Herb is the best

Herb greeted us upon arrival, had suggestions for local places to eat and tips for visiting the city. Herb is very knowledgeable, considerate and kind. Property is beautiful and NOT haunted. Can’t wait to go back and drink wine in the garden.

Excellent, cozy, quiet, great location

Herb has thought of everything, all details perfect. He is an excellent host, full of great info to help you enjoy your stay. Thinking of other stays that are “good” but one thing or another is missing, the lovely thing here is that we found nothing lacking. Enough pillows and towels and tables and hangers and seating!—Great kitchen! Nicely decorated with a homey feel. Cozy garden! The apartment is downstairs and the host lives upstairs, very quiet with no noise issues at all. (Heads up of you have mobility issues, the shower is a big clawfoot tub you have to step up / down to get in/ out.)The house is on a quiet street with many great restaurants nearby. Bus stop is very close and you can easily get around without a car. It’s nice to be in a quiet spot at night but still have the center of town within easy reach.

The siite

Very quaint suite in a very nice neighborhood, close to good dining and grocery store. The only fault I could find was the tube/shower. Hard to get in and out of safely. The host was a great guy and made us feel at home. Highly recommend it especially if you don’t have to spend a lot of time in the quarter.

An awesome neighborhood to stay in - quiet with several great restaurants within walking distance. We got a 3 day Jazzy pass and used transit all over town. Neighborhood seemed teally safe. Bed was comfy and Herb, our host, left lots of extras to make us feel very much at home.town. Herb

Sweet neighborhood spot

Lagniappe on De Soto is a very cozy and eclectic hangout. Very comfortable king size bed. Nice garden in the back. Herb and Louie are very congenial hosts, well informed about the neighborhood and NOLA in general. We didn't know much about Bayou St. John, but it is a great little jewel of an area away from the touristy chaos of the Quarter. It has terrific restaurants and attractions of its own.

Little comfy slice of heaven!

This rental unit is in a historic home and it's pretty much an efficiency apartment. Herb had it fully stocked for our stay and greeted us warmly as we arrived after a long drive. You can tell he's done this for a while because he had everything we could've wanted: coffee, creamer, sugar, lots of ice, lots of clean towels, extra toilet paper, large TV with cable, wifi, shampoo, soap, adequate dinnerware, cookware, great heating/cooling system, and even a bluetooth speaker and nice hidden little patio area--along with a nice bottle of wine. This was classic New Orleans and we were within walking distance of some great restaurants and not far from the Quarter. Initial entry and exit were both smooth as silk; and we would highly recommend a stay at this charming little apartment the next time you're in Nola.

Wonderful location with safe parking.

Unfortunately, the day after we arrived, I came down with bronchitis and spent nearly the entire week in bed. Herb, our host, was great. He brought some fresh fruit for me and asked if there was anything he could do to help. He gave my wife a ride to the Quarter where she went to a cajun cooking school. I hope to return to New Orleans in 2025 and would definitely stay at Herb's rental again.

Great Mid City Studio

Handsome well-furnished and comfortable studio space in a great spot just off Esplanade and very near the Racetrack. Host was helpful and hospitable. There was indeed ample parking out front and virtually no noise from the host’s home above.

Great place to stay!

We had the best time! The house was so charming and relaxing. I really enjoyed the backyard with all the plants and pond. Herb was super nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again next time I’m in New Orleans.

Great overall experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief overnight stay at the Lagniappe Suite. Rarely will you find a place that exceeds all expectations, but this is certainly one that we will hope to book in the future. Host was great and thought of every little detail to make sure the suite has every comfort needed to make this place a true home away from home. Beautiful furnishing & and a lush garden complete the vibe making this a true New Orleans getaway spot.

Mr. Herb is a great host and made sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. The property was clean, stocked with all necessities and the location is better than what is in the listing description. There is plenty of parking on the street with no restrictions. Highly recommended.

Backyard Oasis

The host was very knowledgeable of good spots to eat and museums to see. He left out a beautiful basket of snacks and a bottle of wine. Softer bath robes that have ever touched my skin and yet none of this touch the beauty of the backyard with chairs and tables to sit at close to the house or out by the gold fish pond. Fans to keep you cool and beautiful string lights to show you the way at night. I started every morning by the pond and finished every night on the swing.

Above and Beyond

The Lagniappe studio apartment was absolutely perfect for us! It had all the charm of New Orleans and everything we needed. Herb goes above and beyond in making you feel welcome with a complimentary bottle of wine, snacks, and bottles of chilled water. He is a treasure trove of information on the city and its sights and willing to help in any way. The location is ideal - quiet, yet not far from any of the sights. We loved our stay and hope to return.

Wonderful Experience and an Excellent Host

From the moment we arrived we knew we had found a great place. Our host Herb greeted us and took us to our Lagniappe Suite, located in a 2-story historic building, and we walked into an air-conditioned venue with WWOZ radio on playing jazz! There were snacks and a bottle of wine and a wonderful conversation with Herb about the building, the neighborhood, New Orleans history and more. Herb was thoughtful, helpful and what southern charm is all about! Would highly recommend this venue, it’s location and host!
