If youâre looking for a comfortable, relaxing holiday, this is the perfect place. Any issues we had were remedied immediately and our suite contained everything we needed. The location is beautiful as far as the view and we saw whales and dolphins from the patio. The hill is challenging, but good exercise. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation.
Everything was as described and the hospitality was just terrific. It was a perfect get away and nice location with amazing views. Clean, safe and friendly!
The rental unit is beautiful and very well equipped with all that is needed. We stayed 5 weeks and enjoyed every minute.
Just as a side noteâŠ..the hill up to the rental is VERY steep so we did walk down to beachâŠ.carefully⊠and would tuk tuk back up. A vehicle would be beneficial! We were not interested in renting a vehicle so made do and used public transit.
The hosts are very easy to contact and will respond in a timely fashion. Super people to deal with.
Would recommend to anyone!
We spent 26 lovely days at this location in Manzanillo. Linda and her staff are lovely and do their best to make sure your stay is worry free.
The common areas surrounding the pool are peaceful and provide amazing views.
The mess nesting pigeons made around the casita was quickly addressed once we mentioned the issue.
We choose to walk up and down the hill behind the property rather than the hill at the front which has some steep sections. The hill behind is easier and I would recommend.
We greatly enjoyed shopping daily at the Santiago Mexican Market for fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood and fish. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. This market is an pleasant walk from the casita and will have everything ones needs.
The local restaurants provided tasty meals and kind service.
We used the local buses to visit different areas of Manzanillo and they are easily accessed from this location.
This property has two casitas and both have their own charm and pros and cons. Ayelet was very helpful and can guide you in making the best choice for your holiday.
We spent 2 months at Casita Santiago which is more like a villa than a casita. Though it only has 1 bedroom, it is huge, comfortable and well equipped. It has spectacular views from all its numerous windows. It is possible to see the city as well as the ocean. Sometimes you can see whales breaching. We could hear the waves.
The Palapa offers hammocks, chairs, tables and grill and beautiful pool. It is like a 5 star resort but mostly private as there is just one other casita..to share with.
The best part of all is Ermalinda, the hostess. She goes above and beyond in all things. She is quick to fix any problem that may occur and a fabulous cook.
The hill was a problem for us as it is steep with cobble stones but we solved that problem by using Uber which was fast to respond and cheap.
We highly recommend Casita Sandiego and if we return to Manzanillo will book again.
This was a fun trip - taking our family of five to Mexico for the first time. We all enjoyed the pool, the beautiful views from the palapa (amazing hammocks)and clean accommodations. The villa was comfortable and we were able to fit all of us with the help of Linda providing extra beds. Having a few more kitchen items like silverware would have been helpful. The blender was awesome - smoothies in the morning, blended cocktails in the afternoon. The walk up the hill is very steep but after a few times you really get the hang of it and was not a problem. We spent lots of time at The Oasis and at the Hostal Olas Altas along with various other restaurants in town. Loved the dogs running around and even a few iguanas crossing the road! Linda was a huge help with directions, advice and she let us rent her car for a day trip to Barra de Navidad. The road side fruit stands were really cool - don't pass them up! She also cooked an outstanding meal for us. The kids played in the waves for hours everyday, the beach was beautiful and overall just had an amazing family time together.
When I look for a place to stay, I look at the photos and the reviews.
Unfortunately, the photos were taken when the complex was brand new, and haven't been updated.
There is a now a house blocking the view from this unit. The âexcellent ocean views from the bedroom and living roomâ don't exist.
The whole place is in dire need of a spruce-up and good cleaning.
Someone needs to go through the condo and throw out old (cracked and gross) kitchen stuff. And stained comforters. People staying in the other condos went out and bought new cooking utensils, pillows and mattress pads. For the price they're charging, one shouldn't have to do this!
Also, there was no DVD player or video library as advertised.
However .... The pool/palapa area is great. Benito does a good job. And Linda is also great. Anything we needed, she was happy to help.
If you're not into walking steep hills, you'll need a car. Miramar Beach (the good beach) is a 15 minute walk from the condo.
In my opinion, the place is overpriced. And definitely not a five-star.
We stayed at Casita Santiago Hills from Dec 4-Jan 4 and enjoyed it so much decided to stay another month. It is a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful views and lovely well kept property. The pool is very refreshing and pool area is fantastic for seeing beautiful birds. Linda is a wonderful hostess, she is very nice and helpful. Ayelet and Sean were very kind and helpful .
We have just spent one month here. Beautiful weather, no rain. Very relaxing with stunning views. Linda and Miguel are wonderful, always there to help you. Yes there is a hill but we would walk down it but get a taxi, which are very cheap, back up.
We have stayed in a variety of locations and condos in Mexico for over 20 years and this one was the most relaxing. The condo had everything we needed for our 2 week stay. We loved the outdoor palapa area around the pool especially the hammock where we could look out at the ocean and watch the waves. The plants are absolutely gorgeous & very well taken care of. The entire villa space is very clean & housekeeper & grounds keeper very friendly & professional. We loved Linda! She was so friendly, picked us up from and dropped us off at the bus depot, as well as bringing us a home cooked Christmas dinner - the brownie was Devine! We will always have fond memories of our stay; even the hill which we conquered! Thank you Linda & Ayelet.
we have enjoyed our month-long stay. A few points for fellow travellers
The view of Santiago Bay was spectacular right from the pool
However because of the location on top of the hill it was a workout to get back. We are in relatively good shape and walking up the hill was an impediment.
The pool and palapa deck was fantastic and we only shared with one other couple, we used it all the time
The condo was spacious but no real private patio. The bed was hard and we needed to buy a foamy to make it comfortable. All the appliances you need and water provided.
Linda (the host) was very friendly and accommodating
This large and inviting apartment is exactly as the photos show it to be. We were especially impressed with the expansive deck and pool area that have views of Santiago Bay. Linda, the manager is right on site to take excellent care of you. It was especially helpful when she met us at the airport ! To get such a view there is a long steep hike up the hill from the beach . We found it to be quite the work-out. However taxis are plentiful and easy to catch to bring you back to your private oasis. Hope we will be able to return for a longer stay in the coming years. Thank you so much for making this an enjoyable getaway. Mike and Julie
This place is as nice as it looks in the pics. And Ms Linda, who is on site, is most gracious and helpful. Staying in a neighborhood felt more authentic to me than a big resort and shopping in the Santiago market with locals was fun.
We stayed at the Casita Santiago for almost three weeks, late January to mid February, and plan on staying for at least one month next year. The place was lovely, the pool area and palapa were perfect for yoga, workouts, sunning, or just napping in the hammocks. We had the place to ourselves most of the time only sharing it with one other couple (who became great friends) as there are only two units! We walked down the hill every day either to walk on the beach or to catch the #1 bus into town. We did walk back up the hill maybe a half a dozen times but more frequently we took a cab from Manzanillo, if we had supplies to carry, which cost about 40-70 pesos. The casita is in Santiago, on a hill, right where you want to be for peace and quiet and great views. Also it is very centrally located and within easy walking to beach, restaurants and the lovely town of Santiago.
The best thing though for us was the hospitality of Linda! She lives is one of the three units that make up the property, helped to build the complex, so she knows everything about it and is so friendly! She was always ready to help with anything we might need or want. She picked us up and took us back to the airport, took us shopping on arrival, offered her car to us, introduced us to tour guides and just was awesome!!! All in all we were delighted with our stay. We are frequent travelers to Mexico but this was our first stay in Manzanillo but will not be our last.
We had a lovely trip to Manzanillo. The pool and cabana area are fabulous and have a wonderful view. The place feels very safe and secure. Linda, the owner's mom, might just be the nicest, most accommodating person I've ever met! She does everything she possibly can to ensure your comfort and happiness. The unit is tastefully done and well-equipped. We had two issues that we got used to. We normally live in a very quiet place and this isn't that quiet because of neighborhood dogs and roosters and general city noise. It does go quiet overnight. The other issue is that to walk down to the beach, if you are so inclined, is a tough trip because it is very steep and uneven. Getting a $2 taxi or using Linda's car for $15/day solved that problem easily! We plan on returning.
Casitas Santiago was a very comfortable place to stay. The apartment had everything we needed and the pool area was a great place to hang out and look at the ocean and the mountains. We're look forward to our next trip.
Gracias por las atenciones, todo increĂble, las instalaciones y el servicio muy bueno, la cocina equipada con todos los utensilios y eso ayuda mucho, la pasamos excelente! Gracias.

Manzanillo Lovers.
We have been to every beach in Mexico, and Manzanillo wins because of its pueblo feel, affordability, privacy, and its not a big PARTY TOWN, making it very nice and quiet, exactly what we want when we retire.
We actually built the whole complex from scratch, it was an empty piece of land and now its a 4 house complex. Its all brand new construction in 2008 & 2009, and now the new property being featured was completed in 2011.
The benefits we see its that its a very small town, with no major international tourism keeping things pretty quiet and relaxed. Being only a couple of hours away from Los Angeles direct flight from LAX to ZLO and also the house is located just 20 min away from the airport, pretty much at the very beginning of the town. The house is located on a hill very secluded from the noise and traffic and everyone else, so its quite private. Our families have been coming to this town to vacation since the 60's so we decided to make it our second home.
Perfect weather, amazing views, its cooler than most properties at sea level since we are on a hill. We can just walk down the hill to the beach with our dog; also to the convenience market just below the hill we could buy basic necessities as well as beer/ wine.
We recommend renting cars if you have trouble walking or getting around hills.
