We’re Lucy and James, originally from the UK (Lucy) and Malta (James). What began as a two-year adventure to Cape Town in 2017 quickly became a forever home. Seven years later, we’re raising our two boys in the beautiful Constantia Valley and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

We fell in love with Cape Town for its sunshine, mountains, vineyards, and relaxed lifestyle. We enjoy exploring local wine estates, hiking the trails around Table Mountain, and sharing this special part of the world with friends, family, and our guests.

Hosting our cottages has become more than just looking after properties – it’s about creating a welcoming home-from-home for travellers from around the world. We’ve designed each space with comfort and convenience in mind, adding thoughtful touches to make them family-friendly, practical for longer stays, and perfectly suited to both relaxation and adventure.

As your hosts, we’re always happy to share local tips – whether it’s the best nearby wine estate for a long lunch, a favourite coastal drive, or family-friendly hikes and beaches. What we love most is helping guests discover why Constantia, and Cape Town as a whole, is so unique.

We chose Constantia because it offers the best of both worlds – the peace and beauty of wine country, yet only a short drive from Cape Town’s city centre, beaches, and iconic landmarks. Surrounded by mountains, forests, and rolling vineyards, it feels like a countryside retreat while still being close to everything you could need.

Constantia is South Africa’s oldest wine-producing region, and the history here is incredible. Groot Constantia, the country’s first and most famous wine estate, is right on our doorstep, and we love being able to walk through the vines, enjoy a tasting, or stop for a long lunch with friends at one of its restaurants. Beyond Groot Constantia, the valley is full of award-winning wineries, fine dining, local markets, and scenic walking trails.

What we enjoy most is the sense of tranquillity and space. Mornings often begin with birdsong and mountain views, while evenings end with sunsets that light up the vineyards. It’s also a safe, family-friendly community with excellent schools, parks, and outdoor spaces.

For us, Constantia captures everything we hoped for when we moved to Cape Town: natural beauty, rich history, world-class food and wine, and easy access to the city and coast. It’s a place where life feels both relaxed and inspiring – and we love sharing it with our guests.

Peacock Cottage is a spacious two-bedroom retreat in Constantia that combines family-friendly comfort with the rare experience of vineyard living. What makes it truly unique is its setting: nestled in lush gardens with a solar-heated pool, it has direct access to Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest and most historic wine estate. From your garden gate, you can step straight into the vineyards for morning walks, wine tastings, or long lunches at one of the estate’s acclaimed restaurants – a feature few holiday rentals in Cape Town can offer.

The cottage itself is designed with both families and couples in mind. Two comfortable bedrooms (one queen, one twin) each have their own en-suite bathrooms, offering convenience and privacy. An open-plan lounge and dining area flows into a fully equipped kitchen, making it easy to settle in whether you’re staying for a weekend or several months. Families especially love the safe, interleading layout of the bedrooms, as well as the thoughtful touches such as toys, books, and a jungle gym in the garden.

Outdoor living is at the heart of Peacock Cottage. The private veranda overlooks the pool, gardens, and mountains, with a built-in braai and plenty of space for al fresco dining. It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, a leisurely lunch, or sunset drinks while watching the last light fall across the vineyards.
