We had a wonderful stay at Magicâs Rest for a couples getaway in Lake Lure. The cabin was cozy, clean, and had such a warm mountain feel. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind together. We loved that it was located in a peaceful gated community, which made the stay feel even more private and relaxing. We especially appreciated how prompt and helpful the host was with answering questions during our stay. We had a little trouble getting the fireplace lit, and they responded quickly to help us, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable stay, and we would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing trip to Lake Lure.
The cabin was absolutely beautiful with added touches such as ... it was Christmas; had a tree, fireplace decorated, very cozy. Christmas day weather +70s.
Handbook was on the table with explicit directions EXCEPT for arriving at the gate which was closed. Didn't have a code beforehand, but did have the code inside the cabin; took me over an hour to get in. Called the host, but he never responded to any of the messages.
Dishwasher did not work. I guess I should have tested it upon arrival and I wouldn't have waited until midnight to turn it on to find that it didn't work (don't mind doing dishes, just not at midnight).
Would have stayed an extra day, but again, couldn't get in touch with the host.
Great cabin for a much needed get-away. 9 months after Hurricane Helene and the area is working its way back. We visited many different restaurants in the Lake Lure area. Chimney Rock re-opened June 27, 2025, so we visited there, too. The Lake Lure lake was not open at the time, but glad to see progress is moving forward with the restoration efforts. As for the cabin, the kitchen was well stocked with all the pots/pans, cooking utensils you'd need if you plan to cook in. Also had many of the items one might forget to bring (cooking spray, olive oil, spices, etc.). Plenty of room to spread out with two large areas for gatherings. While it was just the two of us, 6 could easily enjoy this cabin and not feel crowded. The wrap around deck was nice with plenty of rocking chairs to relax in and a nice view of the mountain range. We saw deer, rabbits and squirrels. Plenty of hiking trails to find. We would definitely stay here again.
