Overall, a very nice place - close to the water, a quiet neighborhood and an especially good location. It's very close to the Shaw Festival theaters - so easy to walk and no need to pay for parking. We did find the window air conditions to be a bit noisy and the last step into the house from the outside is quite awkward - it's abnormally high.
The Cottage was spotlessly clean and adorable. Perfect for two. So many thoughtful touches throughout. Very close to everything Niagara On The Lake offers, yet very quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed the well tended back yard. We felt like we were in a Disney movie. lolThe squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, even a woodchuck came out to visit., too many birds to list. Just beautiful, will book here again and soon!
An absolutely charming cottage and just perfect for a girls long weekend away. Great location for visiting the waterfront, town, restaurants, shops and wineries. Avondale Dairy Bar is a must!!! Peter and Debra were great to work with and quick to respond. Highly recommend!
Great potential except for the construction project nextdoor
The property is located away from the hustle and bustle of Queen Street. We were looking forward to some peace and quiet. However the next door neighbor was doing construction on his property right outside the bedroom windows. The house lacks good AC and it was warm and humid when we were there. We could not enjoy the backyard and the lake breezes because of the noise next door. Had we known those things, we probably wouldâve chose to stay somewhere else. Too bad as it has the potential to be a great getaway spot.
I cannot say enough good things about this cottage. It is a five minute walk up to Queen St with all the history, shops and restaurants. The lake is a two minute walk. It is convenient to all the wineries.
We frequent Niagara on the Lake and this was the first time staying in a cottage. The owners were wonderful to deal with and prompt in answering questions. It was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. No worries for parking and was in walking distance to the main strip. We would definitely stay there again.
This place was perfect for my daughter and me. It was just the right size for two, and the location was hard to beat. We were just a couple blocks away from both the main drag and the water. Simple check in and check out, everything worked, and communication with the owners was easy. Thanks for a great stay!
Very cute and comfy. Excellent location. Property as described. We appreciated the prompt communication with the owners and the stocked kitchen necessities.
I chose Hawsepiper Cottage for a 2-night getaway with my mother, and it was perfect. The unit is compact and cozy, and very clean. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the linens and towels are high-quality and plentiful. We appreciated the easy access to the waterfront. Communication with the host was very good and there was lots of clear, easy-to-find information in the unit about how things worked. There is one change from the posted photos: there is no longer a table in the kitchen, it has been replaced with a built-in bar and stools, so you sit facing the wall. In addition, if you look at the property on Streetview there is just a grassy open space next to it. That is now a large, 2-storey home in the process of being finished. The properties are very close together and both bedrooms have windows facing this new build. We were a little taken aback to have workmen directly outside the bedroom windows at 7am. This did not create a problem, it was just surprising.Unfortunately, the weather was very wet so we werenât able to make use of the outdoor seating or enjoy the lovely and well-kept property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay none-the-less, and would return.
I met a friend here for a quick girls' weekend. The location is perfect... Close walking distance to the railway, lake, parks, and Queen Street shops and restaurants. It was an easy bike or drive to many wineries too! The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were responsive and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again for another visit!
Great location, walking distance to the center of town. Owners of the property are close by and took great care of us when we requested a couple of items for our stay. If we get back to NOTL, we will most certainly look to see if one of their properties is available for our stay.
Very cute and clean. This is definitely a cottage and it was a little chilly in January. (The bathroom floor is very cold.) The kitchen is tired, but well stocked and functional. Seems very minor, but the refrigerator door opens on the wrong side which just makes things awkward and could easily be switched. Hosts were great. Shovelled the driveway and brushed off our cars after a snowfall.
The cottage worked out very well for my husband and I. It was well supplied. Very close to the historical section. I would highly recommend staying at the Cottage.
We had a wonderful time at your cottage! It was so cozy and accommodating. We loved walking around the town and were especially grateful for the free parking for December. We loved being able to attend the Christmas parade. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
I (Peter) have lived in the Niagara area for all my life. Debra my beautiful wife and soulmate has lived in Niagara since the age of 16. She was born and raised in Nottingham England. We were married in 2018, two years after the passing of my wife Darla. Debra shares that same passion for excellence in the maintenance and decor of our cottage(s). We look forward to meeting you at the cottage! Peter & Debra
We have always wanted to own a property in 'Old Town' Niagara-on-the-Lake because we love the architecture of historic houses and the lovely gardens in town.
