Meet Your Hosts

We’re Lucy and James, and together with our two young sons, we’re delighted to welcome guests to Little Vines.

Originally from the UK (Lucy) and Malta (James), we moved to Cape Town in 2017 for what was meant to be a two-year adventure. We quickly fell in love with the Constantia Valley and all that Cape Town has to offer, and many years later we’re still here, happily calling it home.

What drew us here was the incredible lifestyle – sunshine, mountains, vineyards and endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Whether we’re exploring local wine estates, walking the surrounding trails, enjoying family beach days or discovering new corners of the city, we’re constantly reminded how fortunate we are to live in such a special place.

Hosting at Little Vines is about more than providing accommodation. We love creating a warm, welcoming space where guests can relax, unwind and experience the very best of Constantia and Cape Town. Each cottage has been thoughtfully designed to feel comfortable and homely, whether you’re visiting for a short holiday, a family getaway or a longer stay.

We’re always happy to share local recommendations, from our favourite restaurants and wine farms to scenic walks, beaches and hidden gems. Helping guests discover the things that make this area so special is one of the parts of hosting that we enjoy most.

We chose Constantia because it offers the best of both worlds – the peace and beauty of wine country, yet only a short drive from Cape Town’s city centre, beaches, and iconic landmarks. Surrounded by mountains, forests, and rolling vineyards, it feels like a countryside retreat while still being close to everything you could need.

Constantia is South Africa’s oldest wine-producing region, and the history here is incredible. Groot Constantia, the country’s first and most famous wine estate, is right on our doorstep, and we love being able to walk through the vines, enjoy a tasting, or stop for a long lunch with friends at one of its restaurants. Beyond Groot Constantia, the valley is full of award-winning wineries, fine dining, local markets, and scenic walking trails.

What we enjoy most is the sense of tranquillity and space. Mornings often begin with birdsong and mountain views, while evenings end with sunsets that light up the vineyards. It’s also a safe, family-friendly community with excellent schools, parks, and outdoor spaces.

For us, Constantia captures everything we hoped for when we moved to Cape Town: natural beauty, rich history, world-class food and wine, and easy access to the city and coast. It’s a place where life feels both relaxed and inspiring – and we love sharing it with our guests.

Peacock Cottage offers a rare combination of space, comfort and vineyard living in the heart of Constantia. Set within beautiful gardens with mountain views, a solar-heated pool and direct access to the historic Groot Constantia wine estate, it provides a truly unique Cape Town experience.

One of the cottage’s most special features is its private garden gate leading directly into the vineyards. Guests can enjoy scenic walks among the vines, award-winning wine tastings, or long lunches at one of Groot Constantia’s renowned restaurants, all just moments from their doorstep.

Designed with both families and couples in mind, Peacock Cottage offers two comfortable bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom for added privacy and convenience. The main bedroom features a queen-size bed, while the second bedroom has twin beds, making it ideal for families travelling with children. A spacious open-plan living area and fully equipped kitchen provide everything needed for both short holidays and longer stays.

Outdoor living is at the heart of the Peacock Cottage experience. The private veranda overlooks the gardens, pool, vineyards and surrounding mountains, creating the perfect setting for morning coffee, relaxed family meals or a glass of local wine at sunset. A built-in braai, outdoor dining area and comfortable seating encourage guests to slow down and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Families particularly appreciate the child-friendly garden, jungle gym, toys and books, while couples love the tranquillity, beautiful scenery and easy access to Constantia’s celebrated wine estates and restaurants.
