Great Family Getaway

Pool was great and had fun playing volleyball in yard. Nice big table for family dinners in kitchen. Deck overlooking ocean was wonderful for morning coffee. Close to beach w lifeguard and walking to ice cream and mini golf. 3 mile bike ride to grocery store- we used beach cruisers that were at the house. Very memorable week with our family- thank you!

The house was very well stocked with things you don’t normally find in OBX rentals- kitchen utensils, paper towels, trash bags, dish soap, etc. Would have been nice if bath towels were included as towels take up a lot of luggage space. Some drawbacks we noticed, but that were not deal breakers, include the pool not being heated (would be totally fine in the summer but we went in the fall), some rooms (not all) had uncomfortable beds, and lots of stairs as the house is 3 stories, so be prepared for this. Overall Carolina Shores was very communicative and pleasant. Excellent location in proximity to the beach.Would definitely stay again.

Cleaning had much to be desired, sand in beds, dirty bathroom carpets, kitchen floors were filthy as it left towels black getting mess up. Upper level carpet dirty and we received numerous flea bites and killed many fleas. Sliding door tracks need to be serviced as they are hard to open. Other than the cleanup, this house is perfect for large families, and we would still recommend it.

We were pleased to find several updates to the house like more outside furniture and updated flooring upstairs. The hot tub pool cover is falling apart so we had white floating particles in the hot tub. We called the tech out because we didn't know what they were. In the end, the tech came out and assured us that it wasn't chemicals and it was safe to use. we did miss the ring toss wall game by the hot tub. Overall the stay was great and we will return again next year.

Carolina Shores people were wonderful even when we had a problem. Checking was easy check out was easy. Cleaning service could have done a much better job. House was not clean upon arrival. Floors were dirty. Furniture had crumbs and dirt. Countertops were filthy. Sheets smelled terrible where I had to strip the beds and wash all the sheets again. House needs major updates. Kind of old and worn out. Appliances need massive updating. Coffee machine was so old you couldn’t even read what the button said to start coffee. Other Apliances like extra coffee maker blender etc. in cabinets were filthy like no one ever washed them. House location to the beach and beach access is perfect though. Other than the cleanliness everything was great.

Things to be aware of

The cleaning crew did not clean surfaces. The fridge should be updated, kitchen gadgets are very old and limited. Sliding did not all work well. It was hard to open and close them. Mattresses should be updated especially in the kids rooms. They are very uncomfortable. Overall rating is food but these things should really be addressed. Also at the pool the water washed along of the foundation out from under the cement.

Lots of games, beach toys, bikes, volley balls and net...something for everyone to do!! There was no sponge or dish rags and only two towels in kitchen. Some of the kitchen utensils should be replaced. But other than that, the kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes etc. The downstairs shower had little water pressure. Should be looked at. All in all was a very great experience! Would love to get it again!!

Wonderful space.

Plenty of beach stuff including chairs and close enough to the beach. Space was wonderful so everyone could spread out. We had boys and girls on first floor so we could have used an extra bathroom down there. Screened porch was so pleasant In the mornings.

Great Family Vacation House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay. House was just as described. More than enough room for our family with 8 adults, 7 kids. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, including seafood boil! The hot tub never really got up to temperature, but we didn’t really use it much. The pool was cleaned in the beginning of the week, and perfect to jump in to cool down. Quick walk to the beautiful beach, and a quick bike ride to the sound to watch the beautiful sunset! 3 miles from grocery store and all conveniences. House came with 2 nice beach cruisers, beach toys and chairs. I think there were some umbrellas in there too. We had brought our own, but I would chance it next time and use theirs. Two outside showers was really nice with the large party we had. The initial housekeeping left a few random items around the house (a sippy cup under the bed, a Gatorade bottle in the couch,). But other than that it was pretty clean. My brothers reported that the two queen beds were quite uncomfortable and appeared old and creaky. The two kings were comfy and the kids with the bunks had no complaints!We had a great stay and would definitely stay at this house again!!

Family vacation June 2021

This house was perfect for our very large family! There were 16 of us and we all had plenty of space and activities to choose from. The swing set was perfect for the younger kids and the ping pong table and volleyball net were great for the older ones! There were also two bikes that came with the house which was a great surprise! It was a very short walk to the beach access. Hot tub and pool were used daily. We definitely did not run out of things to do in this house. I highly recommend it! The only downside was the amount of bugs on the back deck that were stuck to the windows and sliding door when we arrived. It took away from the gorgeous view of the ocean so I bought a scrub brush and glass cleaner to wash the deck myself. I understand that bugs can’t be helped but the windows could have at least been washed. And just to note....we had two of our personal bikes stolen from under the deck while we were at dinner one night so just be sure to lock things up. Thankfully they didn’t take the house's bikes too!

First time and we loved it!!

This was a great house in a fantastic location. Just a very short walk to the public beach access. The house was nice and spacious and I loved the fact that there was a king suite up on the top floor away from the other bedrooms on the other floors. Pool and hot tub were nice and sparkling clean. Definitely a great vacation. The only tiny criticism I have is that the pool and hot tub cleaning person showed up unannounced which was a little unexpected. If that’s a concern to you I would recommend you ask the agency if there are any scheduled maintenance visits in advance.

Great amenities and close to beach

Everything was as pictured. Great amenities and proximity to beach. Views from the house were great and easy walk to restaurants. We got a lot of use on the decks and outdoor area by pool The only downside was wifi was weak for those working from home and the hot tub wasn’t working our first night.

Great Beach Getaway

We recently visited the Outer Banks and stayed at the Whalehead Beach house. We loved the location! We were just about a block away from the public beach entrance which made for very easy access getting on and off the beach. The house was wonderful! It was pretty much as advertised aside from one small note. It had listed a fenced in yard which we were excited about since we were bringing out dog but the yard was in fact no fenced. Just the pool area was fenced. However, we still had a wonderful time and did not effect our stay. The house was nice and clean upon arrival. The kitchen was fully stocked and there were 2 fridges (on the pool level and the kitchen level) which was great for a group of our size! We loved that there were so many amenities available to us! We enjoyed the pool, basketball, volleyball and the outdoor showers were a huge bonus! There were even extra beach chairs and umbrellas we were able to use at the beach. We would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Corolla and we hope to be back ourselves!
