Located in a prime location, mapped as the heart of Newark. A quick drive to all conveniences such as: restaurants, hospitals, Newark Airport, and shopping centers. This apartment is perfect for extended vacations or work trips.
The apartment was better than i expected. The owner was so helpful. It was nice and clean. Gping back to NYC thos time next yr, We will definitely book here again.
Excellent, reliable communication and the place is v. comfortable; well-equipped for a short or long stayâŠours was 2 weeks, and aside from wishing for a second big towel rack in the bathroom (or door hook) or a paring knife and more bowls in the kitchen - it had everything we could need or want, all in excellent condition. Towels, blankets, TVs were especially nice. Kitchen appliances all shiny, like-new.
The location is definitely something to consider in advance⊠itâs mighty convenient to lots of different places, and big-city-dwellers likely wonât be unnerved by the chaos of the streets. But itâs not a place for someone at all uncomfortable in an active urban environment where they will see extremes of American life. We didnât know Newark as a city before (except by reputation) - it is a really fascinating place to stay. Within walking distance, you seriously see it allâŠ. historic buildings, literally grand turreted mansions of past significance, next to empty fenced-off abandoned lots; huge slick fancy government structures and state of the art university facilities and then run-down boarded up buildings just a block or two away. A lot like parts of DC - and many other American cities - where the change is felt within a block or even half-block. Felt like we needed to keep our wits about us here, like you do in ALL American cities - but we felt very safe and comfortable in the house and would stay here again if we are looking for something in the area another time.
I will start off by saying, the place was very nice and clean. We loved it the moment we walked in and its very spacious.
As far as the neighborhood, an absolute no! It is very ghetto and terrifying. Our friends drive a bery nice BMW and when we were hanging out in the front porch at night, a guy wearing a ski mask approached the car and started looking inside. This was the scariest thing for us. He eventually walked away but at that time we had no idea if he could be coming back with his friends to break into the car or steal it. Our friends had to leave immediately after that incident and as they were leaving they were followed by a shady pick up truck which they eventually managed to lose sight of.
We had to barricade all doors for our safety and in the main bedroom there's a light shining from the alley and it keeps going on and off all night and it's so bright that it wakes you up at night. Our entire experience was just traumatizing.
The second night we decided to go sleep at the airport and wait for our morning flight so we don't get have to spend another night in that place.
We stayed here due to the affordability to see NYC at Christmas. Ian has a lovely place to stay and has thought of every detail for his guests. We had silverware, plates, cups, coffee pot, coffee pods, Pam spray, spices, paper towels, plenty of toilet paper, plenty towels and wash cloths, pots and pans, plenty of room for our family of 6! So clean! The beds were very comfy and had tons of fluffy pillows. We felt safe inside as there are 2 deadbolts. There is only 1 bathroom. For some reason I thought there was 1.5 baths. But just 1 and it is plenty big with a shower and bath. Very nice. The neighborhood is a little rough- not gonna lie. Probably not the best place for our family with littles to have stayed, but the good Lord kept us safe. Idk if this is the norm there, but for example we went to a few surrounding stores to get some supplies and there were outbursts of people because of shop lifting at the nearby Dollar General. We also took the city bus and subway to get to NYC and unless youâre good at navigating- I suggest getting an Uber which can be pricey. $50-100 a ride to NYC for a family of 6. That is why we took public transportation. The subway wasnât bad. But the city bus we encountered some crazies. Probably like anywhere. We were able to see NYC at Christmas for about $1000 so we have no complaints. The place was great.
Verder alles prima!
This property was extremely clean, which is the most important thing to us. The location isnât great, but thatâs something you need to research on your own.
The only complaint we have is the lighting in the main bedroom and the noise. The motion light outside is the window illuminates the entire bedroom. I would invest in black out curtains and it will be perfect. Supplying fans for noise would be a good idea as well. You can hear every noise from outside and the neighbors.
Again, VERY clean and communication with Ian was great!
Everything was wonderful. The host was super responsive to any requests for info, and any needs. The home was clean, well-kept, and close to everything. It'll certainly be a top consideration for our next trip to the NY/NJ metro area!
