Jim met us at check-in and made sure we were comfortable with the place. Everything was very clean and there were even snacks and coffee for us to enjoy. This location is fantastic for all our motorcycle riding and probably the nicest VRBO weâve stayed in. More than enough room for our party of 6 adults, 3 trucks, 3 motorcycle trailers, and 5 motorcycles. We even had visits from wild turkeys on the hill while we played pickleball.
The house was clean and organized. Everything you could need for your stay is provided. We met Jim at check-in. He showed us where everything was and how it worked. The outdoor patio is really nice. Even on a rainy evening. The hot tub is nice and warm and relaxing. Very convenient to downtown. Would recommend even for multiple families.
We really enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and as described, it was in a nice location (secluded but close to Hill City), and the property owner was great to work with. Highly recommend this place!
Our family group of 8 had a great time here, the place was well-stocked, the pickleball court was so fun, as was the shuffleboard table. Our kids had a hard time leaving such a fun house :) loved the privacy and seclusion of the house but still close enough to walk 5 min into town. The host was so accommodating and responsive. Highly recommend!
Our group had so much fun here. There was plenty to do for adults, teens and kids. We especially enjoyed the fire for smores and the hot tub. The home was plenty big for us. We had 6 kids and 3 adults.
We absolutely loved this getaway! The whole family was able to stay! There was tons of fun things to do! Plenty of space for us to do our own thing or together. Spotless! Well kept. The only thing we wished for was more children sitting. Like a picnic bench or just lower tables for the kids to eat at. But our climbers made do with the stools!
We loved Jimâs place, which was perfect for our teenage kids! Enough space to spread out, but great community space as well. The kitchen and backyard were both fully stocked! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Property was well kept. Very clean and welcoming. Well supplied with games and activities for the kids. Hot tub and pickle ball court added to enjoyable stay.
We were very pleased with the property and its amenities. It was very clean and offered a lot of comforts of home. The property owner was very accommodating. We would recommend this property and look forward to staying here again in the future.
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Starry Pines and would recommend to anyone. It is a beautiful home and a nice central location. The pickle ball court was a fun bonus! We had a great time! Thank you!
Great multigenerational place w built in activities
Perfect place for our family to stay while exploring the Hills. After full days of activity we loved hanging out on the back patio playing lots of pickleball, cornhole, basketball and hot tubbing. The place was beautiful, fully equipped, clean, and walking distance to downtown. Jim communicated well and check in was easy. Nice large parking area accommodated our boat and vehicles easily.
An amazing host and place to stay. So much fun right at the house. The place was clean and felt like we were home. So convenient to all areas in the Black Hills. Jim (host) was extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions and needs. I highly recommend this property for anyone that is planning a stay in the Black Hills
We all came out to ride our UTVs in the Hill City area. The house was nice and clean and had fun games. The back patio area was great! Lots of parking for our vehicles and trailers. Very close to Hill City. Would definitely stay here again.
This was such a nice place to stay and our hosts were fantastic!! We had everything we needed plus! We rode our trikes in the Hills during the day and had such a great retreat to return to. Quiet backyard with lots of things to do and just a couple blocks from downtown Hill City!! We hope to be back again soon đ
We spent the weekend in this place and it was amazing. One of our favorite properties ever. We had our kids and my in-laws and the place had something for everyone. The pickle ball, basketball, and shuffleboard were great for keeping the kids entertained. The adults liked the hot tub and great outdoor patio. The kitchen was very nice and everything was very clean. Would definitely recommend. FWIW, this was our first trip to the Black Hills and we were very happy we elected to stay in Hill City rather than the Deadwood area. Closer to Custer and Rushmore and less of a party area.
We were 4 high schools friends in our 60's and LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PROPERTY, LOCATION AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND OUR STAY. The home is super clean (and I am VERY PARTICULAR); well appointed, great location, great set up; big open kitchen/living space. We were very pleased. The pickleball court and other outdoor games are an added bonus. Lots of nice relaxing areas outside and inside . The views are beautiful. The host was very attentive, communicative, available and walked us through the property upon our arrival. WE ALL FOUR HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOME, AND HAVE ALREADY TOLD MANY OTHERS ABOUT IT. It will not disappoint! We will certainly be back many times.
We had a wonderful stay in the black hills. A large part of the success was this property. It was spacious for our party of 10 (6 adults & 4 kids). Property was very clean and the amenities were over the top. I had never played pickle ball and was somewhat unsure but am now a huge fan learning along side my family. Jim was always a text msg away with any questions we had. Our only suggestion would be with the VRBO listing stating that both bedrooms 2&3 contained bunk beds. There is only one set. But there was plenty of room. My family would love to return
We had a wonderful time at Shady Pines! After a cancelled flight which inconvenienced 3 of 4 members of our group so they arrived a day late, we all had a wonderful time staying in Hill City and exploring the Black Hills. We did a chuck wagon dinner leaving from Blue Bell Lodge, took the Iron Mountain Road Scenic drive to Mount Rushmore, visited Devils Tower Monument, Deadwood, drove the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park, attended the Buffalo Round Up, drove the Needles Hwy and visited Crazy Horse. The property was spacious, comfortable and beautiful inside and out. We especially appreciated the beautiful sealed floor design, the motivational wall art, and the hospitable touches of chilled water bottles, breakfast bars, coffee. There is a well appointed kitchen with cutlery, cookware and appliances. The laundry room with 2 sets of washers and dryers plus ample laundry detergent was also a great amenity. We didnât have a chance to make use of the outdoor area because our daily activities left us tired when we returned. Jim and June are wonderful attentive hosts and went the extra mile for us a couple of ways. First, a cricket was somewhere inside on Monday evening that was not obvious. Jim had not experienced that issue in the past and researched how to draw it out. Problem solved early on Tuesday! We asked if they might have some chairs we could borrow for the Buffalo Round Up. On Thursday evening, camp chairs in bags were on the porch when we returned on Thursday evening!
Jim was an awesome host and we loved the property! His communication and attention to detail was impeccable. The property was clean, spacious, and provided so many amenities. It was centrally located to many attractions we visited, including Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Also, close to Hill City's main street which offered a variety of restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this property and will stay there again on our next visit to the area.
