A bit of illusions
On the surface this unit looked amazing and we were happy that we got it. It is close to the east entrance of Yellowstone, which is what attracted us to it as well as the looks. I'm not being anal here but there are a number of items that need repair. The front door handle needs tightening, the amount of lighting is inadequate. The floor slopes to the center back of the unit causing the fridge to be unstable. The outlets by the heater on the back wall are not secure, the bathroom door does not close, the heater in the bathroom does not work. The large heating element on the stove does not work and the stove vent does not work, and there is no place to hang anything except the hook on the bathroom door.
Close to Yellowstone
This spot was beautiful. Great views and has everything we needed. An earlier comment said close to road. The cabin is on the side of the road but back enough that you really don't notice the traffic noise. (I have had closer to the road than this) . This was a great little cabin.
A good place to sleep. Just a nice little cabin.
I guess we are spoiled by hotels with nice a./c and very comfortable beds. But to sleep close to Yellowstone it is hard to beat.
This property is challenging to find. It’s barely off the highway but your inclination is to drive up the road aways. Even though it faces the Highway it was a quiet stay. Great spot if you want to be between Cody and Yellowstone Park.
Would not Recommend..
This was my families first time going to Yellowstone, we made reservations to stay at the Bear Cabin months in advance for a 4 night stay. We arrived to the cabin, we were advised that the cabin would be open with the keys inside. The cabin was clean but was about 40-50 ft. from the Hwy., heard the hwy. noise. After driving for 6 hours we went to the restaurant (use lightly), the cook cooks outside and the place was extermly warm. The food was not good. After dinner we went back to the cabin and we wanted to relax and get some sleep. We noticed a smell in the cabin, sewer/septic smell. Small cabin so we figured it hasn't been used for a while. So we went to bed opened the windows and turned on the portable fan to blow the room air out of the room. The next morning we woke up to find the smell is still there, we showered and went to Yellowstone, I called Brad the owner when I got cell service, he said he would check it and get back to us with what he found. After 7 hours we got back to the cabin no note or voicemail. Smell not as bad, but still there. Fast forward, to the last night the first contact with someone from the resort. Erin came up to the cabin how is everything going. We still have the septic smell, oh yea I came to the cabin yesterday and didn't smell anything. So she said that she would have Brad come down to the cabin later after dinner. Guess what never heard another word again. We checked out the following morning as planned, my family feels that we were dismissed and ignored. Final note I would check other locations before you stay here, other locations around the same area for the same money or a bit more. Sorry for being so long.
I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Sometimes it is hard to catch the guests at their cabin. Many leave early and get back late from Yellowstone. I went in the cabin every day to check and I found nothing. I left a note the first time I checked the cabin. I'm sorry you didn't see that. I didn't hear back from you so after checking the cabin every day and finding nothing, I assumed everything was ok.
