The view was great. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was nice to have a cup of coffee and and sit out on the deck and read.
Cabin was clean & very comfortably. The lake is clean & very beautiful. My family joined me for a day if fun in the sun. Kayaking, paddle boating & tubing our day was perfect! Diana is an amazing host! I would highly recommend this resort.
Amazing location and lake. It was so peaceful and Diana was amazing. Kids had the best time fishing, swimming, boating and sitting by the fire. Cannot wait to go back sometime.
Right after we checked in our kids were at the beach playing and swimming! I was impressed with the available toys and kayak/paddle boats to use. Thereâs also plenty of fish for kids to catch off the dock! The cabin was the perfect size for us and having a deck to sit and see the lake topped it off! Overall I was very happy with our stay!
Shady Hollow deserves an easy 5 star rating. My husband and I stayed with our 5 children aged 1-8, and it was perfect. We all enjoyed the beach, beautiful lake view, swimming, paddle boards, fishing, pedal boat and kayaks, which was included in the cost. The lake was shallow enough for our kids to play safely and there were plenty of toys on the beach for them to use and build sand castles. Our kids loved going to the office to get a treat and talk to Diana, who was so accommodating.
We did need to pack towels and kitchen/bath soaps, but that was communicated prior to booking. We were also glad we packed our kidsâ blankets and pillows, as there were not many extras in the cabin.
If you are looking for a luxurious stay on the lake, this probably isnât for you. If youâre looking for a safe, clean, family friendly resort that transports you to simpler times, do not hesitate to book your stay at Shady Hollow!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Shady Hollow. Diana was always approachable and accommodating throughout our visit. We loved the proximity to the small sandy beach, with kayaks, paddle boat, pontoon /fishing boats, swimming raft, beach toys and life jackets. We also have small children that enjoyed a woodsy craft session led by Sheila who is an absolute gem. We hope to come back, thank you!
This was the perfect stay for me, my mom and my 9-year-old daughter. The resort is located an easy distance from Baxter, Brainerd and Nisswa. The cabin has a great loft that my daughter loved - we used a sleeping bag as padding for her to sleep on and she slept under a blanket. My daughter had a great time catching fish off the dock, playing at the beach and doing crafts. Very relaxing location for me and my mom as well.
The kids had a blast swimming! It was nice to have access to kayaks and paddleboards included in the price! Cabin 4 is right off the beach with an easy view of the lake, beach, and playground equipment. The cabin was in great condition, very clean, and adequately equipped. The two bedrooms plus spacious loft was plenty of room for us and our three boys. The grounds were also well maintained -- love the natural shoreline restoration and many native plants throughout the property. We were looking for a low-key get-away, and this was the right place!
We stayed with our family of 5 and had a wonderful time. The cabin perfectly fit our needs and our kids LOVED the loft upstairs. They chose to sleep on the floor up there rather than in one of the bedrooms because they felt it was like a little hideout. They have everything you need for water fun: canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and even a pontoon rental. The water is shallow enough for little kids and gets deep enough at the end of the dock for bigger kids. There was also a floating dock further out that was a huge hit. Crow Wing State Park is super close and really nice; a great place to learn some MN history. Baxter/Brainerd are within 15 minutes and have all the essentials you might need from grocery stores to restaurants.
The resort was nice and quiet and our kids loved wandering around. There are several fire pits you can use for roasting s'mores. We had a great time and it was the perfect pandemic getaway: few people, able to be on our own as a family, clean and safe. The lake view in the morning is just lovely.
We really enjoyed this property for a short family getaway at the lake! We stayed in cabin 4, it was clean and perfect for what we were looking for. The lake was beautiful and the resort beach was welcoming with kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes for use by the guests. The owner of the resort was helpful and welcoming.
The cabin was nice and clean and everything was accurate according to the advertisement..There was plenty to do on the beach and a good assortment of games to choose from in the office as well as Schwan's ice cream, which was a favorite for the kids. The resort owners and the resort helper were all very nice people and nice to work with.. We enjoyed their company. If we needed anything all we had to do was ask..The check in and check out processes were painless and the location of the cabin was perfect for everything we wanted to do around the area. I would definitely stay there again!

We really enjoyed our getaway. The cabin was well-maintained with a great view of Hardy Lake and beach access right out the front door. Thank you for a great time!
This is a charming, quiet retreat from city life, without the crowded beaches of the big resorts. There are plenty activities for the whole family and it was fun watching kids catch fish off the dock. The hosts were great and feel more like family than the owners.
The cabin we rented was a little rough, but served all our basic needs for a place to stay. The care takers cabin should have been moved further back from the beach or cleaned up to give a better overall impression of the property.
Sleepy Hollow is a quaint resort that you would only see in the movies. My cabin was right on the lake and there isnât a bad cabin on the grounds. I stayed for 1 month and there is so much to do in the area. The resort is on the back side of Crow State Park , 6 miles from local shopping but if you run out of something just knock on Dianaâs door and problem solved. You would not regret staying here. It isnât fancy, but fancy is overrated! Great family destination in summer or winter, Ski Gull is about 30 min drive, you can ice fish on Lake Hardy for Crappie and Bass, I have enjoyed every minute here.
