This was a SCAM/FRAUD and the review should not be posted on VRBO. This person should be in jail. I got paid $0 / nothing for an extended stay rental. Renters broke multiple rental rules and caused thousands of dollars in damages which was also never paid and also committed libel which is a crime in FL. Renter also harassed, bullied, and threatened me. This is the worst rental experience I have ever had in over 30 years of providing quality rentals for people. I have been told numerous times by VRBO that no review would be posted as I was never paid anything. The renter has posted all lies as she threatened she would. Renters motto in her words as she told me several times was "if I harass and bully people I always get what I want!" It is a shame people like this exist in the world! This renter should be in Jail for fraud and libel! Our beds, sofa, and furniture are in like-new condition. Nothing is rusty. The heat and AC work perfectly. As our listing states, we have ROKU TV with thousands of TV options. In addition to that this TV is also connected to a very powerful amplified TV antenna that had 90 channels show up on this TV and if you change the source on the TV and both sources work great! I spent the most time I have ever spent doing a requested walk-through at check-in with the renter even though listing on VRBO was set up as self-check-in mainly because of the extremely high covid numbers in the area at the time. During the very long walk-through with the renter, I answered all their many questions. Renter also opened every drawer, cabinet, closet, sat in every seating spot in the living room, and tried every space in the entire condo at the walk-through. I have never seen anyone do such a detailed time-consuming walk-through. She said nothing negative about the condo. She was happy with everything. They needed in-depth instructions on how to operate the TV, but I didn't mind and explained all her questions. Both the renter and I sat on the sofa when I explained the TV. She mentioned how comfortable and nice the sofa was. She ranted on and on about all the news channels she believed were all lies and I helped find her the channels she needed. The TV worked fine. I am very hands-on at managing my rentals and strive to make guests happy. I am very knowledgeable about the condition of all items in the rental. The renter and her husband seemed very happy with the rental when I left. About a week later the renter called and said the heat did not work and she needed me to come now. I asked what the thermostat said the temperature was or if she had an error message. She refused to answer and said she was not looking at it and to come right away! I immediately went there. We are in FL so it doesn't get super cold, but it was a little chilly outside. When I arrived at the condo a few minutes later the thermostat said 78 degrees and the heat was working fine! Renter completely lied to get me there! Then I realized the real reason she needed me there was about half the lights in the condo were out. She had tripped breakers! This has never happened in this unit, but the renter was running a huge space heater which tripped the breakers and the renter did not know where the breaker box was. I reset the breakers and the lights came back on in the living room where the space heater was the temperature was about 90 degrees or higher in the living room and dining area. We do not allow space heaters as they are a fire hazard and when I questioned the huge space heater she told me she brings it everywhere with her when she travels as no hotel or rental is ever warm enough for her. Our heat and AC work fine and I have not had a complaint about either before. Then I patiently listened to a very long list of ridiculous demands the renter wanted me to change for her. Our listing is not listed as handicapped accessible, but she wanted me to install many handicap bars in the unit for her. She wanted me to change the mattress on the king-size beds for her which is normal height to a much shorter to the ground for her. She wanted me to buy new half-thick mattresses for her. Our king mattresses are of excellent quality and newer. I proved this to VRBO by sending photos of them with the quilt, sheets, and mattress protectors removed. Renter also wanted me to replace placemats on the dining room table and pillows on the sofa because she did not like them. The absurd list of her demands went on and on. My rental listing looks exactly like our current photos of it. She was also ranting about the ice age coming, how global warming does not exist, conspiracy theories, and tried to engage me in her strong political beliefs which I did not engage in. When I did not engage in any of her harsh, rude comments or political rants her bullying behavior and threats began. I also did not cave into all her demands so then she would lie saying it is broken or lumpy to try and get her way. All the furniture is newer. She threatened me and the rental, said I would be sorry, she always gets what she wants, and ranted on and on about how she will get her way. I also noted several of my rental rules that the renter agreed she was breaking and these were all reported to VRBO after the renter left. I want guests to have a happy and pleasant stay and I don't care what their personal or political beliefs are. I have never encountered any renter with such a harsh personality who just would scam and compulsively lie about issues which she would make up to seek revenge or try and get people to give in to her ridiculous baseless demands. The renter complained about the sofa she really liked a week earlier because it was hard for her to get in and out of, but in fairness, she probably had this problem with everything as she was using a walker and is a larger size than most people. She wanted me to put a board under the cushions to make it stiffer for her and easier to get up from. I do not sink into the sofa at all when I sit on it. Her husband who was a taller and a normal-sized man did not sink into the sofa either, but the renter Lynne probably did weigh at least 3 or 4 times what I do so I did agree to that demand and I went to both Lowes & Home Depot to find a very thick piece of sanded plywood and have it cut to size and went back and put it under the sofa cushions so she could get up easier from it. Lynne was using a walker so she probably should have rented a handicapped-modified property for her needs, but I was trying to do what I could for her and ended up spending $100 on the board only because I thought she was going to be there for a while and I was trying to make her happy because at the time I thought she was a paying customer. The renters removed both the tub and sink drains and this was noted when I was there and addressed along with other things they were doing that could cause damage and are against rental rules. I replaced drains, but renters removed them by the time I arrived the next day when they said the plumbing was having issues. When I arrived after talking to them on the phone and I already scheduled a plumber that was due to arrive shortly. The renters were already packing up to leave before I arrived. The plumbing was not inoperable as the toilet could still flush, but the tub drain was slower than it should be. In fact when I arrived the husband compulsively flushed the toilet 7 times in a row to show me the plumbing issue as it did not show up until after it was flushed 7 times in a row. Then the husband continued to run water in the kitchen just fine as he was damaging the countertop with harsh chemicals I already told him not to use on the granite the day before. All of the other units in the building's plumbing was fine. The plumber I called arrived in less than 2 hours and the clog the renters caused under the tub drain was fixed and there has not been an issue since. When I spoke to Lynne that morning on the phone I told her I was calling a plumber and would be there shortly to look at the issue and wait for the plumber. When I arrived I told them the plumber was on the way I went into another unit that was vacant that day to wait for the plumber to arrive. The renter's husband was packing up their vehicle. Lynne had already threatened to leave the prior day before any plumbing issue occurred and to come after me, saying how sorry I will be, how I will get nothing, and making many threats that I did not engage in if I did not meet all of her demands and kept bragging that she always gets what she wants as all she has to do is harass and bully people. Lynne had very abusive behavior towards me. Obviously, I am not going to entirely change the property from what is advertised to meet her unrealistic personal demands which were never agreed to and it would probably cost $20,000. I also don't think this renter would ever be happy as she was determined to find a way to leave. When the renters were packing up. I mentioned again the plumber would be there shortly. I asked if they were coming back. They laughed, made snide rude comments, and said no they were just leaving, not returning, and going to a hotel. I said the plumbing would probably be fixed before they could even check into a hotel that day and it was fixed shortly after they left. I did not engage in her snide behavior was always pleasant to her. I then said I would be waiting for the plumber who was due to arrive at any moment in another unit in the building that was empty that day. Lynne made several snide rude comments and threats towards me. She said I would be sorry, laughed, said I would get nothing and she knows how to handle this, I will see what happens on and on... Basically, this person is trying to destroy my property and business with damages and lies and she is very proud of what her lying, bullying, threatening behavior gets her in life and thrives on getting her way at any cost necessary. It is hard to believe someone like this exists and is not in jail yet. After I went into another unit to wait for a plumber the renters continued to pack up and left completely by their own choice. They took 100% of their belongings. Shortly after the plumber arrived and unclogged the issue that the renters caused. I should note again absolutely everything in the rental unit was gone that belonged to the renters. They took all of their many bags, clothes, everything including all food from the refrigerator and cabinets. They even took paper towels and toilet paper. They left no personal belongings inside the property. After the plumbing clog they caused was quickly fixed I left the property. The door code was not changed. I did not have a cleaning company scheduled as the renters left early. The renters did not return that day the next day or even the next week. I called VRBO and reported the incident. It was over a week after the renters vacated the property by their own choice till the renters called VRBO and came up with their ridiculous fabricated storyline. Per the rental agreement, rental rules, and any rental on VRBO if any renter vacates early a property is not refundable. My calendar on VRBO also remained blocked out for their entire stay. Obviously, at a certain point the property was cleaned or it could of become a hazard as the wet towels left crumpled up in a ball could have become moldy and trash left in a garbage can become a problem. After the renters did not return for many days, call and of course said they were leaving while making snide threats to destroy me the property was deeply cleaned after their stay. After that of course the door code was changed like always for the safety of the next guests and the rental. I should note there were exterior security cameras on the property and I sent to VRBO over 40 video clips of the renters bringing out all their belongings to their vehicle when they chose to depart early while I waited in another unit for the plumber to arrive. It also showed them packing up before I arrived. I also had security clips of a plumber arriving and a plumbing bill that I sent to VRBO providing proof that the plumbing issue was quickly fixed that day. I also sent multiple photos of items the renter said were faulty or broken to VRBO to prove that the renter was clearly lying. It is very disappointing that a renter is able to defraud and scam and then able to leave a review so I wanted to leave a long detailed response to this criminal behavior. My calendar was blocked out for 43 nights for these guests and never unblocked. I received no payment for their entire lengthy stay. Both myself and my property were bashed and libel was committed by the renters. Not only did the renters stay for a prolonged period and not pay any rent the property incurred damages, repair bills, excessive utility bills, and cleaning fees due to these scammers who only pretended to be legitimate renters. I have wasted endless hours of time on this trying to make the renters committing fraud happy and then endless hours on this case. This was truly a horrible VRBO experience! As a host, I have had multiple rental properties listed with VRBO for many years and the lack of host support from VRBO is extremely disappointing!
