Rustic & Charming 2 bedroom fishing cabin in the Heart of Colorado
We are a family owned/operated property. This 1901 cabin has been recently renovated while still keeping its rustic charm. Cozy 2 bedrooms, kitchen, full bathroom, as well as outdoor entertainment area. Get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the quiet mountain airâhiking, fishing, and 4 wheeling all close by. Located on the Heart of Colorado, you will be only miles from the South Platte river, Antero Reservoir, and Spinney Mountain Reservoir. Whether you are looking for a family getaway or a warm fishing/hunting cabin, this is the place for you.
If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place to chill, this is it! Surrounded by mountains and plenty of area to walk, hike or simply sit and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The fact that Griz & Lou welcome pets was a big factor in our choice and once we got there, we were charmed with the location. (I've never seen our dog so happy exploring!) The sunrises are spectacular and watching the chipmunks were quite entertaining. The cabin is small but clean and quite comfortable. Last but not least, everyone in town was friendly and welcoming!
Enjoyed our visit here in this little rustic cabin. It has everything you need for a short, or longer stay. Location is fantastic. Wish we'd had more time to enjoy the area.
My husband, myself, and my dog had a great time at Grizâs cabin! We were looking to get away from the city and this place was the perfect getaway. Griz and his wife were gracious hosts, easy going, and available if we ever needed anything. Location is perfect and central to many of the best hiking trails but also in a quiet town where you can really disconnect and recharge.
Perfect base camp for enjoying Fairplay and/or reservoirs
Great location if you are looking for a remote setting with easy access to Antero, Spinney Mountain, and Elevenmile Reservoirs. We ended up enjoying Elevenmile immensely. I gave this property 5 stars, but please note:
- As some reviewers have stated, the well water is pungent. We brought our own 7 gallon jug of purified water and were very glad of it.
-Property owner needs to update photo of bunk beds- we only found the lower twin bed in the room, which we were not expecting. Sharing a twin with my significant other was not especially comfortable. I'd have brought an inflatable mattress had I known.
-The cabin is located on the same parcel as owner's home, rather close, which is not made apparent in the photos. While Mike was incredibly friendly, an enjoyable neighbor, and gave us some great fishing tips, if you are looking for a truly remote, isolated cabin experience, this situation might detract from that vision.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable place to stay while exploring this unique part of Colorado.
The host was wonderful and friendly. Our dogs loved the property and there was lots of room for us to hike and explore the area. There's big fish in the lakes nearby! Will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed our weekend at Griz's rustic cabin - it was fun meeting his awesome family and we appreciated their acceptance of our young dog Ruby (she loved you guys). thanks for a really nice holiday weekend!
This cabin is so cute, and I wish my house was this clean! The owner was welcoming and helpful. The queen bed was quite comfortable. It's only a short walk to the little town of Hartsel, where there is a cafe/bar and a pizza restaurant, and a couple of stores. We enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.
The cabin was cute in a good quiet location close to places to fish and explore. Unfortunately we only stayed 1 night because the water in the cabin reeked and the smell permeated the cabin. We told the owner the next morning we were leaving due to the water and his reply was that it was well water and he is waiting for a filter. No apology, no offer to reimburse. A big disappointment for our vacation.
Excellent service and accommodation from âGrizâ the owner.
Cabin had all the comforts needed for our family of 5.
Every morning we took our coffee and climbed at the top of the hill behind cabin to enjoy the view of the river and white snow peaks in the distance. Every direction you drive from this cabin the scenery is mesmerizing, my kids called it story book beautiful.
If you want to drive and visit places it is central to great destinations in the Rockies mountain range and if you just want to unwind with no noise and tourists around you this is the place.
A rustic little cabin that was more than roomy enough for two old fishermen. Accommodations were just what we needed and the property manager was extremely helpful. The cabin sits on property with awesome views and itâs quiet and peaceful. Tried to book another stay in August with my son and adult grandkids but our dates werenât available. Thanks for a great 3 days! We plan on booking the cabin again.... Iâll just have to get my wife on the computer sooner! âHi Griz.â Steve. (And Kent too)
I can't believe I found this spectacular place! It is such a comfortable cabin and has everything furnished just like home. The location and scenery are jaw dropping and the hosts are fabulous. They invited us to their fire pit in the evening and what a wonderful family to meet. They have lots of great suggestions for the surrounding area and you won't be bored with so much to do. We grilled out but heard the restaurant in town had really good food. You could walk from the cabin if you wanted to. It is off the road and the quiet was amazing. Tons of hummingbirds darting everywhere and the sunset was awesome. We went out at midnight at their suggestion and the stars! Oh my it was unbelievable when you don't have any light pollution. If you want to stay in a super location with friendly hosts and a great cabin, this is your place to go. I can't wait to go back in September when I know my dates! You will not be disappointed.
My dad and I really enjoyed staying at Grizâs cabin. If youâre going fishing, this is the place for you. If Griz gives you some fishing advice, take it. We caught fish everywhere he told us to go. Thanks Griz!
We stayed here as we wanted a place off the beaten path as we were towing our flatbed trailer full of toys. Michael was wonderful stayed up to greet is on a later than expected arrival. Made sure that we had coffee for the morning. He is a local fishing guide and bet heâs amazing. The cabin was as advertised super pet friendly and we will stay here again.
