Carlsbad is located in the Chihuahuan Desert on the beautiful Pecos River at an elevation of 3,295 feet. The city, with its tree-lined streets, numerous public parks and recreation areas, including the municipal beach and greenway along Lake Carlsbad; originated as an oasis - "The Pearl on the Pecos." Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located eighteen miles southwest of the city, with Guadalupe Mountains National Park lying forty miles further southwest across the Texas border. Hiking, golfing and water recreation are just a few of the numerous activities to enjoy under the sunshine filled days in Carlsbad. Great schools, low crime and a friendly, small-town atmosphere also make Carlsbad a great place to live!
We walked in and there were tons of flies. Not sure if the door was left open. We had to purchase fly swatters and all four adults spent an hour killing and collecting flies. The air conditioner was great and all rooms were cool. Neighborhood was okay. Overall it was good for one night.
I was disappointed with the accommodations. The house was in disrepair. The kitchen table chairs wobbled and it felt like they were not safe to sit in. The neighborhood didn't seem inviting and there was trash in the yard. The neighbor's dog barked and the motorcycle at night made it hard to sleep. Improvements definitely need to be made to the house.
Great place for a quick overnight trip with the whole family
Nestled in an older resdential area, this property was a great place for our family to spend the night passing through Carlsbad (6 adults, 5 kids). There were some issues with the sofa couches, but we were able to do without. Host was VERY responsive via text to all of my questions and concerns. Smart TVs in every room was a nice bonus.
My husband and I stayed here with our eight kids for one night. It was nice to have a lot of actual beds for everyone! Everyone slept well. The kitchen is very small and not well stocked so it made it a little difficult to make food for and feed our kids but since it was just a one night stay it wasn't too bad. Everything else was fine though! A neighbor across the street was blaring music until about 10:00 so that was annoying.
Looks like the dishwasher is not working. It was running when we got here and kept running all evening without stopping. Looks like it has an error code E-15. Later we stopped it and opened it and it was empty. So we just washed our dinner dishes by hand in the sink. Also we noticed the silverware and pans were dirty when we got here so we washed them before dinner. The tablecloth had crumbs when we arrived. We messaged the host about the dishwasher and they responded that it was to be replaced and that we should leave our dirty dishes in the sink and they would wash them after we left.
This home is on a corner lot in an up-and-coming neighborhood. We felt very safe there and had plenty of room for all of our things and separate spaces for all of us. Large TVs in each room, fans, a laundry, and assorted amenities made the stay extra special. It has three bedrooms with one two and three king beds in each room, respectively. There are also couches in two other rooms which we only used for sitting, so I canât speak to their comfort for sleeping. The only thing I would change is the availability of more chairs at the table. The table seats four, and then thereâs a separate breakfast island with more seating, but it wouldâve been nice to seat the five of us at one table. Overall, the renter did a wonderful job of making us feel comfortable and welcomed, and we will definitely stay here again if we come back through the area.
Pretty bad neighborhood, neighbors blaring music in the front yard till late, lots of traffic and you hear it all. Whoever remodeled/flipped the home should be jailed, its pretty bad and everything just looks unfinished or cheaply done. When we unplugged the over powering air freshener we realized why they did it. There's a pretty bad smell in the bathroom and large bedroom. Furniture was uncomfortable & cheap. Compared to the price of other rentals we stayed at on our road trip, this was way too expensive. First bad review I've had to leave unfortunately.
Nice updates to interior of home. Exterior less so. Need some updates to kitchen pots/pans. We enjoy cooking on trips. Anti-stick completely gone on some cookware making cleaning nearly impossible. Needed sponge to aide cleaning and brush for cleaning glasses/cups. Kitchen towels would be a plus. Needed salt and pepper in spice cabinet. We bought cheap set and left them for next guest. Road noise at night measureable affecting sleep in front bedroom as windows seem to be single pane type. Sink faucet in back bathroom super looseâŠneeds adjustment. House needs better windows. Overall, good stay. House owner communicated with us really well including timely responses.
Listing was exactly as described. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, which was great, after the hiking we did. Great location, clean, reaponsive, and accommodating.
This is a cute place. They are still working on it. Itâs is actually three bedrooms; the âfourthâ bedroom is a room off the kitchen with a pull out couch and curtains that can be closed on two sides of the room. It was clean and perfect for our one night stay.
We liked all the beds. It has 6 full size plus bed. That worked great for we did not have to share beds. There is a tv in everyroom. It was a quiet neighborhood. My family and I enjoyed the stay. We stayed 3 nights.
The property was fairly clean. If I hadn't had a crawling baby I may have rated the cleanliness higher than a 3/5. There was dry wall all over and we had to sweep/vaccum the main living areas and one of the bathrooms (glad the cleaining items were available). There were also quite a few goat heads stuck in the adorable shag carpets. I had to pick them out because those things hurt and I didn't want my baby eating one. The beds were very comfortable and clean. You can tell it's an older little house because it was worn. The kitchen and front bathroom were very nice. The yard needed some TLC (could solve the goat head problem), but we were there for the super comfy/clean beds. Thank you so much for a simple and quiet stay!
The house was clean and the A/C worked well. Those were my two main criteria. The house is in a suburb area of town with nothing except a city park within walking distance. That is why 4 stars on location. Besides that, it delivered on what was offered. It is rustic and a low budget option for a rental, but they did a nice job. Maybe a little more attention to molding and trim. No weird smells.
The house met all our needs and the beds were very comfortable. The home is not finely finished (carpentry) but attention is definitely given to make our stay go well. When you have 5 teenagers in tow, space is important and this home met our needs well.
Convenient location to Carlsbad Caverns. Lots of rooms and beds. Overall vey clean and comfortable but one of our party thought his sheets had an odor. TV in every room with lots of channels on Roku. Would certainly stay again.

Problems at house
Safety: two adults almost slipped and fell in tub and bath floor. Elect socket hanging loose. Exposed wires. Threshold loose. Trip hazard. Bedroom table lamps not working. Bed frames squeek. Kitchen- table not steady and chair with leg so loose you could fall. Few utensil and dishes. Furniture doors falling off. However had new toilets and faucets.
