À propos de cet hébergement
Perfect for Couples, Pet Friendly, Wildlife Theme, Log Cabin, Fireplace
Enjoy a getaway stay in a quaint little log cabin with all the amenities. A full kitchen with an oven, microwave, 10 cup coffee pot, & apartment size refrigerator. Included in the kitchen are all the plates, cups, bowls, coffee cups, & utensils, as well as pots & pans for cooking. There is complimentary coffee included, should you need more just ask. Included is a small table & chairs.
Northeast Wisconsin is not very commercialized so it is the home of some great Supper Clubs, Bars & Grills, Breakfast Restaurants, small winery's, & coffee shops. The area is made up of many families & cottages who have resided here for multiple generations, many of them more than 100 years! When you arrive to the Ranch, we will give you a short list of great places, but get out and make your own adventure & be sure to let us know how it went!
The cabin has dish network television with a fold down futon couch in the living area that makes down into a double for an additional bed. The bathroom is a full bathroom with a shower, including complementary soaps, a bathroom sink, & toilet. The towels are included, should you need more, please ask! The bedroom has a queen size bed. All bedding is included.
The patio to the Ash has wooden chairs & a picnic table, as well as a fire pit. Wood is available on the Ranch for purchase.
The Ash is off to itself & little bit more private. There is ample parking for horse trailers, trailers for ATV's & UTV's, boats, and multiple vehicles. If you choose to bring your horse to the Ranch it has horse pens right out your front door for your horse to stay in. The visiting horse barn is a short walk to the top of the Ranch should you prefer a stall. All horses do need negative coggins. We do not allow stallions on the Ranch. Horse trail passes are not required in the National Forest in Oconto County.
If you are bringing your ATV or UTV we do have direct trial access. Once you have arrived on the Ranch, park your truck and ride the duration of your stay in your ATV or UTV. If you are from a state other than Wisconsin, you do need an an out of state trail pass to be legal on the trails. It can be purchased through the DNR website for $35.00.
The Ash Cabin is dog friendly. You will need to provide a current proof of rabies for your dog. Please remember, we are in the national forest and there are wild animals as well as other Ranch guests, our own horses, dogs, & guinea hens. Your dog needs to be under your control at all times.
If you are coming from a distance or out state, we are only 70 miles from Green Bay so take a day and the opportunity to check out the iconic Lambeau Field, National Railroad Museum, Bay Beach, or the Lake Front!
In the past, we have had many Ranch Guests from other foreign countries. Some have done the loop around the UP and back down through Michigan which was very popular pre-covid.
If you are interesting trying a recreational activity and do not have the equipment, there are places in the Northwoods who rent equipment. Just let us know and we are more than happy to help you find one of these companies. Rentals are available for UTV's, snowmobiles, down hill skis, cross country skis, snow shoes, paddle boards, kayaks, pontoons, fishing boats, & fat tire bikes!

Welcome to Spur of the Moment Ranch, located in Mountain, WI. We are located 65 miles Northwest of Green Bay, a short 75 minute drive! We are a small Resort starting our 25th year in business. Ann & Skip Maletzke, your hosts, purchased the Ranch in the fall of 2000 as way to enjoy their horses as they slowly transitioned into the next phase of their live, empty nesting. Twenty-four years later, we are still enjoying the property, our Ranch guests, and the peace and quiet the Southern-end of the Chequamegon - Nicolet National Forest has to offer. Ann often refers to it as, "her little peace of heaven." In 2014, our daughter Sarah joined them to help out on the Ranch. She is now General Manager of the Ranch as we have started to retire and enjoy a little bit of traveling ourselves. The National Forest is a huge recreational area open to many different user groups in all four seasons. Many people bring their own "toys" or animals and enjoy the days playing in the 666,000 acres we are fortunate enough to be able to call our "back yard." Ranch quests often bring their ATV's, UTV's, Horses, kayaks, boats, & bikes in the spring, summer, or fall. In the winter, many guests bring snowmobiles, cross country skis, down-hill skis, ice skates, sleds, & ice fishing gear. It is a great way to enjoy the beauty in all four seasons! We are dog friendly so don't leave them behind. They just need a current proof of rabies.
The Ranch is also a great place if you just want to get away and relax. One of the most beautiful attributes of the Ranch happen to be the night sky! The complete darkness & absence of city lights allows you to see the moon, the starts, the brilliance of the Milky Way & even an occasional sneak peak at the Northern Lights! Be sure to make time for an evening campfire! We have enjoyed many stories, eaten a few fancy smore's, enjoyed a few well played guitarists, & shared a lot of laughs!

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
Spur of the Moment Ranch is very unique, especially as you start your day! We have 5 miniature donkeys who will kindly take the place of your morning alarm! As soon as they hear or see any sign of movement on the Ranch, the choir will start with braying donkeys! We also have 15-25 guinea hens at any given time. For us, they are working birds cleaning up ticks, bug larva, small snakes, or rodents from the Ranch! Most importantly, their antics and games they play amongst themselves keep our Ranch guests watching & laughing!
We do have a Camp Store with a variety of goodies! We have the essentials you may have left behind in your excitement to get on the road. We also have t-shirts, sweatshirts, coffee mugs, stuffed animals with our logos for keep sakes! Don't leave the kids behind, we have great t-shirts, bug hunting vests, & games for purchase! On Saturday evening we have a happy hour! Enjoy meeting other Ranch Guests while enjoying a drink on the deck or at the bar! Again, bring the kids, there are always smoothies!
If you are bringing an ATV, UTV, or horse we do have direct trail access to the Nicolet State Trail. Once you are on it, you can make it to Forest, Florence, Langlade, Marinette counties & the UP of Michigan! Your adventure is endless!
The Ranch also offers a few horse activities. We offer riding lessons & driving lessons. All lessons include learning to groom, saddle, & ride! We offer Saturday Morning Kid's Donkey camp where the kids learn a little bit about the donkeys through games & dress up! All activities are by appointment! We also offer Scouting Merit Badge, birthday parties, or youth & community education programming with the horses! Sorry, we do not offer traditional trail riding.
The Ranch is very family friendly. We host a lot of reunions throughout the summer & fall months. Many of our family groups have multiple generations & need a variety of accommodations! We have got it!
