This property is conveniently located to restaurants in a very nice walkable neighborhood. The views, cleanliness and location keeps us coming back every year.
It was the best cottage we have had since renting over the past 20 years on the lakes up here very convenient to dinners and the corner landing were we have rented a pontoon with Kirk for 20 years itâs a great place for family and friends to visit
Nice place to stay, already booked for next year. Location is great, walking distance to restaurants. The beach front is great and the lake is just beautiful. I loved the openness of the cottage.
The water view is the best. Loved drinking coffee and staring at the Lake. Great beach front. Plenty of room. Downside. Updates could bring this cottage to a different level. Old furniture, worn out faucets, and old light fitures are just not cool .
This is our second stay and just booked for next year!! The property is perfect as there are not a lot of stairs and the beach area right at the property front is awesome! Mike is a class act host and we couldnât ask for a better find for a vacation close to home!
We had a great time staying at Mike's cottage. The location of the home is great, and the views of the lake are amazing! The home was very clean, and Mike was very responsive if we needed anything. Hope to stay here again soon!
Great Location to restaurants and convenient stores. Very safe. Plenty of parking and easy communication with owner. Plenty of yard area for the kids to play and nice sandy beach.
The property has a great beach and we ended up using the beach more than going out on our boat. It was a great place to bring our 14 month old Granddaughter. He had a great time.
This experiance rates very high for My wife and I,My sons family also stayed and we couldn t of asked for more .Mike is a excellant host . We appreciated every aspect of our week.
We really enjoyed coming to this lake cottage for the week - it reminded my parents and I of the lake cottage we had growing up. The beach was 10/10, sandy and easy to wade into the water and play. The location was great as well, easy walk to restaurants and get donuts in the morning. The owner was quick to get a hold of with any questions leading up to the week and was available during our time there if we needed anything. We could come back again!
We love our yearly week stay and as always booked for the next year already. Mike is always extremely responsive to any questions or issues that pop up. We love renting this house as it suits our needs for limited stairs, close to aging parents ( Fort Wayne), beautiful beach, clean lake, friendly neighbors, great rental owners, close to amenities and such a relaxed vibe!!
The location is perfect, with a nice flat yard extending to the lake. If you like soft beds, you will love this cottage. The only problem we encountered was that the book listing all the details (garbage pickup day, instructions to operate TV, etc.) of the cottage was missing.
I'm a semi-retired oral & maxillofacial surgeon. I grew up in Detroit, went to school at the University of Michigan, the Michael Reese Medical Center, and the University of Pennsylvania (residency). During the summer I live in the cottage next door to this rental property. During the winter, I am a snowbird and live in Naples, Florida.
Growing up in the city of Detroit I always wanted to live on a freshwater lake. Lakes were plentiful in the suburbs and throughout Michigan. Lake James was my favorite lake while living in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We used to rent dock space until finally a perfect opportunity came up to buy my home lot; firm sandy beach, walking distance to restaurants, private street with backlot, lot is flat. The next door (rental property) became available a year later, in 2004.
Lake James is rated as one of the cleanest lakes in Indiana. The lake has three basins and connects to two other ski lakes, Jimmerson and Snow Lake as well as Big and Little Otter lakes. Our beach is fairly firm, not mucky. The flat lots are convenient, especially as people age. We are within walking distance to Paradise Cafe, Brewskies, Tom's Donut's, Acapulco Grill, Waterfront Bistro, and Yoyo's. Pokagon State Park and the Potawatomi Inn are also on Lake James. Great surrounding golf courses and Angola, Indiana is listed as one of the best small towns, hosting Trine University, The Thunder Ice Arena (indoor ice skating) and The Furth Center for the Performing Arts. Rural King, my favorite store, gives free coffee and pop corn. The fishing is great on Lake James. Plus we are near Interstate 69 and the Indiana Toll Road (I-80 and I-90) near the Michigan and Ohio borders.
