Cabin in the woods close to hiking, fishing, 30 miles from state college for Psu football and graduation. Screened in porch. Beautiful views when you travel the state gamelands. Perfect getaway if you like being in the mountains
We were very comfortable and happy with our stay. Everything we needed was there. We were gathering with Family at Poe Paddy State Park And found the place to be very convenientWe were three adult family members so the accommodations worked very well for us. To reach the second, more spacious bedroom, the staircase is a bit steep, and there is not a door which closes it off from the rest of the house. This was not a problem for us, but might be for some guests. We would definitely come back.
This was a great property. We were in town for a wedding and were pleasantly surprised by how great this location was for hiking, fishing, or tubing in Poe Valley/Poe Paddy State Parks. The house is great. It's very clean and cozy. We spent tons of time on the screened in front porch. I was happy with all of the kitchen amenities and also took advantage of towels being available so I didn't have to lug those with us. I wasn't prepared for no Internet on our way though and didn't take note of the door code prior to arriving.....I had to back track till I got a signal so I could get it. Download any directions or info you need before you get too far off the beaten path.
Gorgeous and peaceful setting. Lots of outdoor seating and porches with trickling water in the background makes for drinking coffee in the morning outside just perfect. Cabin host provides literally everything and made check in super easy. Host is also very timely with responding to messages. Will definitely be returning!
Enjoyed our night. Was a quick stay unfortunately. Just make sure to screen shoot all messages prior to getting there, like address and pins. No cell service once in area. Everything you need is there though.
We had a very nice time staying here. The place was nice and clean and our favorite part was having coffee on the screened-in porch each morning. We would stay here again.
A Secluded, Dog-Friendly Paradise for Outdoor Enthusiasts! As avid hikers and geocachers, our priority was finding a remote getaway close to fantastic trails that welcomed our dogs. This rental met all our expectations, offering the perfect blend of solitude and adventure. We spent a long weekend exploring the area, with our two well-mannered and lovable rescue pitbull mixes happily joining us on every adventure. Even when the heat and humidity soared, we simply adjusted our schedule, hitting the trails extra early to beat the sun. The serene surroundings provided the peace and quiet we craved, and we even got to experience some thrilling off-road muddying in our Subaru! Our host was incredibly responsive, which we greatly appreciated. The rental itself is exceptionally well-equipped. The kitchen is fully stocked, complete with a K-Cup coffee machine and a gas burning stove, making meal prep a breeze. One of our favorite features was the screened-in porches and A/C.Even a severe storm and a temporary power outage couldn't dampen our spirits. We highly recommend this property, especially for those who love to be "off-grid" and embrace outdoor activities like hiking, geocaching, biking, four-wheeling, Vistas, and have their dogs right there by your side!
The property itself was quite nice, offering a tranquil location that made for a peaceful getaway. The setting provided a great escape from the hustle and bustle, allowing for relaxation in a serene atmosphere. However, there were a few notable drawbacks. The interior had a lingering smoky smell, which was less than ideal and detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, while the space was generally comfortable, it wasnât as clean as it could have been. Some areas felt like they needed more thorough attention. One concerning detail was the presence of ant and mice traps by the sink. Not exactly what I wanted to find as I was washing dishes and made me wonder how many issues theyâve had. Overall, while the location and structure of the property were appealing, the cleanliness and maintenance could use some improvement to enhance the guest experience.
I celebrated 40 years since my Penn State graduation with my senior college roommate at this cabin just a couple miles from Poe Valley State Park. It was a nice peaceful setting near a small stream. The cabin had everything we wanted. Liked the screened-in porch and the recliners (we're getting old). You do need to drive a few miles of dirt roads to get to this area, but the cabin is along a paved road near a small village of cabins just outside the state parks of Poe Valley and Poe Paddy. Plenty of hiking opportunities in a short drive.
Very nice place for family weekend - clean, well equipped and comfortable. Itâs deep in a mountain community and windy gravel roads to get there.
Beds were not as described: second bedroom/loft only had one queen and one single NOT 2 queens and a single! Good thing we brought extra sleeping pads, etc.
We went to the Penn State spring game and spent time fishing, exploring the parks and the area. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin everything was clean and cozy. We plan on using the cabin in the future! Thank you for hosting us.
Great place only complaint is vrbo directions take you to nowhere be sure to put adress of cabin in your gps before heading out since cell signal isnt that good on the roads to cabin
Found this location while looking for a last minute place to call home for the weekend. Itâs about a 40 minute scenic drive through the mountains from state college. The property and house were clean and inviting. Everything was as described. We will look to stay on future visits.
We stayed at this cabin over PSU whiteout weekend and were impressed with the condition and size. This is a rare instance where the actual place is better than the photos! There is a fully stocked kitchen and a comfortable family room. The location is very quiet and there is plenty of screened in porch area to relax outside. The host was very responsive and timely with the door code and some questions I had.
A few points that were not a concern for us but could be for others:
- It is very far off the beaten path. It is 5 miles back an unpaved mountain road (coming from either the west or north). It is about 35 minutes from State College.
- The upstairs bedroom is open (loft) so doesnât offer full privacy.
- There is a TV but only Prime Video and YouTube (and DVDs). Shouldnât be a problem for most people, especially since there is solid WiFi.
Overall, it was a very good value, especially on a game weekend!
Overall, a nice place to stay. Coffee on the screened porch was awesome and relaxing. You have to drive quite a ways thru the state park to get to the house, on gravel roads. We didnât have any issues other than there is no service, so screen shot your directions or be sure your gps is set well in advance for going and leaving the property.
