Beautiful property

The house was just as advertised. Clean, modern, and nicely situated. The area is so quite and peaceful! We enjoyed fishing from the shore, and using all the games & outdoor activities. Great stay!

Great property!

The property has fantastic views and it was great to sit outdoors and enjoy the fantastic views. Kitchen had tons of appliances. Overall the property was clean. There isn't a lot of restaurants/stores in 15-20mins radius so better to bring your own food. One thing we didn't like that although the property charges a high host/cleaning fee it comes with a long list of cleaning and tidying up tasks before checking-out. These are sent via email. It is well known that nobody likes such practices and the host should revisit this area.

Perfect getaway

We enjoyed our stay so much! Beautiful location on the water was just what we were looking for to relax and visit, play games, eat good food, and explore the area. Bunk beds are small for a 20 yo kid, but other than that, the house worked well for us. Easy to find, and check in was efficient (online). Not a lot of places to walk except for beach when tide was out - we did and enjoyed.

Great for families

The house was very clean and a great setup for families. We played lawn games and enjoyed water sports during our stay. The firepit was great for hot dogs and smores and keeping warm in cozy chairs. The view was fantastic and you can tell the owners really care about people enjoying their time there. We would definitely come back again. Thanks for the fun memories!

Weekend getaway

The house was just like the photos!! We were a group of two families with 4 children and a new born baby. The kids loved that they were able to all stay in the one room with the double bunk beds and we were lucky enough that there wasn't a fireban so we got to enjoy the outdoor firepit. It was also great that there were kayaks and a paddle board (along with life jackets) for us to get on the water. Really enjoyed our stay and would definately come back.

Quiet cottage on calm waterway

Our family gathered together for a week to enjoy a peaceful retreat! We enjoyed the access of water with kayaks available and spent many hours lounging out front watching Seahawks fly by and seal roll through the water. We loved the option to play in the backyard. The back bedrooms stayed fairly cool in back with windows open. We loved the open space to gather for meals and card games inside and outdoors!

Relaxing and comfortable

We had a great time at the Pickering Passage house! We especially enjoyed the water access to allow for kayak, boating, searching for oysters and clams, and easy walks when the tide was out. We found the kitchen to have the pots, pans, and utensils that are needed to make meals. The chairs around the outdoor fireplace made for comfortable mornings and evenings. Thank you for making this house available!

Beautiful, peaceful spot

A gorgeous property with lots of activities on site- just what we were looking for. We all had a great time playing on the beach, we went out kayaking 3 times in our couple of days, played a 3 day game of Monopoly, grilled, played croquet and made a jaunt out the the fabulous StairWay walk. The only slight wrinkle was that the propane tank had not been filled on the grill, but the property manager helped us find where to fill it and paid for the cost of the propane as well as some bonus fire wood for the fire pit.

Serene, comfortable & perfect for families

This property is as awesome as it looks in pictures. The windows and perspective gives you the feeling of staying ON the water, and the home has all the "stuff" you want when you're there - plenty of towels, patio chairs, canoes, boats. The kitchen has every utensil and appliance you'd need (including two ovens, wowzahs!). Parents: this spot is secluded enough you feel comfortable letting your kids run around the property and not worry about other vehicles; in addition to the wonderful beach, there's a basketball hoop, tetherball, and wooded areas for them to explore. We loved it.

This is a great home with all of the amenities. It is located right on the Sound just a few miles from Shelton, Washington. We enjoyed the terrific view from the inside of the home through the large floor to ceiling windows facing the Sound as well as the comfort of the large patio area outside. The grandkids enjoyed volleyball in the large grass area. The stairs from the patio provided easy access to the shore where the kids gathered oysters for the evening barbecue. This was truly a dream getaway that will provide many lasting memories. We are looking forward to our next adventures when we go to stay there. Mary Ellen & Harry E.

It was amazing!!!

We were a 2 family group with 2 kids both around the age of 3. The house was better than we imagined. It was perfect for our families. The kitchen was equipped with enough stuff for us to cook every meal during our entire stay. Only recommendation would be to bring all your own spices to cook with as there aren't any here. (We left the few that we bought for the next person to enjoy) It was great house for kids since it's so open and there are great games/puzzles for them to play. The views are stunning and the property is very peaceful and quiet. We would love to make this an annual trip to start making lasting memories for our kids.

Week Away!

Pickering Passage exceeded our expectations and was the perfect spot for our week away. Our group was two families, each with two kids ages 11 and 8. The house was so spacious for our large and busy group, the queen beds were comfortable and the middle bunk room was excellent for the kids. This was a super hot week and we were grateful to have the water right outside, spent lots of time splashing around and kayaking. We also took a great hike in the Olympics, grabbed ice cream in Hoodsport and oysters and clams from Taylor Shellfish, and got delicious morning pastries from the Olympic Bakery twice! The view from the house was absolutely stunning and we enjoyed dinners outside plus s’mores. A truly magical spot. Thank you!

Overpriced

The house was lovely, and the view was gorgeous, but in our opinion, not worth the price during winter months. We were disappointed that the fireplace didn't work when we arrived on a dark and rainy night and there was no attempt to fix it during our stay.

Family fun on the beach!

This home is waterfront, with an outstanding patio/fire pit area, that overlooks the sound. We stayed for a week playing on the beach, kayaking, crabbing and best of all fishing at high tide off the bulk head (the kids loved it). We collected oysters from the private beach and cooked our freshly caught crab for dinner one night. We caught a couple small silver salmon too. The kids also enjoyed the volleyball and basketball when not on the beach. Some friends from Gig Harbor showed up on their boat and were able to tie up to the morning buoy for the day - which was great! The interior of the house was very nice and was tastefully decorated, matching the modern architectural design of the home. It is situated in a quiet area and was absolutely peaceful. This home would be great for anyone, including, families, couples, and outdoor enthusiast. We're looking forward to coming next year!

Operation relaxation!

Great spot for a relaxing getaway with a water view! Debra was an excellent host and communication was a breeze. Everything was exactly as pictured. House was spotless, beds were comfy (only used the two queens) and kitchen had all we needed. The indoor fireplace took us a few mins to figure out, but we got it running (wall switch + on/off switch under door at base of unit) and it was wonderful when the evenings got chilly. Our fave parts were beach-combing and reclining in the Adirondack chairs, enjoying the serene view of Pickering Passage during the day, and then stargazing after dark, while enjoying beers with friends around the fire pit (be sure to bring your own firewood). We made a grocery/firewood run to the Safeway in Shelton - only about 20 mins away and a lovely drive. We arrived after dark, so we missed the turnoff for the driveway, but it was easy to turn around and we found it a few mins later. The location instructions say to look for a stick marker with the house number on it, but heads up - the sign is very small and easy to miss in the dark. Just drive very slowly and you'll find it - we did!

Pluses and minuses but mostly great

Pluses of this property: It is clean, well-cared for, smells good, and The Location! Waking up to that view of the water was incredible. The queen beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well-stocked, and the barbecue works well. It's bright and beautiful, and I think it would be a beautiful place to stay as the leaves are turning in the Fall or during a Winter storm. We enjoyed the kayaks - it's a gentle area of the Sound to paddle. We saw Orcas from the patio! A mama and three babies swam and played their way past us twice! It's quiet, with an exception... Minuses: Big hidden fees. My 3 day stay cost more than 50% over the rental cost. The bunk beds are very noisy, and the bedrooms are small, so the bunk room is a very tight squeeze. There is a live outdoor music venue next door (they stopped playing about 9:30). There are no window coverings for the big east-facing windows, and there's no A/C, so the sun heats the house up early in the day. It was hot and stuffy in the bedrooms (it was only in the low 80's outside) but the fans helped and there are enough for each bedroom. I personally wouldn't stay here during a hot stretch - I grew up in Western Washington visiting various parts of Puget Sound and lived in Seattle, and this is the least windy spot I've ever been to. The lack of wind is mostly a plus, but not when it comes to cooling down the house. With all of that said, I would definitely stay here again - it's a breath of fresh air!
