À propos de cet hébergement
Magical Lake House Near Saugatuck & South Haven
You are steps from your own private access to Upper Scott Lake. Swimming, paddleboarding, and campfire s'mores await during the sunny summer afternoons. Autumn colors, cozy evenings by the fire, and family movie night fill cooler, rainy days. Grab a chair and relax under the well-shaded lot.
This lake house is ideal for families or groups to make many happy memories.
Make yourself at home!
Experience one of the magical features of this lake front home right after stepping in the front door - a secret, climbable pole heads up to the 2nd floor with a hideaway reading nook along the way. Emerge in a pair of 2nd floor bedrooms that are perfect for kids to play make believe in their own little world.
It's an old country house with quirks, slanted floors, the occasional odd noise and lots of character.
Back on the main floor, big picture windows overlook Upper Scott Lake from the spacious, brightly lit living room and entertainment room. There's plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy the view through the big picture windows, play board games, or relax with a movie.
The large entertaining room has windows on all sides and is brightly lit as well. Challenge each other to pool and air hockey, plunk out a tune or two on the piano, or start a cozy fire in the fireplace.
The home can comfortably accommodate families and groups of friends for a summer adventure with enough space to sleep 16 guests. Or, it could be a spacious romantic retreat for couples. There are five individual bedrooms upstairs. Downstairs, both couches in the entertaining room pull out. Sleep with the windows open and let the breeze and bird song flow through. This space has its own bathroom, mini fridge, and entrance so it can accommodate families that want separate spaces. Note that during the winter we have extra space heaters for this space in case the furnance can't keep up.
The home has a large, fully equipped kitchen with Keurig coffee machine, refrigerator / freezer, microwave, stovetop, oven, two warming drawers, and toaster oven. There are 2 full baths and one half bath, two on the main floor and one upstairs. The laundry room features a washer and dryer that you are more than welcome to use.
For those who don’t want to climb the secret pole to the 2nd floor, there are stairs leading up to the sleeping spaces. The master bedroom has an amazing view of the lake and is equipped with a king size bed with Casper mattress. Bedroom 2 has a queen size Casper, a fireplace, and its own view of the lake. Bedroom 3 has a twin over full bunk bed and leads to bedrooms 4 and 5 (which are also accessible by the secret pole). Bedroom 4 has two twin beds built into the knee wall and a full wall of storage . Bedroom 5 also has views of the lake and is equipped with two full size beds and a reading/seating area. You should note that bedrooms 4 and 5 can only be accessed through bedroom 3, and there is no door between 4 and 5. However, we've got curtains and sheets for privacy.
The master, 4 and 5 all have closets, bedroom 2 has an armoire, bedroom 3 has shelving and a hanging rod.
The spacious eat in kitchen has plenty of work spaces and storage, perfect for entertaining and making large meals. It also comes equipped with a coffee station. The home is on a well water system, and so the water carries a little bit of a metallic taste, which is typical.
The entire space is pet-friendly! We just ask that you clean up their messes outside, and if they're on the couch, you put down a blanket to make it easier on the cleaning service.
Outdoors, there is a patio with a small charcoal grill off the living room and sliding glass door leads to a deck off of the entertainment room. During the spring and summer months, you can see and hear plenty of song birds and the gentle waves of the lake.
We have a sandy beach with a cleared space for swimming and enjoying the water. The lake is shallow, 94.5 acres, and an all sports lake, but most people have pontoons and it is generally quiet except for the occasional motorboat or jet ski.
There are lights hanging above the patio and a fire pit to have an evening fire amid the lightning bugs, perfect for roasting hot dogs, s’mores and swapping stories.
We have an exterminator who comes every month to help us with mice, but as it's an old country house we thank you for your understanding if there's signs of an odd critter or two.
Guests can make use of any space on the property, with the exception of the basement and garages, which we are using for personal storage.
We live in the Chicago area, and the lake house is our summer home. The idea of such a special place in nature going unused is what inspired us to list it on AirBnb. We're easy going, love the outdoors and have quickly fallen in love with the area. We're easy to reach via text or message, but we are 3 hours away with 3 children and full-time jobs - we're happy to help as much as we can remotely, but we likely won't have the opportunity to meet in person. Our neighbors close by may be available in the case of something urgent or an emergency.
Check in
You can check in whenever you like on your day of arrival after 3 p.m. - there is a keypad lock on the front door.
Check out is typically noon, but we can be flexible if you need something else for your schedule.
There is ample cell phone coverage and WiFi at the house, but we do not have a landline phone.
There is no hunting on the property, and please respect our neighbors by not hunting on private land. There are opportunities to hunt on state and county land in Allegan county.
