Lots of room for a large family gathering to attend a funeral. There were a few issues that came up such as for hot water turn knob to cold and vice versa, some strange noises and neighbor parking in the only parking spot late in the evening but the owner responded to issues. Kitchen, dining and living room is on the 2nd floor.
Great Space/Location - Below Average Accommodations
The house was large and a great fit for 9 people, plenty of bathrooms and space to hangout. It was only an $11 Uber to get to Clarendon which was great as it was a ladies trip and we spent Saturday night bar hopping. The kitchen was well equipped, plenty of paper towels and trash bags, etc.
I will say when I arrived there were dirty dishes in the sink, counter tops were sticky and one of the windows had been left open so the house was VERY hot. I also immediately realized that the Nest system they list is locked at a temperature of 72 degrees. The upstairs bedrooms had window AC units so that helped with them but the basement bedroom (where I slept) did not have one was quite hot for the entire stay. So there is air conditioning, but it's not centrally controllable and we noticed during the day the temp got up to 76 in the house... not what we expected but it didn't ruin our trip. Just something to note if you have guests that may not enjoy the heat.
We had a great time and space and location wise this was the perfect place, though I'd recommend staying somewhere else in the middle of the summer and if you prefer a clean kitchen when you arrive.
This home has some things to be improved. Entry lock never functioned properly and no attempt was made to repair by owner. We were instructed to enter through garage but with no key to interior door it was unsettling as the door could easily be locked by mistake. Door bell did not work. Living room TV was roku so be ready for a challenge to adjust volume and live without some stations. Kitchen supplies are collection from yard sales. No forks
Matched and there were only 6 dinner and 2 salad. 1 coffee cup of 4 was already removed to Laundry due to crack and we removed chipped glass also 1 of 4 non matching. As it was freezing outside it was bad to find ground floor bedroom had a free standing plug in electric heater and no heat in bathroom. We do not feel these heaters are safe. The upper levels were controlled in living room but on our last night the heat went to 80 which we struggled through the night to reset without success. 3 floor bedroom window cracked and many windows so out of plumb would not latch. One ceiling fan never did work while the other controlled in hallway outside bedroom. Beds were not top notch. Only master bedroom could accommodate dresses or coatd as the rest had shelf and 1/2 bars that were too short for a mans shirt. No mirrors in bedrooms which would open up the main bath. Garage extremely narrow riders had to exit outside and squeeze past car and trash cans to get in house. Only room for 1 car behind with no street parking in the court. Daybeds were dual purpose sofas in living and dining chairs had to be pulled in to accommodate more than 3-4 people. Living room lighting was very poor 1 goose neck reading lamp and 2 very small lamps that would not even work in a bedroom. Window treatments poor and some broken or soiled. The only thing good was it was convenient to the National Cemetery and we were able to visit with other family by sharing a
I am sorry you found issues at home. Just to be clear on your issues -
1) the door lock battery needed to be replaced. You asked me you would be OK using the garage.
2) ROKU - its the latest TV and the latest Remote, you need to follow the instructions in the manual left on the desk on how to use it
3) Kitchen Supplies - I would be glad to send you receipts of all the items. We keep everything top class to comfort our guests
4) Temperature - I told you that you dont need to turn the AC ON, since the weather will be very cold, you forced me to turn the AC on, then you complain about it was cold.
5) The Thermostat - its 3rd generation NEST thermostat. no one finds it difficult to use, you should have just called me and asked for instructions to use
6) Ceiling fans: when you are saying it was cold, you shouldnt be worrying about ceiling fans. They were turned off during the winter
7) Parking: Its mentioned in the instructions, ONE CAR IN Garage and one on driveway, if you need additional parking, the passes will be provided to be parked on street. I also told you the same on our phone conversation.
We stayed here for Spring Break - it's a great location, with the Washington Mall and other sights in DC & VA within a short drive. Very convenient access to grocery and other stores as well as the DCA airport. It worked very well for us; 4 bedrooms are a blessing and we would readily recommend to others!
I am glad you liked our home. You have also been the best guest, left home in excellent condition.
Lots of room, conveniently located
Our extended family stayed here in advance of a military funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. Parking can be tricky if you have large vehicles. One will fit in the garage, with one in the driveway. Our mini-vans wouldn't fit in the garage, so we had to find on-street parking. That was not too difficult, though.
