We needed an economical place close to Franciscan University that offered a more homelike opportunity for gathering. The accommodations served this purpose adequately. The ownerâs efforts to minimize exterior views was appreciated.
Charming century old house with tons of character. Very spacious and well maintained inside. Offered everything we were looking for. While situated in a nicely kept neighborhood, the homes on this specific street and a couple adjacent show definite signs of economic distress. With that said, still felt very safe.
We had all that we needed and the home was clean and tidy. It was a few short minutes drive to Franciscan University. Five of us ladies stayed here together very comfortably as we were here for a women's conference.
House was clean and immaculate. Host has done well to put a modern twist on a âhistoricalâ home. Neighborhood is older and may be considered âroughâ by a few, but we had no problems. It was close to Franciscan, shopping, and grocery, very convenient! If you have problems w stairs, I donât recommend you stay here. Would def stay again!
We had a lovely visit to Steubenville. The house was a beautiful historic home and close to Franciscan. With 4 really nice bedrooms it could support a large group. The beds were as stated, 4 double beds. My husband and I are both tall so having 1 queen bed would be a bonus. The kitchen was cute as a button. It had a full size fridge and stove but was lacking in cooking pans etc. The coffee setup was nice.
Traveled up to steubenville for homecoming weekend at Franciscan University and this location is perfect for anybody visiting the college. We traveled with my in-laws and were able to visit in the living room with our family members who attend the University. It was a great time!
Inside was nicely updated and clean. Host was quick to answer any questions. Close to campus for daughter's move-in day + close to son's wedding location made for a great experience. Looking forward to our stay for parents weekend.
For starters when we arrived the code provided for the door did not work. The owner was quick and responsive to fix this however. We were able to get in about 20 minutes later. I made a run to the grocery store to grab a few things and was locked out again upon my return. Again within 19 minutes the owner had is back inside though. Once we settled into the rooms we realized that the air conditioning did not work upstairs where 3 of the 4 bedrooms are. It was like 85 in the house. Overall the house was not secure and being in the neighborhood it is we didnât feel very safe. I could hear mice in the walls as well. I was not able to sleep so we opted to book a hotel for the rest of our trip.
The overall experience was good. Wish the neighbors could clean up their houses, too. On road parking only. Maybe once the garage is updated or torn down there will be off road parking and no need to use the steps.
Funky furniture adds a twist to the vintage home. (Fun)
I think the home is a project in progress. The nice old wood trim needs some care and the steps to the upstairs are creaky, but a nice vintage place.
Pretty much everything you need is there. So if there weren't so many steps, I would book again. Just a physical personal thing. (Bad knees)
Property was as described and comfortable. Only concern is the stairs on the way to front door are in disrepair and dangerous to older visitors. So we parked on the side street to enter the back door. The stairs to the back door are fewer and not wobbly but still not an easy ascent for older persons. Neighbors were friendly and we felt secure and safe.
This is a very comfortable house and a great value. I really enjoy staying in old homes like this that really give the feel of the history and culture of the town.
