My family and I enjoyed our stay at this location. It was very comfy and clean. We all felt that we would like to come back again. The view was beautiful.
Thank you for another great stay! There were some tiny issues, but the owner was extremely responsive. We enjoyed kayaking and the porch. My daughter loved having her own space with her best friend.
First of all the host Lisa, was communicative and efficient. Probably the best host. There was plenty of room in the unit that is 2 houses kinda put together and also plenty of items stocked. Unfortunately, we booked this house due to being RIGHT ON THE RIVER so we had 24-7 swimming access. You CANNOT SWIM in this river due to bacteria/ toxin's. We had no idea until we arrived. I asked ahead of time about raft availability. You'd think the host would clue into that and say, you can't go in the water to raft. I don't know if the river is always like this or was it a timing issue. I'll back-off my comments if the host didn't know and it was a one time thing. Also, you CANNOT DRINK THE WATER in the cabin. Another item that would have been nice to know. Yes, they supplied with a lot of bottled water but not my idea of rest and relaxation. Location wasn't ideal either but we managed. Overall, we are all disappointed in this cottage. Unfortunately we ended up leaving a day early. Would not return.
We booked this for a family trip with our kids and grandkids. I'll start by saying the view is amazing. Communication with host was good as well. Having the hot tub saved us from the heat as we could not swim in the river due to pollution. Apparently this is common in the area so check the river status if this is important to you. The home is actually 2 separate units which was not explained in the listing. One unit has a king bed with a full bath, living room and kitchen. The second unit downstairs has 4 bedrooms.. (one big and 3 small) and a very small kitchen THe fact that they are separate units may be an issue if you only have one set of adults because the kids would not be in the same unit. You can't go from one to the other without going outside. Just something to keep in mind when booking. There is no table to eat as a family.. we had to eat every meal outside on the deck and it was hot! Not a huge issue but something we like to do when together. The beds were comfortable and the unit was clean. I wish there was a blender for frozen cocktails:) The area is nice and we found lots to do.. visited caves, a fair which had rides for the kids, Ninja Kingdom Adventure Park and a wonderful water park Jaydees. That was by far the best day we had.. it was very clean and lots of fun! I will note that we like to kayak, but there wasn't any kayak paddles.. we mentioned this to Lisa and she sent a paddle to us via good ole Amazon! Thank you!
It is a million dollar view of the river! My grandchildren loved canoeing, and throwing rocks on the shoreline. The jacuzzi is big, and ofcourse had a breathtaking scenic view!!
My family and I had a wonderful time! The view was to die for. The house was very clean and had everything anyone could want. It was well stocked. It had ample space to either spend time together or be on your own if you preferred. I decor was lovely, the beds, comfy and there was plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. It was a great place to spend the holiday weekend!
The house is unusual but very nice. My family was really split into 2 different areas . Luckily my children are adults so not a problem for us but if you have young children probably not the best arrangement. The river is beautiful and the community was nice.
The property is beautiful. The house sits right on the Potomac river. I just wish I had had been warmer so that we couldâve gotten in the water. There were eight of us that traveled together. Itâs basically two houses connected together with some amazing decks and views. We spent a lot of time on the deck hanging out doing puzzles and laughing. It was in a great location to visit other places. We went to Shepherdstown and that is a great little town to visit. We hit up Harperâs ferry and Frederick, Maryland. The surrounding restaurants were good and everyone was very friendly that we met. The house has everything you need. The beds were very comfortable and each room has its own AC unit so you could adjust it how you preferred. I would definitely go back in the summertime. They were only a couple things that we wish we had known ahead of time, and maybe we miss that in reading the other reviews. The house is in a trailer park. It looks a little sketchy when you first turn off the main road and drive through the neighborhood. But it was very quiet and everyone there was very friendly. They supply lots of water for you, and itâs very well labeled, because you cannot drink the water. Iâm not sure why, but it only became a little annoying when you are brushing your teeth. And the last thing is out of anyoneâs control, but they have these little gnats that are called buffalo gnats, and this was in every town we visited, as long as the wind is blowing, they donât bother you.
We had a family gathering at this Vrbo of 7 adults and 5 toddlers. The pictures and property are exactly as shown in the photos. The main deck was wonderful. We gathered all 12 of us there for every meal...a little cozy, but manageable. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed sitting out on the deck, looking out on the river, and enjoying our time together. There is plenty to do with canoe, kayak, hot tub, fire pit, and just wading in the river. The house was clean with a cottage feel. As mentioned by someone else in comments, it is actually 2 houses with only one bedroom in the main cottage. All the rest in the second (away from the river) cottage. This worked out OK because the grandparents got the master bedroom in the main cottage overlooking the river, which was very nice. The back cottage where most of the bedrooms are is comfortable and clean but more for sleeping. It worked well for us as we could put the kids down for a nap and gather on the main deck. If you have trouble with stairs and hills, this might not be the place for you...lots of stairs and a hillside. We saw pontoon boats and jet skis on the river, but it was crowded, nice for canoeing. We all had a very nice stay and accommodations were comfortable. Recommend.
Lisa was very responsive and helpful. The location was perfect for some peace and quiet. The neighbors were very nice and I felt safe in the area. 10/10 would come back.
We enjoyed our stay and found this property to be quite comfortable. The view of the river from the main house and the many decks was incredible. The hot tub was great, and the house had everything we needed. Check out was especially easy and the host very accommodating.
Perfect house for our needs. It is actually two separate houses which worked well for us since we had 3 young adults that appreciated their own space! The view is beautiful and the deck and out door area is wonderful. It was really cold during our stay but during the summer the deck would be even more wonderful! We rent a lot of homes and we REALLY appreciated that the checkout list of things to do was short and easy. Nothing worse than paying thousands for a home and having to spend the entire last day doing excessive cleaning when you paid for a cleaning service. This home was as easy as they come and it was great! Thank you Lisa!!
Everything was perfect. It was well stocked with everything we needed. Views are amazing. Can't wait to book again with Lisa. If you are thinking about booking this listing, DO IT!
Clean, well kept, stocked with all the necessities. Great location and excellent communication with the owner. The outside space is wonderful and relaxing and we really enjoyed watching all the hummingbirds. We would definitely stay here again.
