The journey along Highway 118 sets the stage, but itâs when you pass Sir Samâs Ski Hill that you know something special awaitsâBasshaunt Lake, a serene retreat where unforgettable memories are made.
As you turn down the cottage road, the sense of community becomes clearâfriendly neighbors wave, joggers pass by, and the quiet hum of lake life greets you. Pulling into Serendipityâs driveway, the anticipation builds. With parking for up to five vehicles, this inviting five-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage offers the perfect balance of comfort and style. Step onto the expansive deck, and youâll feel instantly at easeâwelcomed into a space that is both luxurious and warmly rustic.
Inside, thoughtful renovations showcase a balance of modern convenience and cottage charm. The large, fully equipped kitchenâcomplete with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and pine cabinetryâwill delight any chef. The open-concept living and dining area is ideal for family meals or cozy evenings by the fire, while sliding doors open to a spacious deck and screened-in gazebo, perfect for your morning coffee or evening cocktail overlooking the lake breeze.
On the main floor, three well-appointed bedrooms include a king-sized primary, a queen, and a double, all designed for restful nights. A spa-inspired bathroom with a jacuzzi soaker tub invites relaxation after a day of adventure. Downstairs, a walk-out basement expands your living space with a second family room, a kitchenette, and two additional bedroomsâone with a queen, the other with twinsâperfect for larger groups.

If staying 7 days or more and require the laundry machines, a $50 fee will apply.
âą This cottage is in the Municipality of Dysart et al; STR-25-00124. The Municipal STR Licence restricts the cottage to maximum 10 people at any given time during your stay. The Municipality requires rental guests sign a Rental Guest Code of Conduct. This will be found in the check in app that you get access upon booking.

This cottage is in the Municipality of Dysart et al; STR-25-00124. The Municipal STR Licence restricts the cottage to maximum 10 people at any given time during your stay. Linens are provided â vacation shouldn't include laundry so we've set you up with silky white sheets and towels for your stay. Beach towels also included.
Post departure cleaning is arranged immediately following your check out time. Please ensure the short pre-departure cleaning checklist is completed and you have fully checked out of the cottage by your departure time to avoid any additional cleaning fees.

Waterfront
The lake is accessible both from the shoreline and the dock, offering a shallow walk-in entry as well as deeper water off the dock. The water is clear and ideal for swimming, though the shallow walk-in area has a muddy bottom. The lake does not allow motorboats, so itâs always calm and peaceful for swimming and paddling.
Sun Exposure
The northeast sun exposure provides full sun from sunrise until late afternoon, making it a great spot to enjoy the warmth throughout the day. If youâre an early riser, youâll love catching the beautiful sunrises, which can be enjoyed from the dock, the waterfront shore, the cottageâs deck, and even inside the cottage.
Boating
Motorized boats are not allowed on this lake.

Sir Samâs Ski & Ride. Ski resort with 23 km of trails, scenic chairlift rides, mountain biking, and a new lookout tower. (5 mins)
Eagle Lake Beach. Small beach with a boat launch, swim raft, children's playground, picnic shelter and portable washrooms. (5 mins)
Abbey Gardens. This former gravel pit has been transformed into a 300 acre site featuring local food shopping, interpretive trails, heritage breed displays, programming and event spaces, picnic areas, gardens and more! (15 mins)
Highlands Summer Festival. The Highlands Summer Festival is held each summer, from June to September, at the Northern Lights Performing Arts Pavilion, located in the High School in Haliburton. A variety of shows, plays, and musical performances are offered. (20 mins)
Winter Activities. Snowmobiling trails are nearby, and Sir Samâs Ski Resort is just 5 minutes away for downhill skiing and trails for snowshoeing. While Basshaunt Lake is not suitable for ice fishing, Eagle Lake is just 5 minutes away
