Just minutes from Shipshewana, our whole-house vacation rental is ideal for families, friends, and groups looking for a relaxing getaway—or a comfortable home base for a Notre Dame football weekend or campus visit.

Rustic Roots offers plenty of space to spread out, relax, and spend time together. With two spacious gathering areas plus a cozy, secluded sitting area, everyone can find their favorite spot.

When you stay at Rustic Roots, you'll have the entire cabin to yourselves. The home features three bedrooms, a full kitchen, dining space, and multiple gathering areas designed with families and groups in mind.

Rustic Roots sits on 70 acres of beautiful Northern Indiana countryside, including farmland, woodland, and wetlands. Enjoy the changing scenery throughout the seasons, listen to the sounds of nature, or simply slow down and appreciate the peaceful surroundings.

While outside you can enjoy the large backyard, fire pit, and fully lit sports court. Challenge your family or friends to a game of pickleball or enjoy other outdoor games together. When evening arrives, gather around the fire pit, relax under the stars, and enjoy the peaceful country setting.

Rustic Roots is conveniently located in Middlebury, Indiana, near Shipshewana and the attractions of Northern Indiana's Amish Country. Spend the day exploring Shipshewana's unique shops, restaurants, attractions and local Amish culture. Visit the Shipshewana Flea Market, discover local markets and shops, enjoy the area's restaurants, or take a scenic drive through the surrounding countryside.

I have rented many homes and i have never stayed at a home that was as well thought out as this home was. The home is way more beautiful in person, the hosts have thought of everything! They go above and beyond to make their guests comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends. Can’t wait to return!!

So warm and inviting and clean!! So much to enjoy while there…pickleball, basketball and the fire pit to make s’mores. Wonderful front porch where we enjoyed our breakfast this morning. Great place for a family gathering.

This is got to be the go to place if you’re staying in this area of Indiana. Until you experience it, there’s no words to describe it. It is absolutely perfect. The house is incredible, the accessories are incredible and the host is beyond incredible. A truly wonderful experience.

We stayed here while in town for the football game, and honestly, beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe this home. It was one of the cleanest homes we have ever stayed in, but what truly stood out was the love this home carries. You can feel it the moment you walk through the door. There was so much to do and so many little details that made our stay feel comfortable, peaceful, and special. It wasn’t just a place to stay for the weekend, it became part of the memories we made.My bestie and I spent both nights sitting on the porch talking until sunrise. We listened to the rain drops, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and honestly could have stayed there forever. Those quiet moments ended up being some of our favorite memories from the entire trip.The home has such a warm, welcoming feeling that makes you want to slow down, relax, and just enjoy where you are. Everything was thoughtfully cared for, incredibly clean, and inviting.We came for a football game, but we left with memories that had absolutely nothing to do with football. This home gave us a beautiful little escape, and we are so grateful we found it. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place that feels more like home than a rental. Also, they had this gnome window well! The cutest

This cabin was absolutely wonderful! It was so clean and spacious and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this property. I just wish we had more time there. We will definitely be back next year!!

This place offered way more than expected.. All we did when entering was walk from room to room saying WOW.. Every room had everything that anyone could ever need.... What a pleasure to relax in this atmosphere. 10 ladies and not one complaint.

Lovely cabin, perfect for family gatherings.

Our family loved staying in this gorgeous cabin while visiting for a wedding nearby. We could tell that a lot of thought and care has been put into creating a space for families to gather and create memories together. We’re already planning our next trip!

A first-class property with every amenity you could need. It's a real cabin but feels like a 5-star hotel. Hosts were incredible and communications were answered in seconds. The nighttime pickleball match was something our family will remember forever!

Quiet cabin in the woods

We had a family of 10 and everything was perfect. Short drive to Shipshewana for a show. The grounds are perfectly gardened. Highly recommend.

what a beautiful site! The cabin is very spacious and accommodated our large party of 12 very easily. The furnishings and craftsmanship were amazing. Best of all, we were all able to gather in basement area and at the huge table for all meals.

Great wedding party lodging

The guys in our son’s wedding party throughly enjoyed their stay at the cabin. The blend of rustic and luxury was perfect for the occasion. I was surprised how many of them came up and specifically thanked us for booking “that amazing cabin” for them. The host was so easy to communicate with and accommodating. Highly recommend!

I grew up locally in Middlebury on a dairy farm not far from Rustic Roots. I enjoy meeting new people, being a mom and designing and creating art of all kinds.

I co-host this property with my parents, who you may encounter during your stay. It has been a fun adventure for us to begin this hosting journey together.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Rustic Roots is located on a 70 acre property that includes farmland, woodlands and wetlands that are all protected by a conservation easement with the Wood Land Lakes Land Trust. Sitting out on the porch and enjoying the beautiful scenery is one of my favorite places to relax and unwind.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The cabin is a treasured family home. It was built by my grandparents for the express purpose of entertaining family and friends. People all over the world have enjoyed its welcoming atmosphere, but it's significance is particularly meaningful to our extended family as it has been our go-to gathering place for over 30 years. We hope that everyone who visits the cabin will feel the invitation to rest, relax and enjoy their time here.

Please note, one of our host couples lives in a separate house on the property. The two houses share a driveway, so it is not uncommon to bump into the "neighbor" during your stay. If you see them around, they will likely wave and say hello. If you want to chat, they will be happy to accommodate. However, they are also happy to give you complete privacy if that is your desire.
