Escape to this charming downtown beach cottage, a perfect blend of historic charm and modern convenience. This cozy retreat features a spacious outdoor area with a solid wood dining table that seats eight and a Solo stove for roasting s'mores, all under a majestic 100 year old oak. Upon entering the screened in front porch, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable accommodations for up to eight guests. You won't regret staying at this 120 year old historical cottage ideally located in the heart of downtown, nestled between churches and parks, just a short walk from shopping, dining, and the beach. Feel free to reach out to us during your stay - we're happy to suggest local spots to check out.
Our family loved this home with beautiful decor, great location near town, and one block from the water. We enjoyed the peaceful mornings sitting on the front porch drinking coffee. The kitchen seemed to be well stocked even though we chose to eat out. We were on our way to our family reunion or we would have loved to have stayed longer.
Let me just start by saying, the exterior photos may deter you BUT donât let them! The interior photos are true to post. Everything looked as pictured! This house, as we learned, is a historic 120 year old home that has been renovated but the owners still managed to keep the historic charm. The home has three large bedrooms (characteristic of older homes), a lovely dining room, spacious living area, and master edition. It has 3 full bath rooms (two with tubs/showers [1-clawfoot!], 1 with shower only). There is also a middle sleeping area with daybed and trundle that can be closed off from living and master. Plenty of sleeping quarters for larger families. The beds were comfortable (this is a must for me) and the linens and bedding were beautifully curated to lend to an ocean home feel with tasteful decor not typical of beach rentals. This home is in a quiet neighborhood, close enough to the hustle and bustle of the downtown area and not far from the beach. There are also a couple of close shops and restaurants outside of the Government Street area. The outdoor space in the back was very inviting and would be a great retreat for entertaining the family by grilling or just having your meal outdoors. The host was very communicative and helpful. She left a nice little treat for the guests on arrival. Lovely owners who care about the home ans guest experience! One downside is no golf cart BUT there is a rental in town! Stay here, you will not regret it!
