Private 5-BR Mountain Estate 10-Min to Manchester
Summary:
Nestled on 12 acres with stunning mountain views, this serene escape, named Green Haven, offers a deeply rooted connection to its setting. Once a thriving apple orchard, the property now serves as a private, luxurious sanctuary near the charming towns of Dorset and Manchester. This 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom residence is thoughtfully curated for a seamless experience in every season, blending rustic tranquility with sophisticated design for families and friends seeking presence and connection.
The Space:
The home’s interiors are shaped by natural light and honest textures, creating an elegant yet cozy atmosphere. A fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, and a variety of entertaining spaces, including a pool table and ping pong table, ensure comfort and ease. Outdoors, a firepit provides a perfect gathering spot to embrace the quiet landscape, while a quiet road leads up to Owls Head Mountain, inviting exploration. Green Haven is an ideal retreat for those who seek to immerse themselves in Vermont’s natural beauty and local charm.
Preparing your holiday feast? You will find more kitchenware in the white pantry on the first floor, and additional plates/dishes in the white cabinetry below the TV.
This home shares a quiet 12-acre estate with a nearby guest cottage. Want the whole property for your group? Reach out to learn about booking the full Green Haven Retreat.
Guest Access:
Accessible with smart lock; no contact with host required.
You'll be able to access all living/sleeping areas aside from the north end of the house (everything shown in the pictures).
The Neighborhood:
Located in Dorset and just down the road from the shops and restaurants of Manchester, and 11 miles to Bromley and 22 miles to Stratton Mountain ski areas. Dorset is a four-season destination offering high-end dining, boutiques, year-round outdoor activities, swimming holes and hikes galore, and a vibrant arts and culture scene. Here’s just a brief selection of what’s available to you:
- 0.5 miles from H.N. Williams General Store, offering grocery staples, wine, coffee bar, wines, sandwich counter (don’t miss their breakfast sandwiches!), and gourmet food to-go. Great place to grab food for a picnic. It also hosts the Dorset Farmer’s Market on Sundays, one of the top-rated farmers markets in the area.
- 0.7 miles from the Dorset Quarry, a famous local swimming hole that was the source for the marble for the New York Public Library, the Met, and several Harvard buildings.
- Just down the road (~1 mile) from downtown Dorset, including the Barrows House, Dorset Union Store (homemade pies, sandwiches, to-go foods, wines, coffee, and local specialties), Dorset Inn, and the Dorset Playhouse.
- Just down the road (~8 minute drive) from downtown Manchester, including the Northshire Bookstore (don’t miss the third floor dedicated to children’s books and toys), and numerous restaurants, ice cream places, breakfast spots, groceries, and shops and boutiques. Historic Manchester also has a number of high-end restaurants.
- 15 min to Emerald Lake State Park, with hiking and swimming for the whole family. Kayaks are usually available to rent.
- 5 min from Peace Street, a local swimming hole and wading spot that is the perfect place to cool off on a hot day.
- 5 min from North Meadow Farm, a local source for cheese, raw milk, ice cream, and petting zoo for kids.
- Convenient to 3 ski resorts: Bromley (18 min), Stratton (30 min), Okemo (45 min).
Getting Around:
Vehicle is recommended. You will need AWD to get up driveway in the winter - plowing will occur when there is more than 3” in snow.
Other Things to Note:
Notes & Disclaimers:
We are on a septic system, which means nothing other than septic-safe TP can be flushed (no sanitary products, flushable wipes, etc.).
The property is equipped with a doorbell camera at the front entrance and an additional camera inside the detached garage, which is used to confirm trash pick-ups on Wednesdays.
Wildlife: This is a home in a rural part of the country. You may see wildlife including deer, coyotes, foxes, and bears. Please be mindful of your surroundings and leaving out food and trash.
Weather: In the winter, there will be snow, ice, and occasional snowstorms. We recommend driving a vehicle with AWD or 4WD. Please drive with caution and be prepared with regards to the ability of your vehicle to drive in the snow. Tip: During winter and rainy weather, we ask that everyone enter through the side door on the lower level, as we do not have a space for coats/shoes on the upper level.
Power & Internet: This is a rural part of the country. You may lose power or internet during inclement weather. We do not issue refunds for loss of power or internet out of our control.
Air conditioning & Heating: The main floor is equipped with central air conditioning, available seasonally during late spring and summer. Heating is provided during the colder months (fall and winter), as needed based on seasonal conditions. Please do not leave doors or windows open when running the AC; this causes water to accumulate in the HVAC system and will very quickly cause ceiling leaks.
Pets: We’re happy to welcome your pup to the home, this home only allows dogs under 30 lbs. There’s a $150 fee + tax for the first dog and $50 + tax for each additional one. If you’re planning to bring more than one, please reach out to us before completing your booking so we can get everything set up for you. For everyone’s comfort, we kindly ask that dogs stay leashed outdoors and that you clean up after them. Please note that cats aren’t permitted due to allergy concerns. Any pet-related damages may result in additional charges.
Maximum occupancy: Please mind that this house can host a maximum of 10 guests per fire code. As per the fire department, infants are included in that number. Therefore, any infants included in the booking above maximum occupancy of 10 would unfortunately result in the reservation being cancelled.
Absolutely no smoking, vaping, or use of marijuana products. Use of these products will result in an additional $1500 cleaning fee.
Cancellation Policy: We cannot make any exceptions to our cancellation policy. Please consider traveler’s insurance.
Interaction with Guests:
No interaction with host required; available on chat service.
