À propos de cet hébergement
Walk to Sintra palaces and historic center, private parking with expansive views
Make the most of your time in Sintra at our newly renovated Innkeeper's Quarters. Enjoy free private, fenced parking and walk to historic Sintra, hike to Pena Palace and Mouros Castle or relax on our patio. The Innkeeper's Quarters is connected to the main house, a historic small Inn where we live. It has a seperate entrance and patio with kitchen, washer/dryer & two bedrooms. We have a very friendly Swedish flatcoated retriever who will likely say hello to you and your 4-legged guests!
The Innkeeper’s Quarters is part of a building that was purpose-built and operated as a roadside inn for many years, serving an endless stream of guests beginning in the late 1950s. The Inn fell into disrepair in recent years, but retains its durable resilience and irrepressible Portuguese style.
Inkeeper’s hosts Renee and Sage moved to Sintra with their family from Southern California, and immediately began the painstaking process of gutting and completely reimagining the Innkeeper’s Quarters. With thoughtful design and hard work, they integrated a portion of the former hotel’s service areas and kitchens with a guest suite that overlooks the valley and towering trees of our neighboring conservation land of Quinta Nova.
The result is a relaxing haven, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Sintra but insulated with modern windows and pampered by luxurious conveniences. Evidence of Sintra’s history in the generations of floor tiles and original mahogany trim, offset by a lovingly appointed new kitchen furnished with SMEG, Delta Q STARCK, Iitali, Norman Copenhagen, Levoit, IKEA, Gato Preto, AREA, Viúva Lamego - Cerâmicas de Sintra, plenty of custom joinery by Sage and ceramics handmade by Renee.
Easy access, local knowledge, authenticity and impeccable comfort are our guiding principles. The Innkeeper’s Quarters was designed and constructed expressly to serve guests — thoughtful renovations have ignited a fresh new following for this old hotel on AirBnb.
The embracing relaxation of our custom built bath, including luxury fixtures and glorious water pressure, drainage and fresh air, serves to recover guests’ energy after adventures, great and small.
Skip the crush of buses and tourist touts — the rear gate of the Innkeeper’s Quarters provides direct access to the twisting cobblestone ways of Old Sintra, with just a few minutes’ walk to the charming Camélia Gardens and its palace views. And hike along forested paths to the summits of the Serra and the breathtaking UNESCO-designated Castelo do Mouros (25-30 minutes) and National Palace of Pena (45-60 minutes).
Drop in to local cafes and restaurants nearby, with the famous Casa do Preto just 3-4 minutes’ walk up the road, Pastelaria Gregório about the same walk downhill, and all the local Sintra spots offer everything from kebabs and gastropub burgers and cocktails to French-inspired parkside cafes and authentic hole-in-the-wall Portuguese delights.
A perfect day at the Inkeeper’s Quarters might include a quick walk to shopping and dining in Old Sintra, hiking the cobblestone pathways from our back garden gate to Pena National Palace or Castelo do Mouros, the “sacred jewels” that crown the Serra de Sintra, catching a train to Lisbon from Sintra Station, an 8-10 minute walk downhill, driving 15 minutes to the stunning Atlantic beaches or the idyllic harborside entertainment of Cascais.
The Innkeepers is easily accessible by road and does not require driving through historic Sintra, allowing for a hassle-free entry and exit to the house without tourist traffic. The house is located 5 minutes from international schools like TASIS and CAISL, and is ideal for those who are scouting for a move to Portugal.
The choices are endless — Sage and Renee hope that you will enjoy an easy and comfortable stay, and are always available to help fine-tune your itinerary!
