One of our favorite vacation homes ever. Just breathtaking to spend a week looking out at the dolphins frolicking in the ocean. The house was well appointed with everything one might need. Andrea, the property manager, was friendly and very responsive. We would come back.
Relaxing holiday in a gorgeous location and beautiful home.
This was the perfect place to conclude our 3 1/2 week trip to Zambia, Botswana and South Africa, all the way from North Carolina, USA. We saw whales from the house and enjoyed beach walks. Carrie provided an excellent list of restaurants, and we had our final dinner on the continent at the outstanding Emily Moon.
The house is just amazing. I had to keep pinching myself that we were lucky enough to be staying in such an amazing property. The glass, the light, the space, the view. Seeing dolphins from the garden was such a treat. Hearing the ocean at night .Being surrounded by nature. I didn't want to leave the house! The beach is so beautiful and ideally situated for access to resteraunts and shops nearby. An amazing holiday.
We had a really great time in Home by the Sea, Keurboomstrand and Plettenberg. Nice view of the ocean and the "private" beach. So amazing waking up and see the dolphins playing in the waves. Andrea (house manager) was a pleasure to communicate with and she made us feel at home. The only regret was that we should have booked the house longer to really make the most of the house, beach and all activities the Plettenberg Bay area has to offer.
All amazing - great location of itself and also for getting around to golf courses and activities - kayaking at eastern cape and seal swimming in Plett are a must. Shop in Plett for food and drinks before you get to the property and (Iâve asked the property manager already) please produce a one pager for the alarm!! We set it off about 6 times⊠ended up making the security guy (Gee) lunch! Other than that - truly amazing property and place. Eating out is all good - The Fat Fish and Nineteen89 in Plett were very good and Enricoâs is idyllic. You MUST also have. Drink/lunch/dinner/anything at the Lookout in Plett.
Overall we were very happy with our decision to stay at this property. We had a lovely and enjoyable stay. We wanted to extend our stay but didnt have the time. Our only suggestion is to have better info on how to operate the stereo equipment, particularly the speakers and it would have been nice to have music outdoors and upstairs. The bluetooth speaker was nice outside when paired with the tv but lost signal upstairs. All in all very minor items when searching for whales and dolphin from bed every morning. Loved the property.
Hi, my name is Paul Turner, I am British and married to Carrie. Originally from the UK, we now live and work in Cape Town. We have three grown up children. I fell in love with South Africa in 1999 when I visited and entered the Argus Bike Ride. We bought the land on Keurboomstrand, near Plettenberg Bay, in 2006 and developed plans to build our dream house over the next two years. We started building in January 2008 and and the house was ready for us to move in just before Xmas the same year. The location is breathtaking and we have tried to build a home that reflects the magnificent natural beauty of its location whilst offering all the facilities and modern conveniences that we and our guests enjoy. We are proud of the finished house which has become our 'Home By The Sea', a name inspired by one of my favourites bands, Genesis. We are never happier than when we are staying at the house. The views are simply stunning, the whales visit in season and dolphins all year round. Over the years, many guests have also loved staying at Home by the Sea. We used a local builder, architect and wherever possible local materials, fixtures and fittings. Our wonderful housekeeper, Clarice, is always on hand to help make our guests' stay as comfortable as possible, and our house manager Andrea will greet you and assist you with any queries and requests during your stay. We warmly welcome you.
Home By The Sea is the perfect place to relax and leave the world behind and to explore the beautiful garden route. The house has the modern luxuries required to make your valuable holiday enjoyable. The views are simply breathtaking and there is a sense of privacy and feeling close to nature. The beach is reached via a private walkway and you can walk for hours or just sit on the dunes and watch the dolphins all year long and the whales in season. The rim flow pool is solar heated and lovely and warm in the summer and you can enjoy sundowners on the roof with a panoramic view of the entire Plettenberg Bay.
Exceptional location, fantastic housekeeper, Clarice. Modern, stylish interior, bikes available plus pool and beach toys and games. Many great video classics to watch, DSTV so you never have to miss your favourite team, selection of books to read. Ocean facing sports bar. Outside fire with ocean views. Sheltered tranquil courtyard. Solar back up energy
