This place worked out great! The property manager was very helpful. We enjoyed the house and bunkhouse so much. It is the perfect location in Helen. We enjoyed hotdogs and sâmores at the fire pit and dips in the hot tub. It was such a great place!!
This was a great place to get away with family for Thanksgiving. Nice, pet friendly older farmhouse on the outskirts of Helen, GA. Even though the internet and cell service were limited we enjoyed our stay and it forced the grandkids to spend more time with us around the fire pit.
This place was awesome , so much space , indoor and outdide ! We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful vacation home !! We will come back Thank you Dana and Dave Lauterbach
We used to live in the area and came up to visit family and friends for the holiday. The house was perfect for our family/friend Christmas gathering. Great location cute house with everything you need, except wifi. Would definitely stay again.
Plenty of room for guests and very easy to get to and from Helen. Shawn was very responsive when we had questions and was very helpful. The bunk house was an added plus and help creates more room for more people.
We arrived to a charming old country decorated home. The home was clean and beds comfortable. We had an amazing time in the home and enjoyed watching the wild turkeys grazing in the yard. We had an amazing 5 days at Helen and hated to leave.
The place was as described. It was spacious, with enough rooms for everyone. The location was very good, it was close to the center of Helen and it was easy to get in and get out. The screened porch was also a plus. Overall it was of great value.
We had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed staying here. There was plenty of room and the history of this house was amazing. The porches were awesome and the location was perfect. Close to town but quiet neighborhood. The bathroom in the bedroom is somewhat small, but doable. Canât wait to go back and will definitely stay again. â€ïž
Families from California, Missouri, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and South Carolina stayed at this lovely farmhouse. We gathered here just a step outside of busy Helen to sleep peacefully and enjoyed the quiet. This home had many, many spaces available for separate talks among the family and also large spaces for when we all were together laughing.
Main house master bedroom was interesting to stay in to say the least as we experienced something that caused goosebumps and my dogs to freak out. We ended up staying in the bunk house because of the ghostly experience we had in the master. Besides that the house and overall experience was good.
We had a great time in Helen and the owner was very easy to reach when needed. The location was wonderful and close to everything in town. We realize it is an older home and that's fine, but there were several broken items that need to be repaired or just removed: foosball table, wobbly dining chairs, lamps, stool. It would be really great with some minor updating - old curtains and bedspreads need replaced. Otherwise, it was a great space with plenty of room for a family.
Shawn was incredible to work with. There was a burst pipe (weather related) when we arrived but her team took care of everything and we were able to stay with no problems. The house is comfortable and we had all the amenities needed to cook meals (fyi - there is no food delivery we found out the hard way :)). The porch was a relaxing place to sit and the fire pit out back was cozy. We did not use the cabin but if we had teenagers they would have loved it.
We had a great family Christmas at the house! Plenty of room! All the things we needed to cook with- even measuring spoons and cups!
The internet and phone service were horrible though, just be warned. None of iour 8 different plans of Verizon tower phones could get any signal, but my granddaughters ATT did work fine. The tv worked well too and had many premium channels to keep the kids occupied⊠but they loved the tire swing and yard more!
Overall it was pretty cool and old time homey and Helen was beautifully decorated for the holidays!!đ
Our 3 generation family stayed in the Farmhouse over a late February weekend to celebrate a number of birthdays. The close proximity to tourist kitsch in Helen and beautiful hiking at Unicoi was great, the retro decor was nostalgic for us grandparents and the kids especially enjoyed their own private bunkhouse. A very friendly neighborhood cat was a big plus - along with the tire swing, pool table and firepit. Shawn was immediate in helping us solve the fireplace lighting (unlit pilot light) by text. All cell phone coverage in that area is spotty - we could call out by standing in the street but not in the house - until we switched to internet calling which then worked perfectly.
Homey, comfortablle space and lovely screened in porch
The place was very charming with that old farmhouse feel. The pool table was a hit. The screend in porch was very nice. We loved the yard and the fire pit. We have a visit from a flock of turkeys. The kitchen had a lot of stuff but could use an update to cull out some of the outdated well used pots and pans, glasses, cups, plates, there were no bowls. We had to go out and buy plasic bowls and a can opener. We left the can opener for future guests. Otherwise, the place was very much like home, comfortable with a lot of space for us, our pups, and our adult kids. We enjoyed our stay there very much.
THE >ONLY >UPDATED THING IN WHOLE HOUSE WAS ONE BATHROOM AND IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO SHOWER FOR AN OLDER PERSON. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS WORN AND LOOKED AS IF IT CAME FROM A YARD SALE. FOR OVER SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR TWO NIGHTS WAS A WAIST OF MONEY.
Great house for family stay but needs some updating
This is a beautiful older home in a great location five minutes from downtown Helen by CAR. You cannot walk to town unless you want to take a dangerous walk along the main road which has no shoulder. There are three bedrooms and one bath in the main house and four bunk beds and a bathroom in the bunkhouse. The main house bathroom has a free standing tub which three family members loved. It was too tall a tub for older family members to climb in and out of so they had to use the bunkhouse shower which was not a big deal. The cable/internet was fine and the den furniture was comfortable. So were the beds. The living room furniture is badly in need of replacement - stained and uncomfortable. The kitchen also needs some updating, particularly the cookware which was old Teflon pans which were scratched and peeling. We fixed one meal there but didnât want to use the pans again. There was no doorknob on one of the bedroom doors (???!), just a hole where it should have been. Again overall, no major things wrong, just things that kept us from giving this stay five stars.
FULL Disclosure 1st - There was a domestic violence incident at a neighboring property the night of our arrival. We had to call the police, the male was arrested and the female had injuries, and didn't get to sleep before 3 AM. We were so concerned for our safety we left around 10 AM. We requested a refund, even partial, for the stay and that was not offered. The rest of this review is as a premier partner, with several properties, and not a result of the above.
The property is in need of an update. The porch screens have several openings so bugs get in and you'll be bitten. I assume this is why there were 2 spiders and a beetle in the house when we arrived. The blinds, where available, don't work well, or at all, so getting to sleep in is difficult. If you arrive at night you could have a very hard time finding the place. As both our kids, who arrived separately at different times, said " it looks like a grandma owns the house and it hasn't changed in decades". The towels and wash-cloths had seen better days years ago and my wife would not take shower since we did not bring our own.
The place could be a real gem with updating of the decor, the furnishings, and the amenities.
