Ann was a very pleasant person, the fence was built on the property line for the tenants in the house next door, and she assured me the construction was no bother to her stay. Only about 16’ of the fence bordered the lawn area of the vacation rental she was staying in. The smoking I observed, and finally commented to her about was not in her car or the parking area, she was sitting on the steps of the unit smoking marijuana cigarettes. She also disposed of the butts in the trash can inside the unit and left a strong residual smell inside that required extensive sanitation before the next guest. She did show me her medical card for medicinal use, but doesn’t change the effect of undesirable smoke at a non-smoking property. I never felt the interaction was confrontational, and told her I would not give her a bad review for violating our smoking policy. This is the first complaint from a guest regarding neighborhood noises or children’s activities. I am glad that it was quiet for her at night. There is nothing in our listing that states there is a TV. We have considered adding one, but as so many have personal devices, it hasn’t been a priority, or mentioned by other guests. We will update the listing if we add one. Ann told me she really enjoyed the cottage, and would be referring it to family who would be visiting Roxboro in the future. I am glad her stay was pleasant in spite of the fence construction, no smoking policy, neighborhood noise, and no TV.
