Fantastic base! Fantastic host. My only complaint would be that the place is minimally stockedâlike bare bones. Don't plan on cooking.Great pool too! If you like to eat out, I highly recommend.
Wow. La Punta and casa cali was awesome. From the moment we booked Scott our host made us feel very welcome and reassured that weâd made a good choice and our stay didnât disappointâŠ.canât wait to comeback one day!
Casa Cali is in a great location, the house is really beautiful and is ideal for a short vacation, there is and ant problem and we did find a scorpion on one of the rooms but plague control can fix that!
Good location and great pool but basically a beach house
This is a kind of curious property. It could be fantastic, but the maintenene has not been totally kept up (the dresser in one room had a broken drawer) and furnishings are pretty basic - there is nowhere to put open suitcases (a few luggage racks would be extremely helpful). Beds are reasonably comfortable. Even though they knew the fan was not working in one of the bedrooms, it was not repaired before we arrived; the controller for the outside fan on the upper level was missing and they did not seem to know this until we told them about it. Still, the space is comfortable (if odd - the second level is accessed through an external staircase, not through the building). The pool is the best thing about the house, particularly given the hot weather - not for lap swimming but great for hanging out (though a bit challenging to get in and out of). The A/C works well, particularly on the upper levels. The verandahs are quite lovely as well, as is the dining room table on the downstairs outside patio - also a nice place to hang out. The (surfing) beach is one block away, and until someone builds on the empty lot in front, there are ocean views from the second level. The house is at the less developed end of town, but town is small and everything is quite walkable. Cabs are easily available (inexpensive) 2 blocks away to take you to swimming beaches (still serious undertows), restaurants, etc. So, kind of a basic beach house, with lots of space, A/C and a good pool.
This little cottage was a great place to stay while we explored the Zicatela area. Close to Restaurants if you want to go out and basic amenities if you want to eat in. So close to the beach it made morning walks and sunset viewing so enjoyable. We also enjoyed several afternoons just chilling in the private courtyard. Scott was very quick with communication when we had questions. A great property.
Easy walking to downtown Puerto Escondido, the Zicatela Market and to La Punta. So restaurant choices we could try new places every day. We enjoyed long walks on Zicatela Beach as well as going out to the beach to join everyone else for the gorgeous sunsets, tropical birds abound, flowers, shrubs, and whole trees in colorful bloom. Shopping everywhere was fun from the huge markets in downtown PE to clothes, art, and surf shops in La Punta. The breezy dozen or so restaurants high on the hill overlooking the ocean were wonderful at the Zicatela Market. Enjoy your time here.
We spent 17 days at this cute little place super close to Zicatela beach. The pictures on the listing donât do the place justice. Scott was great looking after any issues we had. The home is close to La Punta thatâs known for its party and night life. It gets quiet around 11 pretty much every night. Thereâs something for pretty much everyone here. Beach, shopping, restaurants, surfing, surf fishingâŠâŠ. If youâre not a super strong swimmer and you like taking a dip in the ocean, you will need to travel to a different beach. There are a few swimming beaches in Puerto but access isnât as easy as Zica.
We loved the location and just steps to the beach. The unit was spacious, clean and had everything we needed to feel like we had a home for our 10 days. Would highly recommend. Away from all the noise of the party scene but only a minutes walk to the Main Street. Scott was great!
This space was ideal for those looking to be as close to the beach and all that Puerto has to offer â but also looking for a quiet, serene space to come home to. We will 1000% be back again.
Extremely clean place with concrete floors, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and internet.....all very important to our travels.
Great location to the beach, La Punta (beach/town), small neighborhood markets, trendy restaurants, and its extremely easy to grab a taxi 1-block from the house.
Taxis are extremely inexpensive; seemed like every ride was $50 MXN ($2.45 USD) to the Zicatela strip (shopping/restaurants), Carrizalillo beach (best swimming beach with restaurants/bars on the sand), and name a place it will be $50 pesos for a taxi. We never waited more than a couple minutes for a Taxi to roll by.
Whale watching (saw humpback, Orca, dolphins, & turtles) was spectacular. Many companies offer this and we shoved off at Playa Puerto Angelito beach. This beach is more like a small âfishing villageâ and not for hanging out on the beach, but they do have restaurants on the beach.
Playa Zicatela Beach is phenomenal for Advanced Surfers. We saw amazing waves that rival the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii. Definitely worth a morning watch!
Great neighbourhood and lovely property. Outdoor shower! Flowering plants in garden! A comfy hammock and outdoor chairs and table. Spacious clean building with fans and AC. Everything provided that we needed. Loved the neighbour dogs and chickens and sheep and goats and close proximity to the beach - 2 minute walk. Totally walkable to commercial area of Punta and its restaurants and shops. Great people there. Bit of a disconnect trying to reach owner thru 2 cell numbers and WhatsApp - we were trying to arrange a fishing trip and had a tough time connecting. But he was very considerate and met us at the unit, even though we misjudged our travel time and were later than planned. He gave us a thorough over view of the "systems" of the unit (water, hot water and gas, A/C, garbage p/u and Water bottle delivery) and was also quick to respond when we lost our set of keys and couldn't access the unit. (and we paid the fee for that as well, which we expected) The neighbourhood laundry was so close, we used it several times - the ladies were very friendly. Overall I would rate this property a 4 out of 5. If it had a pool, I would consider it perfect.
A well-stocked and comfortable studio/casa on Zicatela Beach near the "Point". Quiet and steps to the ocean. The beach was never crowded and several small groceries and a laundry are nearby. Scott met me at the property for a much-appreciated early check-in after an early morning flight from Oaxaca. A great stay.
The property has a covered porch and drive surrounded by many species of tropical trees, plants, and flowering shrubs. There are banana plants, three types of Frangipani trees, parlor palms, cabbage palms, and three kinds of hibiscus. The porch features a hammock, table and chairs, and other furniture. The kitchen has everything you need for home-cooked meals. This is great if you donât want to visit the many nearby restaurants and when you get a great deal on red snapper, caught that morning and on your plate at night. I easily cooked full meals, many times in six weeks, for my wife and me. A hundred yards away, right around the corner is the three mile long Zicatela Beach and the majestic Pacific Ocean. The housekeeper keeps the place crystal clean. This casa is a cool refuge when the hot sun beats down. We filled the fridge with our favorite foods and beverages so when it is siesta time we can relax and take advantage of it.
Ruhige Lage, 2 Minuten vom Strand entfernt, sehr nette Nachbarn.
Wir haben uns sofort zu Hause gefĂŒhlt.
Scott Sousa ist ein sympathischer und hilfsbereiter Vermieter, reagierte sofort auf

We love our stay in this lovely cottage! Scott the owner welcomed us with a friendly smile! We will definitely book it again in our next trip to Puerto Escondido!! Highly recommended you will not regret booking this cottage!!
Had a lovely stay here, Scott is a great host and was very attentive and helpful. The location is perfect: quiet, safe, and steps to the beach. It was easy to get a taxi anywhere in PE from a block Away. The casita was very clean and comfortable as well, would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing beach stay.
The location is amazing! The beach is just steps away and a short walk to many wonderful restaurants. The house is very clean and updated. Just an incredible place to relax and enjoy life!
