The property was comfortable for 8 people. It is in a quiet area which we liked.
It is well maintained and clean and has all the amenities you would expect and need. The owner is very responsive and easy to work with.
All in all a great place to stay to see the sites in and around fairbanks. We went to Chena resort from here and spent an evening soaking in the hot springs and were lucky enough to see the Aurora at Murphy dome.
This was a good home base to get it all done.
Private, clean, and warming. This house was everything you wanted in an Alaskan home! The hot tub, wood burning fireplace and the amount of space was everything we hoped for. This 3 story home meet all of our expectations. Itâs a must stay if youâre headed to Fairbanks or even a close location for the Chena Hot-springs! You wonât be disappointed!
Overall Good, However a trash bag was left out back in the yard. 3 Trash barrels on property were left with trash still in them, about 1/2 full ea. There was a grill utensils left dirty at the grill. The hot tub was low on water, and water was fairly dirty. There were no coffee cups in the place. I had to go to Walmart and buy 4 and I donated them to the property when we left. ;) (white with blue ring on top) hope the person can get some use. There was a really cool modern record player and records on display, however the player was barely functioning. (Maybe it was display only)Listing wasnât real clear that there was no A/C. Maybe thatâs my fault for assuming but it was 85 degrees all week and first ever Fairbanks heat advisory.Owner and I had a little miscommunication checking in and out but probably a little fault of both sides.Yard needed mowed. (Thatâs not uncommon)All in all it was a good place. Just being critical and also this will help the owner make sure she has the best follow up cleaning crew.
Although we had high hopes for this place we had a terrible experience when checking in that had us leave the property almost immediately and find different accommodations. We had an issue with a credit card charge, but had it cleared up days before check in. I had to check with the host a couple of days before check in because I hadn't received check-in details yet. Finally, the night before we were to arrive I got the details. I was fine with that. I also informed the host we would not be making it to the house until midnight and that was fine with them. When we got to the home we noticed a car in the driveway and lights on. Not thinking much about it (we've seen different things like this before) we opened the door to find some other people's personal items on the table and noise coming from downstairs. Long story short there was a couple in one of the rooms that eventually told us they were 'cleaners' finishing up (at 12am). After waiting for a minute and letting it sink in I realized that they were sleeping in the room of the 'whole house' we booked privately. We almost stuck around to let them leave and us continue trying to figure out sleeping arrangements but when we found beds unmade and damp sheets we decided to find other accommodations in the middle of the night (not easy to do in Alaska in July) and were completely disenchanted with the experience. I triple checked with the next VRBO before we checked-in to make sure this did not happen again. Good luck.
It was a life-long bucket list for our whole family to see the aurora borealis, so we booked this great little cabin and crossed our fingers for good luck. It was perfect for aurora viewing - above the inversion, away from city lights, and no need to drive anywhere. You could simply run inside if you got cold and come back out when the action picked up. We got extremely lucky with a major solar storm, clear skies, and being outside at the right time all converging for family memories that will never subside. Nobody can promise those conditions, but whatever the circumstances might be, it would be hard to find a more convenient place to chase the auroras. I recommend this cabin wholeheartedly.
