house, and bus/fire truck/spaceship. My husband and I loved being able to let our children loose in true nature. The fact that the home borders a national forest was the most wonderful aspect of the house. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we had everything we needed. Donna was great at making sure we had all we needed. Just perfect.

Dancing Bear

The dancing bear cabin was beautiful! The owners were helpful. In my own ignorance, I booked this cabin thinking that we could go from town to town quickly and easily. I was definitely wrong by not taking the curvy roads through the mountains in consideration when planning our trip. We spent a lot of time in the car. If you want to be pretty much only in the Black Hawk/Rollinsville/Ned area then this is a great place to stay. If you want to venture out to other places maybe find somewhere else, but if you want to be secluded this cabin is great. Also, the Golden Gate Canyon state park is nearby and it’s beautiful with lots of lakes and hiking! Overall, great place to stay and so much natural beauty!

The reason it’s a 3 star rating is because the hot tub amenity was the only reason I booked this particular cabin. The owner knew that the hot tub was listed as their cabins amenity but said that there is a “community hot tub” and community pool down the road. Definitely false advertising. And after I sent a screen shot of the hot tub as first amenity listed on their listing, hot tub amenity was removed. Also the cabin listed as “remote”, its remote in the vicinity of a highway but the cabin is surrounded by other cabins that you can visibly see, and people walking on the road that runs in front of the place can see your cabin. So if you’re looking for a hot tub or privacy, this is not the place.

We came out from MN to explore the Peak to Peak area in early August. Within 30 miles driving, you can access excellent hiking, biking, rafting and sightseeing opportunities. Also plenty of "indoors" things but my family and I were here to play outside. The cabin is warm, functional, and cozy for a family of four. Lots of wildlife and national forest trails literally out the back door. The kitchen is setup to cook pretty much any meal you want, and the gas grill outside was easy to use. There are TVs in every room that looked nice; we didn't really watch any TV but with those and a few games in the cabin you can always keep yourself entertained. We liked having a dishwasher and laundry as well. Overall I'd say if the yuppie front range isn't really your thing, you'll find all the CO summer fun here and the area really feels more authentic than the front range. I've never skied Eldora, but by the numbers it's no front range mega resort. Other than that, the P2P region is highly recommended by this particular MW outdoorsy type family!I'll add that communication with Don and Donna was a breeze. They actually care that you have a great stay. Not a given with vacation rental owners!

We had a wonderful week at Don & Donna’s cabin. It was so peaceful & relaxing, just what we needed. The kitchen is very well stocked. We hiked everyday in the woods right out the back door. Our dogs thought they were in heaven! We will definitely be return renters! And Donna was super responsive to all our questions! Highly recommend staying here if you want to get away!

Absolutely Captivating

The cabin was rustic but not rough. It had all the amenities we needed, including Netflix! The beds were comfy and the location was amazing. When I opened the bedroom curtains, there was a forest, streaming with sunlight. It was the best! And Nederland, just 15minutes away, was the perfect town with great restaurants, a full market, and friendly people.

The location was good. We saw moose behind the house. The bear theme was charming. There were various condiments in the fridge, seasoning in the cabinet and coffee for those who wanted it. We enjoyed our walks out through the woods. The host was responsive though all my questions concerned her. Some of my messages to her disappeared in the Vrbo app and she didn’t receive them. The deck has a loose board that is a trip hazard. The host said they are replacing the deck this fall but that board needs screwed down ASAP. When the sun is on it, it rises more. There is a maybe 3” drop as you leave the main space going into the hallway that catches you off guard. I sat on a stool at the counter and almost ended up in the floor. (I weigh 140 lbs.) We left it laying in the floor with a note on it. We found the horseshoes hanging in a tree but no pit. We did locate a bent over piece of rebar coming out of the ground. The playground area would be enjoyable for someone with children. My two concerns are 1) water. It tasted great! but I had to wash my hair in the kitchen sink because there is no pressure. 2) If you rent this home, you need to know in advance there is an extra charge for more than 4 people, per person, per night. Also the rule is NO visitors at this location. She did make an exception for our son to come by a short time to see the place. I understand previous guests ruined this for everyone. We were in the area for a family reunion and overall enjoyed our time.

Don, born and raised in Colorado married Donna, a New York Native over 38 years ago. Don has enjoyed the cabin since childhood, hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, fishing, mountain climbing and exploring with his parents. We found a trail behind the cabin where a covered wagon had once tipped over. To this day old glass bottles can still be dug up at this site. The trail opens to a large meadow and bubbling stream.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

A family jewell passed on, now for others to enjoy as well, Colorado history abounds the area. It is near Peak to Peak highway which has the most beautiful sights available on the front range

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

A huge plus is the the back door leads onto Roosevelt National Forest. Hiking & mountain biking trails are feet away to springs and nearby river. No reservations, no crowds. Wildlife prevails in the area: moose, dear and elk are common. Ghost towns surround the area, and are a short drive away.
