Our third time returning to Janetâs property of course did not disappoint! We experienced a very wide range of weather from 8 degrees to 40 degrees! Our dogs loved exploring the island and swimming off the dock. We visited the farmers market on Wednesday morning, boated in for dinner at the Boathouse restaurant, caught tons of fish, and most importantly relaxed! The wildlife was impeccable, we saw bear, deer, loons, eagles, pelicans and more!! We will be back to this most perfect camp in Kenora :)
We had stayed here before, about 6 years ago. We remember the cabin being pretty basic but were disappointed with a few things this time around.
The dock had been damaged in the high waters the year prior, as many properties. After we booked, the owner told us it was scheduled to be replaced in fall. The dock as it exists currently was uneven and unsafe. It was tilted to the side and was unsteady to walk on.
The water system was described as sensitive, but we were unable to consistently flush the toilet, use water to wash dishes, or shower. A plumber was sent to fix the problem a couple days before we checked out.
Although we knew the cabin was basic, the cleanliness was subpar. There were dusty spiderwebs and dead bugs in the windows and screens and ceilings. Some TLC and a good cleaning would make the cabin feel more comfortable.
We did enjoy the comfortable beds and clean linens, the location of the property and being at the lake in general. The owner was easily accessible by text. Some extra effort into cleaning, having a proper water system, and a safe dock would make this property more user friendly.
