This was a great spot for our big family. It was quick and easy to get into Boothbay and the host left us great detailed suggestions for things to do. The group also enjoyed the outdoor shower. The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning for most of the house. The people sleeping in the middle floor were quite uncomfortable trying to sleep.
This house is truly a labor of love. After a two-year search, we purchased it three years ago and have since devoted countless hours to restoring her to something of her former gloryâalways mindful of her history. There is still more to be done (the bathrooms are fully functional but could benefit from updates), yet we embrace the challenge and take great joy in sharing this home with family and friends. It is a special place that deserves to be cherished, and we hope your visit brings you peace and a deeper connection to nature, loved ones, and community.
It is truly a beautiful place to awaken each morningâlobster boats humming on the water as the sun rises over the gutâand equally enchanting to gaze at a sky full of stars at night, accompanied only by the croaking frogs and chirping cicadas.
While the house has been modernized, it still retains all of Maineâs enduring charm. In fact, when we purchased it, a friend implored us to ânot take the Maine out of the house.â As we have updated nearly every element to bring the home up to modern standards, weâve been guided at every step by that very plea.
