Country house with oustanding views of the Val di Comino
This tastefully renovated property dates back 400years and is situated in a Medieval Village in the Comino Valley mid way between Rome and Naples. It is a perfect base to explore Italy being just over one hour south of Rome, one hour north of Naples, one hour from the fabulous beaches at Formia and on the very edge of the Abruzzo National Park.. The famous Forte family (Rocco Forte) are from the next village and have built a sports complex with a tennis court, rugby/football pitch and a recently installed astro turf 5 aside football pitch donated by the Italian 2006 world cup winning team.Enjoy fabulous walks and superb cycling around the amazing tiny villages on quiet tracks or roads. This area is nicknamed locally as âLittle Irelandâ due to local family ties so English is widely spoken in shops and restaurants. The authentic elegant restaurants could not fail to impress the most discerning palette. Being south of Rome prices are very reasonable - one walking distance from the house.
Coast/Beach: 1 hours drive to the beaches of Gaeta, Formia, Scauri. Easy 2 get to. 2 hours 30 mins to the Amalfi coast, Sorento etc. Skiing: Ski resort Pescaseroli 45 mins. Abruzzo mountains with cross country skiing and downhill, very easy to drive to on one road. Travel: Airports 1 hour 30 mins from Ciampino or Naples. Car is essential as Lesche is a mountain village. Distances: 20 mins to cassino with the Abbey of Monte Cassino. 15 mins to Posto Fibreno natural lake, San Donato, Alvito. Atina villages within 15 mins, medieval Roman villages. Thanks Robert for letting us use your wonderful house on the week leading up to our wedding! What a setting! What a place to seriously get away from it all, take in amazing views and just chill out. It may look old from the outside, but inside is very well decorated, with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. I'd certainly recommend this place to my friends!
Thanks again!

Lovely home, however, there were some issues. Almost every dish we pulled out was dirty and unfortunately we kept having to deal with ants by the front door area, where the garbage/recycling bins were. Communication with the host was ok. I didn't get responses to questions asked prior to arriving, which is bad form.
Very nice property. Clean, spacious and comfortable. It is located in Lesche, part of Casalattico.
We were comfortable in this property. It was clean and very quiet. We were well positioned to visit many locations in the Comino valley.
That said, the check-in process was nearly impossible ahead of time. I sent Robert several messages which he never answered. I finally called him on our way to the property. He apologized - saying his wife had been ill. It did make sense but the experience makes me not want to use vrbo again.
The other problem was WiFi and TV did not work. Robert advised us of a coffee shop - which was great for the WiFi. The TV - NBD.
The views are spectacular and it is a very peaceful setting. The down stairs and upstairs bedrooms are accessed by outside stairs and therefore not suitable for young children. The furnishings are lovely and modern with a light airy feel. There was however, mould on the ceiling in the ground floor bedroom when we stayed at the property which needs to be addressed. The villa was clean and smart but there was one oversight and that was when arrived the dish washer was full of dirty dishes! There are more positives than negatives with this property and overall, I would recommend it.
