Newly updated home right across from Augusta National. Easy 2-block walk.
Tastefully updated and decorated 3-bedroom house thatâs a short, delightful walk (just 19 minutes) to northern entrances of Augusta National GC. Also just 15 miles to Champions Retreat Golf Club where the ANWA tournament is played the week before. Very comfortable home with queen poster beds in every bedroom. Ample parking area with two driveways and close to restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping (Costco, Kroger, Publix, Cabelaâs, Texas Roadhouse, Fishbone, Olive Garden, and many more). Full-service kitchen with lots of cookware and cupboard space. New gas grill on patio for outside cooking. Washer/dryer, garbage disposal, gas fireplace. Lamps/sockets with USB ports. Lots of closet space. If you are interested in taking a daytrip north to Georgia's wine country (about 90 minutes north of Atlanta), ask us for recommendations for wineries, restaurants, and hotels. We were checked in by Lynn and Christopher. They were helpful regarding the home and neighborhood. It's a great location for the tournament. We enjoyed our stay. My only surprising negative was the size of the master bath. Very small.
We loved staying at the Winkle House. It's very clean and nicely decorated. It's also close to everything, especially Augusta National Golf Club and all the shops/stores on Washington Road. Wish we had stayed longer and played more golf, though. Lots of good courses within an hour. It's a little difficult making a left exit onto Washington during commute time, but the city is adding a new stoplight that will make things easier. Would recommend.
Our next visit to Augusta we will definitely book this house again.
Your hosts are Lynn and Christopher. Lynn is a true Southern Belle who grew up in Georgia and is proud of her deep Southern drawl. She loves to laugh, travel, and share experiences with everyone, especially those new to the South. Christopher is originally from San Francisco and was part-owner of a vineyard in Sonoma, CA. His Twisted Red blend of Cabernet and Syrah won a Silver Medal at the 2009 Marin County Fair before moving to the South. Semi-retired, he teaches marketing and advertising at a local college. He loves golf but is a far better cook.
The Winkle House is located in National Hills, a quiet and friendly neighborhood immediately adjacent to Augusta National Golf Club and Washington Road. Washington Road, a main artery, has dozens of restaurants, shops, movie theaters, and attractions like Top Golf and Dave & Buster's. It's close to the riverfront and historic downtown Augusta.
The Winkle House is virtually next door to Augusta National Golf Club. Within a few minutes walk, you can experience one of golf's greatest golf courses and experiences. We are also just miles away from Champions Retreat Golf Club where the women's national amateur is played. There are dozens of golf courses within a hour, including those near Aiken, SC, which is just across the Savannah River. Winkle House is also just 2-3 hours away from Charleston, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Savannah.
