Fantastic Bajan neighbourhood. Really friendly neighbours and and awesome dog across the street. 8 min walk to the best beach in Barbados (Carlisle Bay); that says a lot as Barbados is full of great beaches. Convenience stores all around, and more importantly, rum bars everywhere! The bus to Holetown/Speightstown is one block away, as is the bus to Oistins. Bridgetown is a 20 min walk, or thereâs a bus less than a block away. There were some mishaps as is common in Barbados, but Shawn responds immediately. The lower rating was due to the place needing some love regarding some items that need upgrading, as well as no beach towels or blankets. That said, I would definitely stay here again.
The care ans concern presented by ownership was impeccable. I greatly appreciated the hospitality and kindness offered to me from the moment of check in until departure.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone planning time in Barbados.
The property was very clean and I really liked having two bedrooms. I will say some of the appliances either did not work or did not work as intended. You will need to leave the back bedrooms open if you wish to cool the full apartment. Also, the water pressure leaves a lot to be desired and do not count on having consistent hot water. In terms of location, it was safe, however if you're looking for a beautiful vista, this does not give you that, but it is in the center of town and you can get to the various parts of the country easily. I would highly recommend you rent a car if you're staying at this property, but be prepared to park on the street as there is limited parking available at the property. Overall, if you're looking for a good budget property for stay in Barbados, this is a good choice.
We were favorably impressed with the outside appearance except for the steep staircase we werenât expecting. We felt secure with the security codes used on the gate and the door to our apartment since the overall appearance of the neighborhood is mixed.
The first impression of the apartment was very positive. The windows provided cross ventilation in the living room and kitchen.
The living room and bedroom furniture were in good working order except for one of the reading lamps in the in the primary bedroom. Both AC units worked well and were very quiet. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the linens were very good quality.
We loved the view out of the kitchen window since it provided a panoramic view of the neighborhood and a âpeek a booâ view of the ocean!
The refrigerator and stove were full sized and in good shape. The kitchen was âminimallyâ equipped for cooking in.
The plumbing issues offered the biggest challenge to us. The water pressure in the kitchen sink was very low so we carried hot water from the shower spout for washing dishes thoroughly. The bathroom faucet leaks behind the sink so the water flows onto the counter and sometimes down onto the floor rather than down the drain.
The TV service included many channels but the control box was "recalcitrant" at times!
One of the owners provides taxi and tour guide services that we really enjoyed!
The host was great. I liked that the doors used pin codes to enter. It basically had everything you would need. It was also nearby the airport so getting to and from was a short trip, less than 20 mins. Overall satisfied. I would stay there again if I visited Barbados.
The positive is that there is a very nice sandy beach 10 min. walk.
The appartment is wide, clean, quiet, within area of local peoples, of low incom, not a tourist area. But peoples are friendly and it is a secure area.
The price for a nice appartment is OK.
Shawn was awesome he picked us up at the airport then with out us even asking he offered to take us to the store before we went to the apartment to get food for the week and gave us a tour where things are that we might want to do or see. He also woke up at 4 in the morning to take us back to the airport as well.
This apartment rental is managed by my husband Shawn and I (Verna). I am a university lecturer, and he owns a small business. We love travelling, and understand the importance of a comfortable, safe, and accessible living accommodation in achieving this goal. We aim to provide a home for our guests, while they explore Barbados.
The location of this apartment on the outskirts of the city, allows for experiencing local life within a quiet, historical Bajan community, while allowing for easy access to the best beaches and beach life, as well as medical specialists all within less than 10 -12 mins walk. Bus stops are only 1-2 mins walk away to catch a bus to any part of the island, and parking allows for accommodating a rental to tour at your own pace.
Shawn also organizes personal tours of the island once booked in advance. We also accommodate (on demand) basic shopping in preparation for guest arrivals at a reasonable cost (especially helpfully for late check ins).
