Lake Fork Schoolhouse
Mohican and Amish Country Romantic Getaway
Stay in a restored one-room schoolhouse built in 1880, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This unique cabin near Mohican State Park, Amish Country, and Snow Trails. Sleeps 6 with a cozy lofted sleeping area (two queen beds, both upstairs in the loft, and a full size day bed on the first floor). Enjoy an indoor fireplace, large laser screen projector TV, and a secluded hammock. Dog-friendly and full of historic charm, it's the perfect mix of comfort, character, and convenience for a relaxing getaway.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property, less the closet next to the kitchen.
Other things to note
Please note that the schoolhouse is supplied by well water, and because of that we suggest bringing bottled water for drinking, cooking, and making coffee.
Dog Policy: For insurance reasons, there are certain dog breeds which we can not allow at the property. Prohibited dog breeds include – Akita, Chow, Pit Bull or Staffordshire Terrier, Presa Canario, Rottweiler, Shar-pei and Wolf Hybrid or a mix of any of the breeds mentioned.
Dogs are the only pets permitted on the property. A maximum of 2 dogs is allowed per stay, subject to breed restrictions. All dogs must be included in the reservation prior to check-in, as a pet fee applies to pet-friendly stays. Undisclosed pets may result in additional charges.
The booking party must be physically present throughout the duration of the stay.
No underage consumption of alcohol on the property.
The schoolhouse is not baby-proofed.
For security purposes, an exterior camera monitors the front entrance and driveway areas only and does not capture any private spaces.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT
In consideration of your use of the property, you expressly agree and contract that Happy Properties, II, LLC and its owner(s) ("Released Parties") shall be released and shall not be liable for any damages, claim, liability or demand of any kind resulting from any injury, illness, medical condition or complication, or damage or loss (including death) of any kind to any guests or to their property or any property in their possession, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties, the acts or omissions of other persons or other third parties, or otherwise, except as otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
As a condition of enjoying the privilege of staying at our property, the guests accept and voluntarily assume all risks and hazards which may cause injury, illness, or medical condition or complication, damage or loss to any of the guests or to the guests’ property, while the guests or their property is in, on or traveling to or from the property.
Additionally, you agree to indemnify and hold Released Parties harmless from all losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorneys' fees and other litigation costs and expenses) incurred by any of the Released Parties as a result of any claims or suits that I (or anyone claiming by, under or through me) may bring against any of the Released Parties to recover any losses, liabilities, costs, damages, or expenses which arise during or result from my use and enjoyment of the property.
Additionally, the booking party acknowledges and agrees that they are fully responsible and liable for any acts, damages, or losses caused to the property by themselves or any members of their party, including but not limited to guests, visitors, or any other individuals they permit on the premises. The booking party further agrees that they are responsible and liable for any injuries, harm, or accidents sustained by any members of their party while on the property, regardless of the cause. The booking party agrees to indemnify and hold Released Parties harmless from any claims, actions, or expenses arising from any damages, injuries, or losses caused by or to members of their party.
By booking the property, you agree that you have carefully read, reviewed, and agree to be bound by the terms of this RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT.

The schoolhouse is surrounded by the woods and nature. Although we implement controls for critters, we cannot guarantee that they won’t sometimes make it inside. By booking the schoolhouse, you agree that no refunds or adjustments will be provided due to bugs, pests, critters, etc. that may be inside the schoolhouse during your stay.
ACTS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL
Guests staying at the property acknowledge that refunds are not available for issues arising from power outages, internet disruptions, or other acts of God, as well as events beyond the owner’s control. While we strive to provide a comfortable experience, these unforeseen circumstances can occur, and guests accept that such situations do not warrant a refund.

Simply put absolutely wonderful, the place large enough for a family, yet was cozy for just myself, my wife and our dogs. Location is in a very rural setting with the occasional horse and buggy going past. Highly recommended stay.

This place is a whole vibe. We had a fantastic time! It’s super unique, clean, cozy, and warm. The furniture and beds were clean and extremely comfortable. Parking can be a little tight if you have several large vehicles. We will definitely be back!!

We loved our stay at this amazing schoolhouse. It was comfortable, well equipped with everything we needed and genuinely felt like home, with its rustic charm. The private, quiet country setting made it incredibly relaxing. The owner is extremely kind and responsive — any questions we had were answered quickly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Definitely plan to stay again.

The property was beautiful - the attention to detail and design was great! The host was very communicative before and during our stay. We found everything we needed. This was the perfect weekend get away after the busy holiday season. A slow, cozy, game filled stay. The nearby food recommendations made by the host were also perfect. We plan to return!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend trip to the Schoolhouse! Garrett was an amazing host- giving us restaurant recommendations and check on us during our stay. The house- although historic- has been beautifully restored with modern amenities. The temps were in the single digits so we did not get out to explore the area but we were very comfortable to stay indoors watching movies on the big screen on the big comfy couch. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for more!!

We absolutely loved staying at the Lake Fork Schoolhouse! Garrett was an amazing, responsive host with suggestions on where to eat and things to do. The schoolhouse is a perfect blend of rustic with modern amenities. The bedding and towels were high quality luxurious. We were very cozy and comfortable. Thanks Garrett for an amazing stay. Yes, the cabin was very cozy. Very clean and yes it is pet friendly although we did not bring petsIt is very quiet. Not much traffic. The scenic view was great.I spent my childhood years growing up in loudonville so a little familiar with the area. But boy it sure was great getting back to where I spent so many young years have so many great memories from my childhood and we would come back tomorrow.It is lovely and our host Garrett was such a blessing

Better stocked kitchen, wrong kind of coffee filters for the coffee pot… less than half a roll of paper towels.. very cold with the heaters on the ceiling and heat rises…. So it was warm up top but not in the living room. Breeze comes through the doors. Would be fine for summer but not good for winter trip … most places I’ve stayed have stocked kitchen so you can cook. No bakeware, no wine glasses, no mixer… When we obviously didn't check in on Wednesday should have reached out to inquire… may have deterred this fiasco…

As a host, I care about each guest’s experience so I’m disappointed to see this review and want to clarify a few details for future guests.
The reservation was made for certain dates selected at booking, and I wasn’t contacted about any intended changes. Hosts can only rely on the dates guests choose.
Without my prior approval, checkout occurred about three hours past the scheduled time, which made it challenging for my cleaning team to prepare for the next same-day arrival. Even so, I offered a solution to the guest as a courtesy.
I also didn’t receive any messages during the stay about kitchen items or temperature, even though I messaged the guest during the stay to see how everything was going. I’m always happy to help right away when guests reach out.
Regarding the kitchen, amenities are in line with the listing and the style of the Schoolhouse. The coffee maker is a type that doesn’t require filters. I provide some bakeware. There’s no mixer or wine glasses but plenty of regular drinkware. To keep rates at a good value for guests, I provide what is useful to most stays. If guests have questions about what is provided, they are always welcome to contact me, so they know what additional specialty items they may want to bring for their stay.

Loved that it was pet friendly and very clean. Host was friendly and informed us about the hiking trails on his property . Hot tub was a great to relax after a productive day. Beautiful property had a great time.
