4 out of 10 is an insult and I feel, quite undeserved! You didnt read the description of Edgewater as it clearly states multiple times that the owners live downstairs. We hardly saw your party the entire time and wondered why you didnt take advantage of the wide array of amenities we offer. In all our years of hosting ..this is a first..that you were too "uncomfortable" to partake in the "limited" amenities? We have put our heart and soul into creating a peaceful and welcoming retreat here in Hertford and it is truly disheartening to receive a review like this.

We were glad to see you enjoying the kayaks! The shallow cove does create lots of fun water opportunities! You'll have to return and take longer kayak trips through the canals, now that you are no longer beginners at paddling.

So happy that you had a great vacation! The herons have been out there in full force all summer! We have the hammock permanently installed on the new beach for your relaxing pleasure next time you visit! Very excited to be installing an in ground pool for the next season!

Thank you for coming! Alan and I are glad you all enjoyed yourselves. You are correct--- coffee is best enjoyed every morning outside, preferably on the pier! We continue to make improvements to the property and hope you will return to enjoy both inside and out !

First of all, Nora and I want to thank you personally for such a nice review. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and it was everything you wanted. We really enjoyed meeting you and your family and you are always welcome to come back anytime you like. Just give us a call. We hope to offer more amenities next year that you will be able to take advantage of such as art, music, yoga, featured films in the new movie room along with limited concierge service. More good news is we just signed a contract with Southern Scapes Pool & Landscape Design and have acquired the CAMA permits to start building the new salt water swimming pool which includes a heater and a cooler. They will be starting in February 2017 which means it will be open next season. At this time, we only plan to rent the entire home out 6 to 8 weeks a year. In 2018, it will be in the May and June time frame. Rest of the time the upstairs will be able to be rented out with full house and access to all the amenities, even if the site shows no availability. Just give us a call first. We also want to thank you for staying at the home and taking your time to write your review. We are glad you enjoyed the bikes and kayaks. The small towns and restaurants are wonderful and have some really great people. As you probably found out, it is hard to get a "quick" lunch around here at the restaurants. It is a more laid back style of living which gives you time to enjoy the meal and the people you are with.

We enjoyed meeting you as well! Thanks for taking such good care of the place and kicking the season off to a wonderful start with a great family who enjoyed all the fun amenities and local attractions. Hope to see you again!!

We were also happy to meet your family and that you enjoyed the home. We look forward to meeting you again. Setting outside and enjoying the views at the end of the pier or off of the beach is also one of our favorite things to do. We are hoping to have some new seating areas installed sometime this spring on the pier Along with the chairs there now.

We want to thank you for choosing Edgewater to stay at. We are looking forward to seeing you and your boys next year. We enjoy the place also. The area is so beautiful that we have purchased another place a couple of blocks over and have started the process of building another house.

During the guests stay from August 8-16, we had no idea that there was any problem of any kind. Our renter stated in the review that she woke up the first day “with skin crawling”. We never received a call and we are very clear if there is a problem, please contact us. and we will respond ASAP. We looked at the photograph of a piece of furniture that we do not recognize and wonder why this was not brought to our attention immediately. It puzzles us that our renter would have time to photograph these “infestations” for posting later on the web. We received a call from her husband on August 24 and called Orkin immediately to inspect for bedbugs. Inspector started in the downstairs master bedroom, took the entire bed apart, and checked the base boards, behind pictures, furniture, curtains, crown molding and everything that was cloth, along with the closet and extra blankets and sheets. He could only find 3 adults and a grouping of eggs in the left corner of the box spring, not the bed frame, in the master bedroom. After inspecting the entire rest of the house, he said to the best of his knowledge that there is no infestation because there were only 3. The person that came to treat the house the next morning, to our relief, repeated the same thing as the inspector and could not find anything either. The pest control person was very surprised that the family would have been so bitten and wondered if the bites were sand fleas or mosquitos. The inspector told us that if the luggage was completely infested, as we were told, perhaps they came from another source, maybe on the way to our place. The renter requested that her entire payment should be refunded to her and informed me that I should know the power of social media and she would be posting pictures. Unfortunately, even in the best of situations, bedbugs can hitchhike their way into a property. It is with due diligence that responsible owners have regular inspections and thorough cleanings in between renters. Not only do we have the professionals on a regular basis (every two months), we have our own sprays, have encased the mattresses and box springs in protectors, and now will ask that our renters never place their suitcases on the beds. We are very sorry that this renter had an unfortunate experience, did not communicate any issues to us in a timely manner, and has chosen to describe our lovely getaway home as a “filthy infested property”. We hope all of our guests enjoy their stay at Edgewater.
