Great location with space for a large family. Nice pool and access to the beach with Kayaks and Paddleboards.
Only issue is very poor WiFi service - needed to be in certain areas of the house to get a signal - Should expand coverage
We rented this dreamy property with our family for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. It was perfect. The property is beautifully maintained both inside and out. It has a gorgeous deck that looks over the pool where our kids played for hours. It also has access to a private beach which was really nice to have on days when we didnât feel like packing up to go to the beach. Check-In and check-out was seamless. Julia was there if we needed her, but also let us have a nice uninterrupted week. We will definitely be back!
This is our second tome renting this beautiful home on Polpis. We absolutely love this home and it has everything we could need and more. We loved paddle boarding and kayaking on their equipment in the bay and the pool was perfect for refreshing swims in the morning and post beach. We road our bikes easily to Surfside beach and town on bike paths the whole way. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen was perfectly equipped to make fabulous dinners and eat al fresco on the amazing deck. We will be bACK and renting again soon! Thank you Julia. Everything was perfect t and you were so responsive and professional.
This house is quintessential Nantucket and perfectly laid out for a big group. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, sunsets on the deck, paddle boards on the beach, and bocci on the front lawn. Teens rode bikes into town and to beaches. Communication was very good w owner. The house is bright and clean w plenty of beach towels, chairs etc. Will gladly stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. Julia gave us lots of information prior to arrival and was very responsive with any questions we had while we were there. The heated pool was great especially on the cool, foggy days, and it's a nice walk to the beach (it's about 15 minutes but would be tough to get the cooler to w/o a wagon) and kayaking. The landscaping is absolutely beautiful and it was great to have such lovely and large outdoor space. The house had everything we needed, plenty of towels, beach towels, beach bag, cooler, and beach chairs. All very useful. The location on Polpis was nice as well, we avoided the crowds of downtown and were close to our favorite beaches, Quidnet and Great Point. Thank you!
Beautiful property - pictures donât do it justice.
Had an amazing week at this gorgeous place. Super clean and well equipped. We really enjoyed the salt water pool. Views from the top deck are amazing and the views all around are beautiful. The private beach was a short walk and beautiful. The property managers are very attentive and checked in regularly to make sure we were happy. Would definitely rent again
Our family recently stayed in this beautiful home for two weeks on our annual vacation to Nantucket, and we couldnât be happier with our pick. The house is nicely updated, has plenty of room for multiple families, and offers all the amentities the island can offer. Youâre 5-10 min from a very private and calm beach, my kids LOVED playing and picking up shells all day. The house is off the Polpis bike path, so in either direction thereâs a nice ride. We spent many days laying and playing in the pool which was perfect on the hottest days of our trip. And youâre only a short 10 min drive into town for shopping and great dinner spots. One night we stayed in and had a gorgeous dinner set up on the patio table, and that was probably my favorite night! The property offered a great quiet backdrop to our night.
Overall we loved this house and canât recommend it enough to other families and friends looking for a great vacation spot. Thank you Julia and family for your incredible hospitality!
Pros -
Nice location away from town.
Clean and organized.
Completely fenced in yard great for dogs!
Cons-
Very hard to pull out of driveway, landscape overgrown. Felt like taking a risk every time I pulled out!
Light bulbs very dull or not working at all.
Kitchen very small, if traveling with several people would be very hard to navigate around island.
Deck needs a lot of work. Boards coming up and wood very rough.
Need to wear shoes or you will get splinters!
Washer and dryer do not work well. Took several hours to dry towels.
Backyard mulch is constantly blowing into pool. Very dirty so we spent a lot time cleaning.
Not enough chairs next to pool.
We stayed at this property the first two weeks of July 2018. It is an absolutely exquisite property, perfectly laid out and simply stunning. The home is spacious, comfortable and well maintained; the grounds are beautiful. The pool was a huge hit with our family, even though the private beach was just a short walk from the home. The walk to the beach was quaint and lovely, down a few tree-covered, dirt roads. The beach was a protected harbor, terrific for younger children, and great for walking/shelling. (I've never seen so many scallop shells!) This part of Nantucket is close enough to everything (town, grocery store, hospital etc.) but so tranquil that felt like you were truly away from it all.
This was our first time renting in Nantucket and it will be hard to top this home. Julia, the owner, was so welcoming and gracious. I truly cannot say enough about this property; it was an incredible two weeks that makes me long for another visit!
We had a wonderful stay at 146 Polpis Road. The house was exactly as described and in impeccable shape. The photos also don't do it justice - it's more beautiful and spacious in person. We were 5 adults and 2 children, and definitely would have been comfortable with a few more people. The main house is organized as two "wings", meaning a master and another bedroom (with two twin beds) on each side, along with a living space...so ideal for two families to provide privacy. We also used the "guest house" above the garage which we found to be convenient and also very clean. A few pros I'd like to call out: 1) walking proximity to a private beach (about a 7 min walk down an easy trail); 2) cleanliness and overall amenities (house comes with everything you need, including clean and luxurious linens, bath towels, beach towels and beach supplies); 3) heated perfectly sized pool (who doesn't love that??); 4) very comfortable furniture and beds; 5) outdoor space for lounging (two decks provide comfortable seating, nice views and the front yard was great for the children to run around). The only cons: 1) have to drive to get to downtown the fastest (about a 3.5 mile distance); 2) wireless internet was kind of spotty (but you really want to disconnect anyway, so this didn't bother us much).
Julia was a pleasure to work with; extremely responsive before and during the rental if we had any questions. We really loved this place and highly recommend it - it has everything you need! I hope we can return some day!
We stayed here for 4 weeks and were very happy. The owner is delightful and helpful. The house is well cared for and organized. The garden contains an abundant display of hydrangeas -- in bloom our entire visit.
We enjoyed the pool and the various living spaces inside. Each of us had quite a bit of privacy. This home feels larger inside on the first floor than it looks in the photos. We did not use the cottage bedroom. It looks simple but very nice with a high ceiling. The basement bedroom is very comfortable with a view of the pool lit up at night. However, we felt the best bedrooms were the one on the first floor and the two on the second floor. The A/C worked well throughout. Delightful rental.
The property was surperb! Newly renovated and decorated. Perfect spot on the island.
Sometimes pictures look better than the actual experience. Not the case here. The owners were extremely responsive and accessible. We had our family of 10 including two grandchildren and we had plenty of space and we didn't use the suite above the garage.
Highly recommend.
We have just returned from the most enjoyable holiday on Nantucket. We were pleased to find the pictures on the website accurately reflected the beauty of the house. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and the walk to the beach was quite lovely!
146 Polpis is among the top houses we have rented over the years on Nantucket. Julia has done a wonderful job maintaining an immaculate, cozy and relaxing house. The views of the harbor at sunset are spectacular, the pool refreshing after a day at the beach and various sitting rooms of the house relaxing to have a cocktail or read a book. The house feels like a private home, not a rental (all the more apparent after we changed houses to an over-priced "rental" in Monomoy!). 146 Polis is highly recommended.
This house in Polpis is quite a gem! Just close enough to town but also far enough away to escape the crowds. A huge, grassy front yard which was great for a family game of soccer, was a welcoming sight as we pulled in the driveway. Beautiful hydrangea and blue stone welcome you into this simply elegant home. Each bedroom was comfortable, the sheets and towels and pool towels were all great quality. The wonderful collection of books and board games assured no one was without an activity. The kitchen was well-stocked with all necessary cooking items and accessories for the times we cooked at home. The outdoor porch was fantastic and was our most-used "room" as it overlooked the pool and the quiet and peaceful surroundings. The newly installed saltwater pool and pool deck area were also wonderful. The landscaping around the pool was a beautiful backdrop. We walked to the gorgeous nearby beach where the owners keep kayaks available for guest use. The owners were always quick to respond with any questions we had. This wonderful house easily felt like home for our week long stay and we hope to make it back!
Everything about this Polpis house is clean and modern. I'm not sure how the owners do it, but the home feels welcoming and warm at the same time. Everything you need is at your fingertips including luxurious linens and soaps, a chef's kitchen, and outdoor access from every bedroom as well as the living room. Did I mention the completely private saltwater pool with swanky loungers? Or the bicycles? Or how about access to Nantucket's only private beach? Oh yes, and places like Sconset and Quidnet beaches are within easy biking distance? The owners are incredible, gracious hosts and made everything easy for the two of us. A trulyl wonderful week - Thank you!
Even off-season, this was a wonderful place for a get-away. We stayed at this beautiful house during the weekend of the Christmas Stroll in December, and the slight distance from downtown was a welcome relief. The location is so convenient to the various areas of the island that, I imagine, it would be perfect throughout the year. The house itself is commodious, with every detail I could have imagined. The decor is elegant and refined, yet somehow manages to be warm and homey. Although it wasn't quite warm enough to use the pool, we took advantage of the proximity to the beach and walked along the water often. The house and grounds are impeccably kept...It really did feel like a slice of heaven! Highest recommendations.
Comfortable, fabulously decorated, immaculate home; close to everything: paddle tennis, beaches, biking and running paths, grocery and shops. The best vacation home we've stayed in in a long time! Highly recommended.
This is the perfect Nantucket get away vacation home in Polpis that's a short drive to town but still a great escape from all the summer hustle and bustle. A short walk to a private beach and a beautiful new 11' x 40' black bottom heated swimming pool.
