We truly loved our stay in this spacious "loft". It was so nice to have a full kitchen and the ability to spread out.The bed is super comfy and the towels and robes were great as well! This place is all about the location. Multiple amazing places to eat are within walking distance including food trucks literally right down the alley. We also really enjoyed kips for some tacos. The hippy dip is just across the street and overlook hot springs are next door. We did have the AC on pretty much full blast but we were here during 87 degree temps. We found putting the large fan near the kitchen pushing air towards the living area helped immensely! This is a basement apartment. And we just found it perfect for a cozy jumping off point for adventures.
Loved the location and the unit. It was a little strange being underground at first but we got quickly used to it and loved our time there. Will for sure come again!
Cute place. Ventilation was poor. I would not stay here during really warm season. Only one bed so good for a couple with maybe a few small kids that could sleep on the ottomans. Nice access to downtown and the springs. Really is down under as itâs in a basement type setting. 10 am checkout was a little early.
Pro of the stay was the location to the hot springs resort. Con: extra small shower, one small window a/c that didn't cool the room, only the kitchen, hair in bed sheets and towels, roaches behind headboard and much more.
This place is right downtown. However, there is construction on the highway right in front of the theatre, so we had to walk around the block to check in and pretty much get anywhere.Good for groups.
This place was so unique!! Yes there was a bit of traffic noise at night, but it was very convenient to have the restaurants and hot springs right across the street! Will definitely rent here again.
Pagosa Springs was wonderful and we liked it much.
Property had pros and cons.
Pros-
Location Location Location.
Best stocked kitchen where we have stayed so far.
Comfortable bed.
Cons-
Listing says one bedroom, but really it is a large studio. No interior dividing walls around bed at all.
Only one stairwell window which did not allow for much airflow at all and this window was dirty and dusty.
For seating we had 2 faux leather futons and 4 bar stools near counter and 4 old dining table chairs. No cushy sitting chairs.
One small wall air conditioner which we had to run whole time we were there but still felt rather stuffy.
4 out of 5 stars.
The Loft Down Under was clean and in the perfect location! We had everything that we needed and more for a great getaway. It is right in the center of downtown and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. Would definitely stay again!
The loft is located downtown across the street from the world-famous Hot Springs and our family as well as visitors enjoy the hot healing waters after a day at the slopes. Speaking of the slopes it is only a short 20-minute ride to Wolf Creek Ski Area. It's a saying around town that this area is the 'Best Kept Secret' in Colorado. Wolf Creek has the most powder in Colorado! It's a snowboarder's paradise! Please leave your comments in our journal in our loft and please enjoy!
Pagosa Lumber Company founder A.T. Sullenberger purchased the two-story brick building at this location in 1918 which was previously occupied by Archuleta Merchantile and built by J.M. Archuleta Jr. in the early 1900s. After a fire destroyed the structure in 1919, Sullenberger constructed the Metropolitan Hotel which featured modern rooms, hot baths for guests, and a motion picture theatre.
Now, almost one hundred years later, the Loft Down Under welcomes guests to its history. Both apartment rentals are just a short walk across the street to the World Famous Hot Springs Pool and Hot Tubs. Everyone will love the short drive to Wolf Creek for a day on the slopes or just stroll around the shops and restaurants close by! Don't forget the Overlook Hot Springs Spa next door or enjoy a movie at the Liberty Theatre! Anyway you look at it, you will enjoy our lofts and Pagosa Springs!
