Horizon's Justine's Harvey Suite

Ready to enjoy a slice of paradise while looking out to sea and watching pelicans fly by? That is what the Justine Harvey Suite provides ~ Horizon’s New addition to The Yard.

The Justine Harvey Suite offers a private gazebo and beach area in Horizon’s boutique Jamaican Yard. It has hand-carved mahogany 19th-century furniture, beautiful artwork, and access to a kitchen in the main house. It also includes A/C and a Bose music system, plus CD/radio with Bluetooh capabilities.
The space
Justine's Harvey Suite is a Self-serving suite with a mini-refrigerator and coffee maker in the suite. Guests are welcome to store groceries and cook in the central house kitchen, just 40 steps away.

You can also hire Laga to prepare dinner for US$20 + grocery supplies OR choose from several eateries and jerk shacks, all within a 3-20 minute walk.

Justine's Harvey Suite is dedicated to the love story of Mary and Essua (previous, long-time Horizon owners) and in memory of Justine Taylor, one of the current owner's mum. It was initially started for her to visit because she was a bit of a poo-poo and needed more lux accommodations. In addition to the unique furnishings, this suite also comes with a marble bathroom, a beautiful indoor shower, and an outdoor rinse-off shower.

With it comes a private seafront gazebo and beach for you alone to enjoy. Sea Ranch and Rasta Ranch Cottages (on the other side of The Yard) have their own private porches and small shared beach.

Horizon has offered, over many years, the chance to spend day after day just sitting and soaking up the beauty of the Caribbean Sea, watching birds fly by, diving in for fish, and accessing a live coral reef filled with a variety of marine life - - the Justine's Harvey Suite offers the same relaxing, decompression calm, just with a bit more refinement.

Horizon is located on the South Coast, in Belmont, 1 hour from MoBay and Negril, yet off the beaten track in a traditional fishing village. There are now three units to choose from. Justine's Harvey Suite, Sea Ranch Cottage, and Rasta Ranch Cottage have been featured in Caribbean Travel & Life: Jamaica's Hidden Coast.

This private seaside compound is a favorite of artists, writers, honeymooners, and adventuresome first-time visitors who come back again and again.

All of Horizon's rentals come with Sophia, your housekeeper; she tidies up every 3 days. Laga, Horizon's gardener, night watchman, and your hired cook.

Tour guides are also available for hire wherever you want to explore: YS Falls, the Blue Hole Gardens, Black River, Whitehouse market, and Appleton Rum Tour Estate, to name a few.

JUSTINE'S HARVEY SUITE OVERVIEW:

This suite has a mini fridge & coffee pot w/ cups in the suite. It also has full access to main-house kitchen with full size refrigerator, gas stove and cooking essentials.

Meals: Are Additional and either purchased at local eateries (several within walking distance) or LAGA can be hired to cook meals for you for US$20/meal + ingredient supplies. If you want to cook for yourself, you can share Laga’s kitchen and store “brought-in” ingredients in his full-size refrigerator.

Budget about US$40-US$45/person/day for breakfast/lunch/dinner -- One can spend more or less, depending on shellfish, imported food buys, size of meals.

The ONLY obligatory staff gratuity is to your housekeeper: US$25 for a 3-night rental (US$8/day - please adjust based on number of rental nights). Please leave it under your pillow on departure day.

Additional tips to LAGA and SOPHIA at your discretion, depending on services provided -- provision sourcing, hiking up the mountain across the road, walking around town, etc.. Please make sure you give them something for their time away from The Yard.
Other things to note
Please give a US$25 gratuity to Sophia, your housekeeper, for a 3-night stay. This equals US$8/day - please adjust based on the number of rental nights. Please leave it under your pillow on departure day.

US$20 + meal supplies to Laga. He can shop for you or use your supplies to prepare your meal.
