We plan our vacation around when this home is available. We have a lot of family in the area and we enjoy staying a week here each summer. This home is just as described and the location is lovely. The owner is wonderful at responding to any questions quickly. As soon as you step through the door, you feel like you are home.
The house is very beautiful and homey. However when we got there there were dirty dishes in the sink, beer cans in the front flower bed, the utensils on the counter are dirty with food on them and the refrigerator was dirty and the last night there while in the shower the power went out in the bathroom and bedroom downstairs. I tried to message the host about the issues and got no response.
We enjoyed our stay. It was just a pit stop to break up a long trip. We only stayed one night but everything appeared to be in good working order. It was clean and comfortable.
The grounds are beautiful. With a nice comfortable home. However, it wasn't very clean. The refrigerator was really dirty, the bathtubs were dirty. While the hot water was excellent, there wasn't any pressure. You're only able to use one water source at a time comfortably. The master bed sinks in in the middle!!! Making it impossible to sleep in. I had read about it in previous reviews but the host assured me that it had been fixed. But it hasn't.
The overall property was fine. It was evident that the property owners are not worried about pleasing the guests they have. We were really disappointed as this location was perfect! We live in Texas, but have immediate family about 1.5 min away from this location. We come out twice a year and were hoping this would be the spot. Nope. Master bed had such a huge dip in the mattress that we couldnt both sleep in it. The bed was not properly made. Fitted sheet was barely on, no top sheet and thin blanket. We found the top sheet in a ball ofvsheets in the closet. Pillow cases did not fit pillows. Pillows were sparce. One thin pillow per person, per bed. There were soiled wet towels in the washer. Lack of tv was expected but still disappointing. Kitchen was only acceptable room. Would have loved for this to have been our go to rental, but obvious its not a priority for owner. I would love to post pics of closet and washer.
This is a treasure of a house!
We greatly enjoyed our comfortable stay while visiting family in the area.
I had made food in advance and frozen it, and we were able to heat everything up in the oven to enjoy. The kitchen felt like being at home.
It was quite chilly outside during our stay, but the house was cozy and warm.
Our dog loved the mostly-fenced yard to get to run each day. If you have little adventurers, know that Turkey Creek is in the backyard and will require monitoring.
The beds were comfortable and having 3 bathrooms was a dream!
We will love returning if ever given the opportunity!
The beds
Master closet had dirty laundry with heavy cigarette smell. Master shower appears unclean. Master bed sinks to the center. No occupant control of heat/cooling. Far too many lights not working. Bugs found in most rooms. Overall house did not feel clean.
The property is beautiful. They do need to treat for bugs but itâs the woods so wasnât too worried about them. The decor is like staying with grandma out of town. Super cozy and cute. We will make a trip back soon. Thank you for the hospitality.
The house is beautiful. The neighborhood is peaceful. Love the creek behind the house.
The only issue - we had bugs, looked like cockroaches with wings multiple times (maybe this is an Alabama thing). There were bugs in the bathroom off the bedroom upstairs.
I knew the decor was dated when I booked this home. That was fine. However, the bathrooms had hair in the sinks â a lot â and gunk on the faucets and sinks and mirrors. There is no way these had been cleaned. There were several dead roaches in the house and some live bugs. Three-fourths of the lights did not work. The bedding was substandard, but we could live with that had the home been cleaned. The owner said sheâd been sick and couldn't t check after housekeeping b.
This is our second time staying at this home. It is a perfect fit for our family vacation. Each person has their own room and space to spread out. The yard is lovely and the location is close to everything we need. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions we had. We look forward to staying here again next summer!
My family and I had no problems finding or checking into the property. The yard was beautifully maintained. However, once in the house, we discovered that the AC was not working properly. We contacted the owner who gave advice on how to set the thermostat, but when that didn't work she immediately sent someone to work on it. Repairs somewhat helped but did not completely solve the cooling problem. Other minor annoyances were several lights did not work in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as some of the ceiling fans throughout the house which would have made the AC problem more bearable. The creek behind the house is lovely, but we wished there had been patio furniture available to enjoy sitting on the back deck. This would be a great place to visit in the fall when the weather is nice enough to enjoy sitting outdoors.
This was a lovely and spacious home located in a beautiful peaceful setting. However, it is not accessible to individuals with mobility problems as there are steep steps to the entrance. Although the rose bushes are lovely at the top of railing of steps would recommend they be trimmed so that the rails can be used by guests who need them to assist with steps. Also, providing the location of the bedrooms in the description, such as master bedroom with king bed on first floor, all other bedrooms on second floor, wouldâve been helpful with our planning as we had my 88 y/o mother in law with us and she had to use the master bedroom on the first floor because she could not get up the stairs to second floor. Couples had to use the smaller beds upstairs. The bed in the master bedroom, although lovely, was also very tall, making it very difficult to get in and out of for her. The A/C also did not work in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Although small fans were provided, it was still warm and it wasnât even summer yet. There was also not enough clean linen in the upstairs bathrooms. As far as communication, the host responded immediately when we had difficulty getting the key from key box but there was no response when I inquired about the Wi-Fi. Although our stay was adequate, there is room for improvement. This would be a great property for younger guests who donât mind navigating stairs and are ok with limited options for food and entertainment.
I am from Birmingham AL, I enjoy decorating beautiful homes and bringing them back to their former glory, so that I can provide a gorgeous place for my guests to get a comfy stay!
