Nice place. Good location. Walkable to fair, about 40 min.(although it was so hot we didn't). Cute little neighbor hood shops scattered around. Just a note- all entry ways have stairs.

This place was amazing! We had the best time. So spacious it had historic charm and also a modern vibe! Lots of room!!The pool, hot tub and bar were incredible. They also have a game room and a bunch of fun board games! The rooms were very spacious and everything was very clean! I would absolutely rent it again!!!

Our favorite part of the trip was time spent together in the pool. The water was so warm. The kids enjoyed the slide and the adjacent zipline in the back yard. We took in the Mall of America and the Minnesota Zoo. We all had vehicles so everyone could plan their own day. A neighborhood ice cream shop also got a visit from our crew. It was a wonderful family time.

Great place for a family gathering. There was an issue with the pool heater when we arrived so the pool was still cold. The kids couldn't swim right away when we arrived so that was the only disappointment, but the host was excellent to work with and was very responsive. The pool got to a decent temp on our 2nd day and was usable the rest of our stay. It is an old house with a lot of charm and a few quirks. The backyard is great. The kids had a great time with the games in the basement as well!

Huge home! Clean with all towels, blankets that could be needed for both pool and for bathing. Pool was beautiful and clean as was hot tub. Zip line in back yard was fun. Met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations.

The dead of winter is not necessarily the best time to visit the Twin Cities, but the "Castle" was an excellent place to have our large extended family stay as we attended the memorial service for our 96 year old mother, grandmother and great grandmother. There was plenty of room, the kitchen was well appointed and everything for a comfortable stay was provided. Our hosts were attentive and available when we had a question. Check in and out went smoothly and everything was as described in the VRBO listing. Thank you, Rachel and Charlie for making our stay warm and relaxing. We were able to enjoy our time together and celebrate the wonderful life of an amazing person who was so important in our lives.

During our stay, the property did not meet Vrbo’s standards for cleanliness, safety, or overall quality, especially considering the cost of more than 2,800 for a single night.Upon arrival, we found that the refrigerator had not been cleaned. There was clear evidence of a pest issue, including gnats flying throughout the home, flies, ants crawling on the living room curtains, and a spider on a kitchen chair. The house also had a strong smoke odor, making it uncomfortable to remain indoors. Outside, there was a dead bird on the walkway leading to the home, and the swimming pool was not clean or properly maintained.Additionally, there was a serious safety concern when my son became locked inside a bedroom due to a broken doorknob. This created both distress and a potential emergency situation.The host was also excessively strict regarding the City of St. Paul’s 10:00 p.m. noise ordinance. Shortly after 10:00 p.m., I received a message stating that the property’s noise monitoring system had detected sound on the back patio. At that time, only four family members were quietly sitting outside having a low-volume conversation. There was no party or excessive noise.I rented this property while my family was in town for my father’s funeral, expecting a clean, safe, and comfortable place to stay during a difficult time. Unfortunately, the condition of the property, the maintenance issues, and the overall experience fell far below Vrbo’s expectations for hosts.

We’re sorry the stay did not meet your expectations, particularly while your family was in town for your father’s funeral. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the home. Before your arrival, we noticed a smoke odor limited to the entryway, likely caused by the prior guests, and had already taken steps to address it. We apologize that any odor remained. We also took the concerns regarding the refrigerator, insects, pool, and bedroom doorknob seriously. The doorknob issue was addressed immediately after it was reported. Regarding the noise message, this was a last-minute, one-night reservation that Vrbo had flagged for increased party-risk awareness. Our exterior noise monitor then sent an alert shortly after the property’s 10:00 p.m. quiet hours began. The device does not record conversations, and our message was simply a reminder to keep outdoor noise low, not an accusation that your family was having a party. We regret that the home did not provide the comfortable experience your family expected during a difficult time, and we appreciate the feedback.

Great space for a large group! Lots of bedrooms and different rooms to hang out with our group aged 15-90 years old during Thanksgiving weekend. We had 12 sleep at the house, and 20 there for Thanksgiving dinner. Plenty of space to sit for dinner, play games, watch football. Perfect kitchen to work together to prep meals. The neighborhood is amazing with a co-op, coffee shops and restaurants all in walking distance.Downsides: Host did not respond in a timely manner to questions before or during our stay, and when they did respond, it was an incomplete answer. I believe we paid premium price because it was Thanksgiving (compared to posted prices for weekends before and after), and regardless I'm used to VRBO hosts who respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours, and always check to see if there are questions on the day of check in. In this case, day of check-in was day before Thanksgiving for a large group, so when we didn't hear back we knew we wouldn't hear back until day after Thanksgiving which was Day 3/4. This was disappointing, and doesn't match reviews of other guests in 2025 so was also surprising.Heads up the outlets, light switches, and lights are a little wonky. For example, a specific light switch has to be on in the basement in order for the TV to power on in the main floor. No big deal, but tricky to figure out! Love an old home, but would be great if host had handbook or guide for quirks of the property.
